  1. Mike Thank you so much for taking all of the time you have to share your cruising experiences with all of us. I have read daily and so sad to see it end, I feel like I just had to disembark.

Your pics are amazing, your review is amazing but most of all you and your family are amazing and a breath of fresh air.

My daughter and I sail as often as we can and I hope some day our ships cross.

We leave this weekend for a B2B on Elation out of New Orleans, In May we sailed a B2B2B, Imagination, Liberty, Liberty! We are very lucky.

Also you must post to me if ever you decide to land in PVD again, the airport is right in out backyard and we could have met you and your family!

Thank you again and all the best!

Oh and LOVE the map, what a great idea and it looks wonderful framed!

  2. We've cruise out of New Orleans several times, and never found it to be much different than any other port. It's busy, and of course there are a lot of people trying to get checked in and onto the ship all at once, but it seemed well organized, and we had no shortage of porters.

We do not drive to New Orleans, so I can't help you with parking, but there is a lot of parking around the cruise terminal, and there are plenty of hotels that have stay & park packages.

I will say that I was in New Orleans a couple of weeks ago on business, and noticed that they are currently doing construction on the cruise terminal. I think they are expanding it? That could have an effect on port operations.

Thank you so much for your reply! We actually fly in one day pre-cruise and are staying in the Convention Center area so are very close to the port as well as staying one day post cruise. Hoping to embark smoothly and ASAP as I am worse than a kid and can't wait to step foot on the ship!

Construction maybe did contribute to my friends issues.

  3. I will preface this with saying it has been a year since I sailed out of NO (RCL). For me it was easy and my preferred port. We generally stay on Julia where we leave our car. We spend a couple of days pre-cruise in NO. On the morning of the cruise we have a taxi take us to the port. It usually takes about 15 minutes and I have always been able to get a porter right away. I am also leaving from there Sunday, there will be two ships in port that day, so I am expecting things to be a bit more hectic. Last cruise we were the only ship in port but I have sailed from there with another ship in port, it busier but nothing terrible. Happy sailing!!

Thanks Tricia! Enjoy your cruise also :D

  4. Hi:

We are sailing out of Port Of New Orleans next week. I have heard and read the port area itself is a nightmare?

Could anyone share their experience, good, bad or ugly?

I have a friend there now on a B2B and they made them get off and won't let them get back on. Also they waited over 30 minutes yesterday for a porter?

We are the type that like to arrive the port very early.

Thank you all for any info you can share and happy cruising!

  5. Is there a Casino Host list?

We are looking at Legend in jan-feb and would love to know how the host is as we spend A LOT of time in the casino.

    thanks

You can call the Ocean Players Club. Let them know you are sailing. They can tell you who is "scheduled" to be the host. Just google Ocean Players Club for the number.

If you don't call just ask once you are onboard.

    Have a great cruise!

  6. LOVE Matt! Have sailed with him 2X and he is wonderful. Matt does a great job and is always around. What I love also is he is not annoying with announcements. We sailed the same ship within months of each other and he remembered us!

Todd Wittmer was our favorite CD but has retired and we miss him. Matt is for sure our favorite now!

  7. I'm going on my first cruise either January 22 or 29th (booking tomorrow!), and have spent the last week or so pouring over various excursions. Which tour would you recommend for St. Kitts? I noticed that Royston's provides a (small?) lunch.

If Thenford Grey, how much better is The Tour compared to the Rainforest Tour?

I can't speak for either of these tour operators but I am going on cruise number 13:)

When we were in St Kitts in April we used Javin. He is amazing and the tour is one of the best we have ever experienced of the Islands. In St Martin we use Bernard Tours and St Kitts, Javin.

Hope this helps and enjoy your first cruise. Beware though, cruising is addicting:)

  8. We just toured with Javin last month. We decided to customize our own itinerary as this was our first visit to St Kitts. Also we are not hikers.

Javin was so wonderful. He took us to all of the key points of the Island. He provided us with so much history and his knowledge. We ended the day with a couple hours beach time at the beach he and his wife were married at.

He is one of the best guides we have been with. We love Bernard on St Martin and now also love Javin.

We will for sure use him again when we return to the Island. I just can't say enough good things and we had the best day ever!

He also takes photos of you along the way and they are available afterwards on Shutterfly.

You can't go wrong with Javin and St Kitts is gorgeous!

  9. Trainman, Jim............

I can't Thank you enough for sharing your journey with us. You have touched us/me like no other.

Here on 9/11 I lost my best friend, my Dad in 1995.... tragically.

Your post have been such a comfort and inspiration.

You are a true gentleman and wonderful man.

Your love for life and Carol comes shining though with the sun and the moon on the seas.

I have been addicted to "Live From" as you have touched my heart so......

I wish you happiness and peace through any difficult periods ahead but I know deep down you will be fine.

I hope I have the honor of sailing with you some day and sharing that drinking and smoking area with you:p

Safe travels home and happy reunion with the pups........not sure what I will do without your wonderful posts to brighten my day.

    HUGS to you............

  10. That's funny.... I did inquire! Myself and my girls have this down to a science with room to spare! It's the "Aunt" that has luggage issues and we tease her all the time!!

I have had to "limit" her for this cruise....lol! If not I said she had to rent her own car for her luggage!:D

  11. Hi and Thanks,

I have a rental booked for return due to staying in MCO. I have a 2 day SUV due to amount of pax and luggage! Full size car will not cut it!

Ace wants $160 plus driver gratuity. They seem to all be about the same.

We are flying in a few days early and love to have a car pick us up at the airport! The kids love it and it's not that much more $ compared to the rental and they carry the luggage!!!:D

As far as water/beer/soda stops the hotel has a shuttle that will bring us at no charge! Once at the hotel we will not be needing a rental so we just would have more fun with a limo!!!! We had such good luck last year in MIA with Larrys limo service and were hoping we could do as well this year!!

Thanks again for the replies and I'll still be keeping an eye out for any personal experiences with the local limo companies there!

  12. Has anyone used aceluxurylimos?

I've checked with most of the others listed above....Happy limo only offers discounts on roundtrips. Ace is the most reasonable so far from Mco to the port.

I have rented a budget vehicle for the return as we will be staying in Mco post cruise.

I'm surprised there is not much info on this?
