  1. I am a bit puzzled....how would you expect the hotel to automatically know your "society level". They would know you are financially well off which is definitely not always the same thing.

  2. Thanks all for info. We are in seven seas suite on the explorer and were assigned the lowest category room at both hotels. After contacting the hotels directly, I upgraded at an additional cost. I think something more than a standard room would have been reserved at our cabin and society level.

  3. We stayed at the Sheraton Stockholm prior to a Regent cruise. The hotel was fine...no complaints but nothing special at all. It was several blocks to the main area of Stockholm where most of the better hotels are.

  4. I would do it in a heartbeat :)

I know there are many people who don't care for the French so don't like Paris....but it is one of the GREAT cities of the world! I took my 10 year old granddaughter and her mom a couple of years ago and it was one of the most delightful trips in my life!

  5. Do any of you have friends or co-workers that also travel quite a bit even if not cruising? From reading replies on this subject it seems practically none of you have many friends or family who enjoy travel....be it cruising, or skiing, or tours of new places. Maybe it's time to make some more friends who share your interests and passions.

  6. We did SP and spent 3 days as well....Believe it was a Regent cruise. It was our first major cruise so we took the easy way out and got the ship excursions and they get the visa (I think). But it is only good as long as you are in that group excursion. I think if I were to do it again I would get my own visa so not be attached to any group....more freedom to wander around....which I missed as we always do that in cities (but that is just my husband and I traveling around Europe). That way you browse tours and pick the ones that intrigue you.

  7. Am slightly puzzled why people repeated sail the same itinerary (more or less). Is there no interest in seeing new places? I realize that there are individuals who just like to cruise for the sheer relaxation....someone cooks for you...another picks up after you, and there is always something to do at night. I like to think of a cruise as an extremely comfortable way to go new places and explore different parts of the world. I guess it takes all of us to make it work out :)

  8. We sailed on Voyager through Baltic countries back in 2014 I think. Had a penthouse suite at stern of ship....wonderful balcony but no privacy from areas above us on the stern. However since I am a middle age American woman (read "uptight") I had no intentions of spontaneous sex or nude sunbathing. And we did not have the vibration :)

We did leave the aft draperies open when we went to bed...never gets entirely dark and there was a pinkish cast to the water.

Loved the ship.....you do get what you pay for!!! Tomi Rawls

  9. Looks like you had beautiful weather. Not always the case in Bar Harbor :(

I have often wondered if any passengers on those huge and luxurious cruise ships ever realize (or remotely care) that when they are anchored in BH....the ship can TOTALLY block the view from many many places in BH. Believe me....a view of Anthem of the Seas (and other mega ships) is NOT what the residents and land based tourists

Want to see. They want to see the open water, the islands, the sailboats etc....I assume some passengers think of that but honestly don't care....on vacation .....for most of us, it is all about OUR good times .

From a personal perspective it would be so much nicer (and less devisive ) if the cruise ships allowed into BH were MUCH smaller.

Unfortunately...I doubt that will happen anytime soon.
