  1. As I stated my caution is that Carnival prides little guidance whereas RCL provided alot....so I'm concerned Carnival staff at the pier may be clueless how to process the boarding documentation for an international student as well.

Captain Carnival calls the boarding zones in Tampa. However, he can't seem to peg Carnival's Tampa announcement so he may not be as informed as he tries to make us here on CC and those in his "club" believe.

  2. They sell no more than 15 to 20 cabins of FTTF, depending upon how many Platinum and Diamonds are on that ship. That being said, when it comes to priority for anything, FTTF are lined up behind Platinum and Diamonds. How does that come anywhere near a "downgrade" of the programs for Diamonds and Platinum passengers.

They sold 45 staterooms of FTTF on the Shnshine Transatlantic, mostly comprised of Platinum and Diamond members. It is not based on how many Platinum and Diamond passengers are onboard, regardless of what Cutback Cruise Line (cheers, DD) tells you.

Many ports do not follow the instructions and mix FTTF with Platinum and Diamond passengers. You need to stop believing what you are told.

It may not be a downgrade, but it certainly puts a price on your loyalty (as little as $10) and devalues your cruise experience.

  3. Careful you will upset MR Menu LOL

Wanderingjew, how did pricing for that cruise compare to Carnival? Are you going to write a review? I'd be interested in reading your trip report and hopefully view pictures that are focused properly. Watch out for the one armed bandit and be careful with your selected excursions.

  4. One the contrary Ernie, Micky publicly stated during a recent interview that the Arnold has "control of the reins" now, so while I'm sure he has some influence Arnold is the decision maker and even if he didn't agree with the decision it's Micky's job as chairman to support the CEO and that's what he's doing, as evidenced by his ''involvement'' in various parts of the design process.

    Cameron,

I'll be sure to send Richard your regards.

  5. Last time we were on Carnival Breeze, there was a family of 4 (two parents, one boy about 13 and one girl around 10) sitting next to us in the steakhouse. A waiter from the dining room had delivered them kids meals to their table. I asked the parents if they ordered them in the steakhouse or arranged it through special needs in advance. They said they talked to the MDR hostess the night before and were not special needs. The kids were behaved and I don't see a problem with it. I take the kids on land to Ruth's Chris and other various upscale steakhouses and wouldn't hesitate taking them to a steakhouse onboard. One should not be forced to put their kids in camp and it would be a disservice to exclude them from higher quality food on a ship with such poor food quality to begin with.

  6. FOTS is the same as QOTS? They are all international companies, some keep their committments made and some don't. I agree they charge a higher price, the economics of that are another issue. I tried it once and won't make that mistake again. On top of all that, they get you for every penny along the way, if that is the cost of innovation, I will pass.

Are you saying Anthem of the Seas is not the same class as Quantum of the Seas? Last I checked, Anthem was replacing Quantum. If that was recently changed, please accept my apologies as I don't follow Royal Caribbean and its changes as often.

Eventually Carnival will be nickel and dining just as much as, if not more than NCL and RCI. It's the changing of the tides and all of the revenue venues and dining establishments on the Vista should give you that simple observation, Jimbo. You're right, their economies are different. RCI caters to a higher quality passenger than Cutback Cruise Line and they're willing to pay more for an experience that meets their vacation needs and exceeds expectations for the whole family.

I'm willing to pay for innovation.

  7. Well, I guess we will see. I can tell you that demand for Vista is beyond expectations. We will see how many new builds stay in the Caribbean for RCI. My guess is not that many. Wonder how the tri state feels about geting their chain yanked for QOTS carrott and pullback? Imagine not getting a chance to try out the ejector pod.

Irrelevant, the ship was replaced with a comparable, same class vessel. The Chinese and Australians are willing to spend money and earned the right to have the new builds in their homeport over us here in the States. These are international companies and we aren't the only region they need to cater to. China and Australia deserve the new ships and RCI is able to command a much higher price tag and premium pricing for YEARS AFTER a ship is launched.

  8. With the cruise over a year away, nobody has booked any airfare.

    Not true!

My neighbor was on one of the sailings that were interrupted and replaced with the Splendor and had his airfare booked and confirmed for a month. He was flying with JetSuite, per my recommendation. They are a great airline and definitely better than any of the legacy carriers. Carnival would not offer anything other than the $50 onboard credit so he kept his flight, waiting for his cruise refund and booked with a competitor.

  9. Agreed...but there are at least two ships that didn't get it when they went in to get their 2.0 upgrades this year.

Plus Carnival Dream. Splendor is also expected to receive the Red Frog Rum Bar and Blue Iguana Tequila Bar with anticipation to exclude Guy's Burger Joint.

OP, fly to Europe and sail Vista if you want a comparable Carnival ship during those dates. I wouldn't wish Carnival Sunshine on my worst enemy, well, maybe one.

Cutback Cruise Line (cheers, DD) wishes you a wonderful time on the Splendor. They consider it comparable to the Breeze. Therefore, you should too.

  10. The Magic is going into dry dock before coming to Florida. She is likely to add Blue Iguana and Guy's.

Maybe not the thrill theatre, we never got to try that out as the price and show options were often were packed

At least one drydock website reports she is getting the 2.0 upgrades.

so check out the Magic, almost the same ship and may very well have the items you are looking for. Maybe not the thrill theatre, but who knows.

Just because she is receiving 2.0 upgrades does not mean she will be getting Guy's. Ships are getting select 2.0 amenities, not the full package. Just another way Cutback Cruise Line (cheers, DD) shows its love for its passengers.

  11. Really, no ship is a good substitute for the Breeze.

Sorry your cruise got cancelled, it really is a bummer.

    Not even Vista?

Of course, the Breeze is nothing compared to Oasis, Allure, Harmony, Oasis IV, Quantum, Anthem and Ovation of the Seas. Actually, it's not even on par with a Voyager class ship.

  12. Will be very interesting to see how this shakes out but cant imagine all these people on a ship that is smaller than the Oasis class.

BTW wasnt JH making fun of these big ships not that long ago?

I don't understand why he thinks it is okay to make fun of ships that are owned by other cruise lines and their investment partners but not okay for another cruise line to call his ships a rust bucket.

  13. May I ask, why is cruising from Texas out?

Does it matter why Texas is out? We're not the OP and it is his/her business.

Perhaps the OP wishes not to visit Texas?

Perhaps the OP has no desire to enter a vehicle for an hour when in transit to the port after flying from New York?

Perhaps the OP has an outstanding warrant for arrest in the state of Texas?

The OP said Texas is out. The reason doesn't make a difference.

  14. One thing is for sure: they will be Non-Smoking vessels:)

LNG is safe when all Safety procedures are followed by all onboard. FACT.

We all know Carnival isn't one for following safety procedures. Certain cruise directors and captains can't even carry out a proper safety briefing at the muster stations.

Also, Carnival isn't known for preventative maintenance.

  15. There is no way you will find me on any of those LNG ships. Those things are floating bombs! No wonder why the Port of Mobile has banned them when they expressed interest in an offshore terminal. What was Carnival Corporation thinking? Have the cutbacks left Cutback Cruise Line (cheers, DD) and made their way to the safety of the ships throughout the holding company? With Cutback Cruise Line's poor preventative maintenance, if any LNG ships should find their way over, I'd be scared for not only my safety, but the lives of the thousands onboard.

  16. I shudder every time JH says a big announcement is c0ming

Really? It has that much of an impact on your life?

Whenever JH makes an announcement that an announcement is coming, it feels as if all of the happiness in the world and on Carnival had been cast away.
