We are considering a cruise on the Joy. our cabins will be balcony cabins and we are travelling with another couple. My question is can the balcony dividers be removed or opened up so we can have a larger shared balcony with the adjoining cabin.  Our last cruise on the Spirit we could not.

A highlight of 3 Solstice clas cruises we have taken. I enjoyed it and would go again but it may have run its time. To me it is very important that a quality, FREE, experience serve as an alternative.

What has kept me interested in Celebrity and voicing that preference seems to be leaving. Like others especially because of itinerary we will be experiencing other lines.

This tends to be my chore while the DW extends her sleep time. I usually go to the library or games room to get a suduko or trivia puzzle. To make carrying the two cups and some Danish maybe a couple bananas I bring from home a Tim Hortons 4 coffee tray. On a longer cruise I bring a spare as they become flimsy after multiple uses.

We are booked on the Veendam in January. This is our first HAL cruise, but our 20th overall.

My DW is asking about the hair dryers in the washrooms- is there one? how good are they? Should she bring her own?

What is the soap and shampoo like that are supplied by HAL.

I really enjoyed all these posts. I have a number of contributions and plan to make multiple posts.

We were cruising in 1989 on the SS Britanis, our first cruise with friends. At that time all meals were semi-formal with assigned seating. Our table sat 8 and we were all Canadians us and our friends, a father and his 2 daughters probably late teens and a single male traveler (Peter) that had recently retired. Peter was from North Bay and actually resided about 3 hours from our home in Blind River Ontario. We enjoyed our evening meals and noted that some tables were celebrating and getting cakes delivered to their tables. Without our recent retiree knowing we spoke with our table mates and suggested we ask for a cake in honour Peter. To his surprise this nicely created cake with candles was delivered to our table and we sang an impromptu medley. The waiter was preparing to cut the cake and to everyone's surprise Peter said "don't cut it, just wrap it and pack it up so I can take it home". The waiter was shocked and finally convinced Peter that the cake would be shared and he would have another one made up for Peter to take home.

All of us at the table shared a laugh about this as we had realized that Peter had a different personality.

This cruise set us on a future of cruising that we still enjoy as much as our first.

A few years back we were booked on a cruise LA to Hawaii on the Century. They cancelled the cruise for a re-furb. These boards had information on the cruise cancellation about one month before we were notified by Celebrity. Celebrity listed some cruises we could switch over to or could have our deposit returned.

Yes they will cancel booked cruises for a re-furb.

We just used Budget, it was a great experience. Do not pre-pay your gas, there are many convenient gas stations within quarter mile of drop off yards. Shuttle to pier. You might want to contact Contrans for a direct shuttle to the pier from MCO.

We just got off the Oasis this morning.

Walk-offs left early, we were in group 2 scheduled off at 7:55 but called at 7:45. Got luggage and standing waiting for shuttle at 8:15.

Used Contrans shuttle to Orlando. left at 8:30 with 14 passengers and dropped off at Air Canada doors at 9:20. We were through security and at our gate at 9:55.

Flow at the pier was smooth and at a slow walk. Any flight after 11:00 could work well.

Probably best after 12:00.

Sorry if someone asked this question already. If I purchase $100.00 gift card or casino credit on my CDN credit card, doesn't the credit card company set the rate at the time it is processed. I do apologize as I find this all very confusing. Also, is there a limit you can purchase?

If you booked your reservation in CAD $ then all your purchases are quoted and billed in CAD $. There is no conversion to be made by your credit card.

I understand that Canadian orders are handled through the Vancouver office.

How long did you spend in the terminal before you could reboard the ship?

I can't remember for sure how long but it was more than an hour. We had time for the DW to shop and time to watch the dancing entertainment.

This train tour set the bar. if there ever is a train tour excursion at one of our ports we want to be "all aboard"

Has anyone done the train?

We did the train and it was one of our most memorable excursions. Although some of the scenery is repetitive the atmosphere was great. The train was a restored 1950's vintage train cars. Sometimes we were serenaded by the beautiful attendants. The ongoing commentary kept us informed of what we were observing. There was enough time to enjoy the Pacific side, and watch the locks from shore. The return ride on the bus was also enjoyable. We returned to Colon and spent time in the terminal.

With this exchange rate for OBC being so lucrative, what is RCL charging to convert the US funds into Canadian funds to charge a Canadian credit card.

When finalizing my bill on the cruise ship I usually check the box to have my bank do a conversion on US to Canadian would it be better to have RCL do the conversion/

this is important to the enjoyment of my DW if I want to continue sailing.

I am aware that some of the islands I mentioned may not be the best. All I want is a change up in ports. When the routes don't change around to a variety of ports then perhaps Celebrity is too comfortable.

These sailings have not changed as far as Caribbean sailings. My work dictates that I have trouble getting away in the summer seasons, besides things are nice around home in the summer.

Last year we were booked on Century for a Hawaiian cruise when they cancelled our cruise. It was said they were going to do a full refurb. They only did a quick freshening up and never returned to the Hawaiian cruise we are after.

So Celebrity don't be mad when I go without you. I will still look for a stack with the "X" with anticipation of when our paths can cross again. I won't have to worry about bumping into you when I travel to Hawaii, which I will do and the Lady taking me will be a Princess.

You will hear whispers from your friends about where they saw me and whom I was with. I will be out with your sister soon as my signature shows, we are just friends (for now) and I know she will sing your virtues.

When we travel together it is not always just about where we go, I enjoy just being with you. I enjoy when we first set eyes on each other. I rejoice at waking up with you. My days are full with you. An evening with you can only be explained in a song. If you are thinking that there is nothing wrong then I can't do anything about that.

I will not give up on you but commitment is a responsibility for both of us.

Hey Celebrity we gotta talk. Sit down it's important.

You are my passion, it's not you it's me...... I have been meaning to talk to you but we don't seem to have the time to connect, I remember what we were and how we excited each other. It was special just you and me...We could read each others mind.... finish each others sentences... we were one. I still wear the "Elite" ring you gave me, I still brag about your virtues You are the standard that all others are measured against. I keep on trying, I hold you tight and remember our nights together, our discoveries. Waking up to you is what I want out of cruising, it really is. But we have grown apart. I have changed but you have not, you are comfortable and I believe you do not know there is a problem. You probably think we will spend our time just happy with what is.

With you I shared my first. My first time to see a ships bow breaking the waves a proud and majestic leader. I have been with you to the Caribbean, we watched the sun set between the Sydney opera house and the Sydney bridge. With you we went together, rising early in the dark and approached the lock gates that let us enter the Gatum Lake of the Panama Canal. You showed me what you could of the Western, Eastern, and Southern Caribbean. We laughed and enjoyed many times that I tell in my tales of the sea. I have shared your secrets with my friends, I have explained your X, I have been proud to know that a glass of champagne will greet me the first time I step on your teak decks. it was special that you would greet me with a cold towel and an ice cold glass of punch when I returned to you on a hot Caribbean day.

The past was great but I am not ready for comfortable yet. I have urges. I am looking for the excitement you have always given me, but you are comfortable.

I want to see more places. I want to see Hawaii, I want to got to Trinidad and Tobago as well as Turks and Cacaos. As much as I hold you dear, if you won't take me I will find someone else. We need to keep developing our relationship. I don't think you would want me to start taking you for granted please give me the same consideration.

Don't think of it being over, we can still be friends. Always remember that no matter whom I am with I will always wish there was a giant X on the stack.

I hope this bothers you dear Celebrity, but still remember that it is not you, it is me.. I have changed and you have not.
