  1. I have Texas PH plates, and have parked at the Port’s parking lot many times; never had to pay, even doing a B2B2B. No reso needed; I always get there about 1030, but have never heard of the lot being full with the usual 2 ships in port.

Once you enter the lot, tell the guide you need to get a PH or DV pass. You will park near a trailer; you will need your driver’s license and a VA card showing service-connected disability (for DV plates), or your registration for the PH plates. The attendant in the trailer will Xerox your DL and docs, and give you a pass to place in your windshield.

In over 40 cruises, I have never had a security problem at the lot. Use it without fear and enjoy your cruise.

  2. Rec'd the email invite. Already had one of the cruises listed on the invite booked, using a CR rate and a certificate from the casino for $$$ off. Figured I could just sign up for the BBQ Bash.

Was told CR only allowed one promotion code per booking, so I could either rebook without the certificate at today's higher rate and get the BBQ Bash invite, or keep the current $$$ off and CR rate, but not be allowed to go to the bash.

I went last year, great time and class act, but prefer the cheaper rate.

  3. Had the unfortunate experience of having JD as my conc twice. My wife and I are apparently not part of his “in group”. In 54 cruises, he is the only conc who I could not connect with. I never asked for anything, so it was not due to poor performance on his part. I just did not appreciate his "holier than thou" attitude. On one PC cruise, he bragged to my wife and me how he took his special favorite passengers on a private tour of Panama City; since we were not included, I was not sure why he felt he had to mention this.

For those that think he is the greatest, so be it; I must respectfully disagree.

  4. Independent driver - 888-816-0973. Give them a call to get a quote for 4 people, 8 bags, and 4 carryons and discuss a car size. That's a whole lot of luggage!!!! They don't take reservations until 4-6 weeks out, but they should be able to give you a quote.

I am on the same cruise. The traffic at the port is normally unpredictable, but it will be more so because this is a repo cruise. No one will be able to park their cars at the pier for the cruise, so everyone is going to have to get some sort of ride there. I don't know the status of the new terminal - no one has reported that construction has actually begun. At the rate they're going, the Quantum will be gone from Cape Liberty before the new terminal arrives.

Thank you all for the info.

  5. Hi. I have been given great info on this board in the past.

We are 4 adults staying at a hotel in the area near the Outlet Mall in Elizabeth, NJ. We will need transportation on a Saturday from the hotel to the Cape Liberty port for a 1 November 2014 cruise. We will have a total of 8 suitcases and 4 carry-ons.

    1. We prefer a private passenger van just for the 4 of us. Can you recommend the best company to use for a Saturday morning departure? A passenger car would not be large enough.

    2. We normally like to get to the pier at about 1030-1100 for Texas and Florida ports. Is an early arrival recommended for Cape Liberty (final Explorer departure)? If we decided on a later time, what time would be best without a lot of traffic and long lines?

Thank you in advance for any info.

  6. Hi. Many posters on this thread live in Galveston; I am hoping they can help with some info.

There is a marathon on Galveston Island 16 Feb 2014. Looking at the website, the route appears to include streets near the port area and the Strand. From past experience:

    1. Will the race impact cruise parking or entry to the port area for those that like to check in before noon?
    2. When can we expect the racers and support staff to clear the port area?

    Thank you for any information.

  7. From previous threads, it appears that stores selling wine are not conveniently located if you do not have a car. I did a map search, and it appears the closest grocery store to the hotels near the Jersey Garden Outlet Mall is a Stop and Shop on Newark AVE. I checked their web site, but could not find any info on if they sell wine. Does anyone know if they sell wine so I could stock up before the cuise from Bayonne? If so, it would be a short cab ride away. Thanks!
