  1. Good evening all,

Like most of you, I guess you have received e-mails of cancellations of cancellation today, and guessed this would happen.

We were due to sail from Southampton for a 2 week Baltic Cruise in 10th July.  I understand that we can book another sailing for a 21/22  cruise which is fine with the £125% cruise credit, we booked whilst on board last year and then my TA took over the booking, I managed to call them today to ask about the OBC we were due for July, and was told we would not get this on a new booking? does anyone know if this is correct? seems an awful shame, given this is one of the reasons for booking on board.

    Thank you in advance

    C 🙂

  2. Hi all,

After eventually logging in to the new look awful cruise VP,  I wanted to see if the ships tours/excursions were up & running yet to browse & book, especially St Petersburg, to find that they, and i quote 'NO LONGER ON SALE' ! in anyone's experience, does this mean they are completely sold out already? all other trips are still being finalised....

    Thank you

  3. Hi,

I'm hoping that someone may be able to enlighten me on what is above the deluxe cabin (Deck 1 - 1073), I can't quite work it out? the past 4 four trips on QV we have always booked a balcony cabin, so cabins above and under, alas this year, owing to other commitments we have opted to try the deluxe inside, although I have read that they are very nice.  Just a tad worried that it is going to be very noisy?..... reaching out to anyone who has stayed in this particular cabin, I would love your feedback if at all possible?

    Thank you in advance,

    Catz X

  4. If that's the case, I definitely will be bringing some diet tonic, in cans, onboard with me. If I must haul a tin or two with me to the lounge, so be it. I will tuck them under my petticoat, beneath my Spanx. They surely will stay put, but then I will have to figure out a dignified way to retrieve them.:p

    What a good idea! :') :')

  5. Hi everyone,

Could really do with hearing from someone who drinks Gin & Tonic.

Last year on QV, they seemed to have changed from tins/bottles of tonic water to using "out of the pump" tonic water, which incidentally is horrible. I asked for light/diet tonic, which they said they didn't do anymore? :(

What do diabetics do in this case? I much prefer the tins/bottles, anyone know anything different.

    Thanks in anticipation.....

  6. Hi,

Thank you all so much for your replies, we have now booked our "Welcome Pickups" for our trip, and pleased to say because there was a 24hr period in between booking and paying, (they did not recognise flight number as it's a Charter Flight) they even sent us a 5 euro discount by e-mail.... Happy Days! :)

  7. Hi

When we did this last year - we used 'Welcome Pickups'

They were excellent - a Mercedes with a knowledgeable driver who was waiting as we exited the luggage hall.

    Thoroughly recommend

Thank you for the reply, it's very helpful, I was also looking at "Welcome Pickups". What happened to your luggage when you got to the ship? do they just take it off you and deliver straight to the cabin, or did you take it through security yourself.

    Many thanks

  8. Hi all,

We are thinking of booking a taxi transfer (through our personaliser) from Athens Airport to the cruise port. Has anyone done this? will it be any quicker in reality? this way we will already have our luggage with us, would we just wheel our cases through to the ship, or will someone take them from us and take straight to our cabin?

    Thanks in anticipation...

  9. Hello everyone,

Well! I called first thing, and it had gone.... that'll teach me!

No one else to blame but myself, but she did say if there are anymore upgrades to be had she would phone me, that would be nice, but I'm not holding my breath, and before the call, we were quite happy with what we had booked.

I shall know for next time, not to be a ditherer.

  10. Hi all,

I had a call while I was as work today, offering me an upgrade from Balcony Cabin to Princes Grill..... for only £500  Needless to say I declined their kind offer! Do you think Iv'e made a mistake, and/or will they come back again with another offer I wonder?

  11. Not to worry, it would be acceptable. Despite what many seem to be concerned about, the fashion police do not patrol the ship after 6:00 PM. Make a reasonable effort to look good and respectful all will be well. Have a good time.

    Thank you.... :)

  12. Having a glass of wine with hubby last night, and generally talking about the cruise, he announces, if we have room to pack it in I would like to take my Linen Suit with him (well, linen mix, doesn't crease quite as much as 100% linen), is this going to be acceptable on the informal nights to wear I wonder?

  13. We were on Queen Victoria last week and very few people were wearing either red, black or gold.

Thank you for this, I will wear the colours perhaps on one night though... Hope you enjoyed the cruise.

  14. Which sailing are you on ? I think it's normally one per cruise but if you are doing a B2B2B I could see how you could end up with 3.

