    Donna,

It was a place called Any Lab Test Now off the I459 Acton Rd.  Be very specific as to the Rt-pct with the Naso-pharangyl swab, although I’m not sure

    St Maarten is playing close

attention to the type of nasal swab.   It does cost $249 per test, but we’ve requested Blue Cross reimbursement.  Hopefully your Walgreens test  come back. If not, this place is great.

Thank you!!!  Wow @$249.  I am surprised they don’t bill BCBS directly but either way it will be worth it to us if Walgreens doesn’t come through to avoid missing the trip.  We also have BCBS so would do the same as you. Thanks again.  Hope your cruise is going wonderfully well.  Enjoy!

  2. @Jason26We are headed down on Friday — also from Bham — also on that super early 530am flight.  If you don’t mind sharing, where did you get your PCR that they turned around same day?  We were tested yesterday at Walgreens but they told us it would be 2-4 days so has me a bit worried.  Looking for another place to possibly retest for faster results in case Walgreens doesn’t come through for us.  Super excited to be onboard on Saturday!!!

    Thanks,

    Donna

  3. Sorry for the delayed follow-up as we spent a number of days in Switzerland following our cruise. We were able to complete our Viking Rhine Getaway cruise last Friday ending in Basel. Other than a few minor delays and shifts throughout the week our cruise was on track and completed all planned excursions and port stops. We feel very blessed and lucky that we did not encounter the significant changes that many others have had to endure. Throughout every little hurdle the Viking crew was absolutely amazing and deserves all the praise possible for their attitude and focus on the passengers and on providing a safe and enjoyable journey. We will definitely be cruising with Viking again. All our best to everyone and prayers for enough rain to soon resolve the water level issues.

  4. This might just be a system glitch. I have bee tracking the Jewel using vesselfinder and for the last couple of days the position has not been updating. This is not an uncommon situation when tracking river cruise ships, maybe because terrain blocks signals.

I wish more Scenic cruisers were also CC posters so we could get some real-time updates from onboard.

We are currently docked in Kehl just across the river from Strasbourg. (On Viking). The Scenic Jewel cruised by us headed downstream about 5 hours ago.

  5. We awoke yesterday in Koblenz to significant rain and storms. They were short lived but hopefully providing some bit of relief. In the afternoon we cruised the middle Rhine (Rhine River gorge) viewing the many castles. While it was made known that it was super tricky navigation due to the water level we were able to safely but slowly make it through to Rüdesheim in the early evening. We navigated through to Mannheim this morning where we departed the ship by bus for a day in Heidelberg to meet up with the ship this evening in Speyer. Now sailing on to Strasbourg. Again other than a few minutes delay here and there we have had no interruption to the planned itinerary.

  6. Slight delay (approximately 45 minutes) in arriving at our drop off of Zons to be taken by bus to Cologne this morning (advanced plan of bus trip—not related to water level). The 45 minute delay was attributed to slower speed due to water level. The ship continued to cruise to Cologne and arrived with no issues by the time the walking tour was completed.

  7. Contact Viking at tellus@vikingcruises.com. Explain your problem in brief--and include if you have any other allergy/food/medical issues while you are at it. Give them your booking number and a phone number. They will call you back to discuss the details. I also suggest that you call them again right before you leave and ask them to confirm with the ship that they are prepared for your arrival.

    Thank you very much.

  8. We are going on our first ever cruise in just a few months — a river cruise on Viking. We are beyond excited! I have a question that I haven’t been able to find answered anywhere in CC or on Viking’s site. Are the pillows and duvets filled with down/feathers? I have a severe allergy to down and must be in a feather free room. I don’t know how to find out and/or who to contact to find out or ask that the room be de-feathered if it is. I look forward to your assistance and advice.

  9. This is my first ever post so forgive me if I'm not doing this correctly. We are going on our very first cruise EVER as a family of 4 (daughters 13 and 16) next May on the Sun from Vancouver to Seward. We are in a forward facing suite on deck 9. My husband is still very uncertain about going and I have assured him from all my reviews that this will be an incredible trip and it is a wonderful ship. After reading this thread I am concerned about the cleanliness of the ship and it apparently being very "dated" and in need up an uplift. I love the fact that it is a bit smaller for our first cruise ever. I have also read that it is going to drydock before our trip. Is there a way to find out what will be done during drydock? I appreciate all of the info I have gained from CC.
