  1. We are looking at an ocean cruise ship that, as part of the journey, spends 8 days on the Amazon River. It is recommended by the CDC to be vaccinated for yellow fever for trips on the River. However, the number of serious side effects from the vaccine increase if you are over 60. Has anyone over 60 taken a similar trip on the Amazon without being vaccinated or does anyone have any opinion on doing this?

  2. For anyone who recently stopped at Muscat: What was the process for obtaining a day visa for Oman? Did celebrity take care or it or did you have too. Was the time lengthy?

We have an all day trip and would not want to be stalled in the port

    thanks

  3. For anyone who has recently had a cruise stop at Oman: what was the process like at Muscat for obtaining your day visa at the port.

Did celebrity take care of it quickly, did you have to do it yourself ; how much time did it take?

We have a day long independent tour that starts early and would hate to be stalled at the port because of a visa process.

    thanks

  4. Thanks. This is exactly what I was asking : Does celebrity obtain the visa within the same time frame as they clear the passports at these ports.

The only port on our trip that I seem to get conflicting information is Oman. Does anyone have clarity about the visa timing situation there? Have a all day trip that could be affected by a lengthy visa process at port.

  5. Is there a good email address for Celebrity management to relay concerns about the product?

As said before, my wife and I have been cruising with Celebrity since the time of the Horizon and Zenith.

I really enjoy the line as evidenced by the fact we are in the Elite Plus category looking toward Zenith.

My intent is not to necessarily complain, but identify actual misstatements from the reservations staff, promises to call back never fulfilled ( Vivian and Jennifer you should save the tapes ) and general unhelpful manner.

I will continue to cruise with Celebrity because I know once on board it is great.

  6. To all who responded , the precise issue here was if you make a reservation directly with Celebrity and also make Choice Air reservations , and then wish to transfer the reservation to a TA within 60 days of the first booking, will Celebrity let you transfer both to the TA so that you have the additional perks from the TA and incur no Air Choice penalties even if there is no change in the flights.

The answer is no. If you transfer to the TA for the perks, you must cancel the reservation, including Air Choice and incur a $600 penalty for Air Choice.

The problem is that if you call Air Choice in advance you get a different answer

  7. Can those with the following experience please tell me what ultimately was the final result:

    1) You make a reservation directly with Celebrity, book Choice Air and then find out a TA has a much better deal re: perks.

    2) Choice Air tells you that a transfer of the reservation will transfer the air portion

    3) Celebrity says it will not, a cancellation penalty is required.

Just asking for some insight since 2 1/2 hours on the phone did not

  8. We have been on the Silhouette l for its 2/5 Western cruise. Very nice but that is not the subject of this post.

Airline changes have us on a 9:40 flight to Chicago on 2/12.

    Will we make it?

I thought it might be interesting to hear comments, tell you what we have done to address this problem, and provide an ongoing and real time commentary as to our 2/12 "adventures". If no one responds, I guess this not a topic of interest and that is fine.

First, we are signed up for express departure ( carrying our own bags } which is supposed to start at 7:30. Unfortunately DW heard from guest relations that this cruise has a large number of express departures so instead of lining up a bit early, she wants to be in line earlier. Thoughts on time?

We have Global Entry. Does that really help?

Best way to Fll, cab, private service ?

We have only carryons so I am expecting going directly to PreCheck

If there is any interest in our adventure, will update, if not, fair enough.

To those of you who asked, this is what happened:

My wife insisted we line up early express disembarkation so we were lined up on deck 3 ( one deck above the gangway) at 6:00am and yes we were the first ones there. Though others came fairly soon after that.

At the time we did disembark ( about 7:30) many people were there with the line extending out of the public area down one corridor.

This was not as bad as it sounds. We alternated taking time to have breakfast, walk around the ship, etc.

Shortly after 7:30 we were permitted to disembark. Though we were first in line, apparently wheelchair bound people were told they could gather on deck 2 using the elevator and they were the first to leave the ship. Glad Celebrity is thoughtful about such things.

We then walked to CBP and even though the Global Entry line was not open, we were used a regular lane and finished with that requirement in about 10 minutes.

I was concerned about the availability of cabs, but several were there and we were at FLL by 8:00am

Decided to check our carry on bag and just carry on our undersea bag.

Went to preCheck lane in terminal 3 and it took about 10 minutes to complete the security screening.

Arrived at gate about 45 minutes before boarding began at 9:10

Conclusion: would I do this again voluntarily, no. But at least it is possible. Key is place in line to disembark.

  9. We have global entry. We are usually off with early express departure. We had no wait last time with Global Access. If everything goes right, no issues. But that is breath holdingly tight to get off ship, through customs, to airport, through security and there just in time for boarding. And get in line to disembark early.

We uber. It's been easiest and quickest for us recently.

  12. I do not have personal knowledge but I was on CoCo Cay last weekend and made sure to check out several of the beach options. Unfortunately, I did not go see the personal wooden huts. The "huts" are not on the beach.

The usable beach on Coco Cay is roughly U shaped. You disembark from the ferry/tender dock and the first beach on your left was closed off for construction. But, you only had to walk a short ways for the beach on your left to open up. There were no changes to that part of Coco Cay that I could tell. Lots of lounge chairs and you could rent an umbrella in that area. As you reach the bottom of the U, and start to turn back toward the ferry landing, you hit the clam shells section. They were in a small roped-off area just off the tip of Coco Cay. There is a floating bar very near them. The Clam shells did not look very inciting to me. Partial shade from the clam shell but otherwise nothing special. They were packed in there fairly closely although not as close as the other lounge chairs on the other beaches. As you continue to walk around the coast line, you come to the private cabanas. There were a bunch that had a living room setting - an L shaped couch under the canopy and then there were a bunch that looked like a King size bed under the canopy. Those canopies essentially had a private beach as there were very few people over there. However, there is nothing stopping from other people coming over to share that beach. There is a bar area near the canopies. Both the canopy set-ups looked quite nice and each came with two floating mats.

I think there is a bit of confusion about the Cabanas which have been there and available only to suite guests ( absent a sell out of them ) and something different call Bungalows which may only now be under construction and available to everyone. In fact rentals for winter cruises have begun.

Anyone have any clarification to my understanding?

  13. We'll be at Coco Cay for our January Silhouette cruise. I priced the bungalows via the Shore Excursions page and they are asking $195 per person --- and yes, I am sure it is per person, they quoted me $390 for the day. Seems high for a fairly short amount of time, but clearly they are selling or the price would come down.[/QUOT

I did call celebrity and they assured me the cost is $195 for up to 6 persons. One person just has to reserve it not everyone using it.

  14. I have come to understand that the Coco Cay bungalows are different from the Cabanas. I also understand the bungalows are new construction on a different part of the island.

Does anyone have experience with the Bungalows and location to share?