From early reports it doesn't sound as if people are wearing the suggested colours so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

    Hi Hattie,

It's the 20th June sailing, I have just had another look on the listed dates, and it appears they have duplicated the 24th June by mistake, Phew! although it still has 2 '175's.

21st June - Royal Ascott Ball

    24th June - 175 Ball

    28th June - Black & White Ball

    2nd July - 175 Ball

Not to long to wait now!

  15. Hi all,

I have just received our pre-voyage documentation, and it appears we have 3 yes 3! 175 ball formal evenings.... I don't know if I have that many Black, Red and Gold outfits? are people really expected to do the 175 colours on all 3 evenings or will I get away with other outfits do you think? Otherwise I may just have to go shopping again..... ;)

  16. Yes, hand luggage with BA is 23kg, has been for a while now, but the size restrictions are still in place so unless you are carrying gold bars cramming 23kg in is unlikely. Still, at least it stops you having to worry about the hand luggage weight any longer.

    From BA's website:

    1 x cabin bag 56cm x 45cm x 25cm (22in x 18in x 10in) including handles, pockets and wheels. 1 x personal bag 45cm x 36cm x 20cm (18in x 14in x 8in) including handles, pockets and wheels.

    • Maximum weight per bag is up to 23kg (51lbs).
    • You must be able to fit your bags into the baggage gauge at check in.
    • Any items you purchase at the airport, including duty free, form part of your hand baggage allowance. If you go over your allowance of 2 bags, you may have to check in one of your extra bags, for which there may be a charge.
    • Occasionally we may not have space to stow all hand baggage safely on board and you may be asked to check in some or all of your hand baggage at the boarding gate. Please make sure your hand baggage is within the size and weight limits shown, otherwise you will be charged for extra baggage.

You are a STAR! Thank you so much...... Like you say, unless it's gold bars, I don't think I'll hit that weight, but can still squeeze in another dress or 2! ;)

  17. To be honest I can't remember, I think she told us they didn't worry too much about the weight but I wouldn't want you to end up having to repack at check-in ! I know I packed all our shoes in my hand luggage and my arms were aching a bit. The flight was full so overhead locker space was a bit tight.

How long is your trip ?

We are going for just the 2 weeks :( wish it were longer, but work interferes!! ;)

  18. Tangoqueen,

Yes, it's going to be a bit of a struggle for evening outfits, and as you say, a repeat outfit may be necessary :( .... I can't think why BA wouldn't let you purchase extra luggage allowance, what's it to them.... Just don't get it!

    Hattie,

Just read through your post, we are staying in the T5 hotel, so will only have to walk under the covered walkway to the check in desks, so I think 2 hours will be plenty..

I'm still waiting for some informed person re: the 23k hand luggage, if that's the case I will be sitting on my hand luggage case to zip it up!! leaving my husband to lift of course ;) Did they weigh your hand luggage Hattie?

  19. Charter?

    Make note to self.

Next Cruise upgrade to Sheduled BA, Business you get two suitcases plus 23 kilos of hand, then on Coach you can purchase extra luggage and stil have 23 kilos of hand .

Peace of mind and problems solved - simples:D

That's for the next trip I think!

  20. Hello again you helpful crew!

As above I have a couple of questions you may be able to answer for me...

    1. I have at last got our paperwork re: our Charter flights from UK to Greece, which is roughly 3.5hr flight, and this is where we embark the QV. The paperwork states that we have to check in 3 hours before our flight? does this seem to be a long time to you guys? when we normally go on holiday it is 2 hours at the most?

    2. Luggage allowance. I called our tour operator to ask if I could buy extra baggage allowance, but because it's a charter flight with BA, it seems I cant...

Don't quite know why not with BA, as I have done so with other Charter flights when cruised with P&O?.... anyway, she said she would check for me and give me a call back once she had spoken to airline, she did call back to say that was correct, but I could take up to 23k hand luggage!!! but only if I could get it into a 'cabin approved luggage case' and could lift into overhead space. I did query this with her but she stated this was right... I know I wont need/get this into a hand luggage case but it's worth knowing that I'm not restricted to 5kg, has anyone else come across this?

    Thanks...

  21. I prefer to take my own but due to luggage restrictions this year I am planning on taking just my straighteners to try and make my hair half decent and just use their dryer to dry rather than style.

Thank you Tangoqueen, what a great idea, hadn't thought of doing that!
