To earlier poster or anyone that knows...how is chris brown?

When I had him recently on Allure, he seemed fine. Unmemorable - nothing of significance one way or the other. He was professional when speaking at the end of a show or a daily P.A. announcement. He’s not a Bing-Bong or loud like a Dennis Charles. Never saw him other than briefly at the end of shows. I thought his Love and Marriage was kind of bland (although some of that may be the result of Covid changes).

Taxi fare should be about $75+ from POM-FLL. Uber X or Lyft on the same run will be $35-40.  For a 9:30 flight you need to be at the airport by about 8:00, and the ride will take you 35-45+ minutes depending upon traffic and the day of the week.  That translates into off the ship with bags and clear of customs and immigration by about 7:00 or earlier.  Good luck!

It’ll be a Sunday morning, so at least there won’t be weekday rush hour traffic to deal with.

When my wife and I left the Viking Star at Port of Miami  (terminal J) in November, the Customs and Immigration people didn't report for work until 7 am.  First passengers went through the gate with their carried baggage at about 7.15 and out onto the street. There were cabs and buses waiting at that time.

If Customs etc is inspecting at 6 or 6.30 am. that's a change.

At Royal’s new Terminal A in Miami, there aren’t customs officers to see and no lines. You walk up to one of the tablet devices on a pole, it uses facial recognition and in a second or two it approves you and you leave.

We had him on Navigator in 2014.  I found him really personable and friendly.  We really liked him and liked his style.  Excited to be sailing with him again on Anthem in June!

Yes, had him on Allure last year. Enjoyed him. He has a Facebook page you can follow (Cruise Director Mitch). He’ll even reply to posts.

I can easily see Simeon as a fulltime CD....sometimes he has been better than the comedian in the Comedy club.    We will be happy to see him and Bobby when we sail on Symphony next week.

Saw Simeon on Symphony a few weeks ago- as funny as ever! They could forgo the comedian and just have him do the full comedy show. He must be a hoot as the CD!

A 9:30 flight from FLL??  Wow that is way too early for my comfort level!!

I would either grab a cab and pay the price or have a pre-arrange transportation!  Hopefully you are getting off one of the Oasis class ships that seem to let passengers off fairly early.

    Good luck....hope you make it!

I’ve been leaning toward a taxi and the cost is what it is. It was 2:30pm originally and the airline made a major time change to the flight. I could do a later flight with connections, but this is the only direct flight to my home city. Usually I like to sail out of Port Ev. and do a 5 minute taxi ride. Yes, it’s on Allure and they typically let you off fairly early, 6:30 or so.

  7. Do all these various options also apply to Royal Caribbean’s Terminal A in Port Miami (shared rides, taxis, etc)? I have a 9:30am flight from FLL so I need to be able to get off the ship early and right on the road. I just want to confirm that if I don’t book a shared ride in advance, that I can easily get something (taxi, etc)when I walk out the terminal door. Also, are shared rides something that must be reserved in advance, or can you also get in one that morning without advance reservation?

(I’ve used the cruise line’s airport transfer in the past but this time my flight is too early to use them)

  8. 2 questions:

I received the email earlier this week about the itinerary change to Allure's Dec. 24 sailing (kept Nassau same day, removed St Kitts, replaced it with San Juan, and switched which day in St Thomas). It wasn't until today that I got an email canceling my excursion in the canceled port. In the cruise planner if you click on San Juan it brings up St Thomas (which was moved to a different day) and St Thomas isn't shown.

    My questions are -

Anyone know how long it takes for RC to fully update the port and shore excursion information in the cruise planner?

With itinerary changes that change which days of the cruise are in port and at sea, will they change the days and times of entertainment shows?

  9. We are in Nassau on Friday the 14th as seen in the revised itinerary. We had an excursion booked that day through Royal C and earlier this week we received a cancellation email saying our excursion won't happen due to the excursion provider being closed for the holiday (Good Friday). A number of Nassau excursions were then pulled off the cruise planner. So now we just plan to wing it when we get off the ship and see what is open despite the holiday. Too bad we couldn't have had the original itinerary which would have had us in CocoCay on the holiday instead and in Nassau on a day everything is open.

  10. They could provide them free for those interested, but charge a $5 deposit. If you return it at the end of the cruise, you get your deposit back. Then they can reuse the band and not have waste. Plus, they'd still make some money (and help cover their cost of the program) since some people would keep it as a souvenir or forget to return it.

  11. Looking for advice. We will be on the Allure during President Week. This is school vacation for many especially the Norteast. What time would you leave the ship on Sunday? We will be using Luggage Valet and walking off with just our carry ons and taking a taxi to the airport. We are flying on American at 12:03PM. We don't want to spend hours at the airport but we also don't want to cut it too short. What would you do?

    Thanks

Maybe leave the ship at 9:00 for a 12:00 flight? I'll be on Allure then and taking an 11:30 flight. I prefer to err on the side of caution. I'd rather be a little early to the airport, than take the risk of it taking longer than I thought somewhere along the line to get through customs, get to the airport, check in luggage, go through security, and be at the gate when they start boarding 30 min. before the flight time. It's a big ship with thousands needing to be processed through customs and many people looking for taxis. I would rather get to the airport too early and walk around the terminal, than sit for an extended time on the ship until my departure group is called.

Just a few weeks until the cruise!

  12. I cruised solo for the first time last year on Royal C. Liberty and selected My Time Dining. When I went to inquire with the hostess how solos signed up for the My Time Dining are seated, he said there weren't others he knew of and I could sit at a 2 person table by myself. So I ate dinner at Windjammer nightly instead(and the food was fine). I have upcoming cruises on Allure and Anthem and when booking I knew selecting My Time again would be a mistake so instead I selected: Traditional Dining 8:30 on Allure and Dynamic Dining Classic 8:30 on Anthem. Does anyone know how solos would be assigned to tables on those two ships? Should I just go to maitre'd on the first evening and ask? I don't really want to show up to a table and find that I'm a third or fifth wheel -very uncomfortable. And R.C. phone customer service people are no help - they have no info for solo travelers, including dining.
