Hello, we’ll be boarding in Trieste. I hope you wouldn’t mind answering a question for me. How is the temperature on board and a specially in the dining venues. Would long sleeve dress shirt for men will be fine without jacket/sweater? What about silk blouse for women or I’ll need something else to keep me comfortable? Thanks!

If I have a shipboard credit should I be able to see in the navigation app? I have it on my booking email confirmation but it's not showing in the app. We are 2 weeks out form out trip.

We are new to the O and will be on our first O cruse this fall. We did get a great deal on it and was hoping to find new 'home' with O. Now I am reading all those post and not sure it well be a case. We do book cruise only in balcony stateroom. So my question to @ak104 is - for all those compare you provided what is the price deference? I maybe not looking correctly or selection right options but from what I can see I’ll have to pay almost double for SS, SB or Regent. It that the case?

Curious as to details?
We had a connection in Toronto and had to go through customs there. We did pick a flights with plenty of time for connection but local agents were so rude, slow and aggressive about the line that we almost missed our connection. We have been in line for 3 hr. We were not the only ones as they end up delaying our second flight as half of the plane was missing for the departure. When we ask if we can skip ahead the line people were OK with it but the agent in the room start screaming that she is going to send us back to the end of the line if we move.

We did Alaska in 2019 and flight though Canada was absolutely the worth experience ever we had with the air travel. We are taking another cruise to Alaska this summer and decided on Seattle round trip just to insure we have a better air experience.

Welcome to Oceania! Wow, are you in for a treat. We sailed, with our friends Mike and Carol, a few years back, and he created this marvelous review of our cruise on the Riviera. We have been back a few times since then (9x to be exact, and once on Marina - her sister ship) this past March 2023. Had a fabulous time again. We're booked on the Oceania Vista Dec 1, 2023 and Feb 18, 2024. The roll calls are pretty quite, but anyway......here's Mike's review, complete with photos and menus.
So.....get a big cup of coffee or a glass of wine and enjoy!
https://www.thepreismans.com/riviera_mayan.htmThank you so much! This is an awesome information, greatly appreciated.
One more question - if someone celebrating a birthday during cruse any special arrangements are available? Like room decorations, favorite mini cake…

Hello.
When will be the best time to check for the available upgrade/up-sell? I have seen on the boards anything from 8-2 weeks out. I am not asking aboutthose with email notification. I am interested if someone had luck just calling in and asking for it. Did you get upgraded? What category from>>to? How much did you pay? How far out were you from your boarding day?
Thanks!

As discussed here many times, when you remove the automatic tips, the supervisor of your cabin attendants or dining room staff are notified. The supervisor will advise the employees of the removal of the automatic tips.
I can understand that, but what about other that I tipped – like in bars, buffet, spatiality dining? I hope they don’t expected to turn in their tips as I feel it was a reason I tip them directly - as they provided exceptional service to me.

Hello - is there a way to know ahead of time what menu will be in the MDR each night? Does MDR has a menu rotation? This will help us decide when we would like to eat in the MDR vs specialty dining vs Terrace. Does specialty dining menus the same every night or they also have some kind of rotation?

How would crew member know if they can keep the tip? Do they need to check account for everyone who tip them? What if someone decided to remove auto tip last moment (I hope this does not happen) but I can't imaging crew members has time for that kind of research. I think there is a big disconnect between those who provided answers and those who actually works on the ships.

Hello - for those who is doing private transfers please share what company you are using.
Thanks!

Hello! We have not sail for 4-5 years and even then never on HAL so I have a few questions about MDR. We are planning Alaska this summer on the Westerdam.
1. Is there restriction on how many app/soup you can order. Sometimes we would like to order extra app to share just to try something. Is it allowed? Extra charge or not?
2. Same about entry ( very rare but could happen)
3. Does HAL have cheese plate in MDR? Does they count it as app or desert? Can I just ask for one to go? If MDR does not have it is there ‘create my own’ option to grab it from Lido?
4. Is taking food from Lido back to the cabin OK or not? I know I can order room service but sometimes I just like to grab a few things from Lido and bring them to my room.
Thanks!

Hello - a few more questions from the newbie. We are not getting ‘Have is All’ as it’s will not work or us. Only one person in the cabin drinks alcohol (and maybe 2-3 per day the most). We were looking into other option but wondering if all have to be purchased for both people in the room. For example – can only one person get Quench? We can always pay as we go but I can’t find pricing for that to see if package even worth considering. I would like to know price for coffee (black), cappuccino, sparkling water. Also does Coca-Cola package for soda only or include sparkling and plain water (does not have to be bottled)? How about beverage cards - are those same as just paying as you go or they give you any advantage?
Thanks!

Hello and welcome to the Oceania family. We are newbies as well with our first cruise a few months back on the newly remodeled riviera. Looks like your cruise is port intensive with only one sea day so you should keep busy. We thought boat looked great, service was amazing and for the most part food was very good. Do try all of the dining venues. So many things to talk about and lots of great threads and posters here with info. Let us know what specifically interests you and we are here to help.
Do try Baristas for coffee.
Do try terrace buffet sitting outside if possible when they have grilled to order steak, lamb chops, x large shrimp, lobster tails etc.
Do take a tour of the ships artwork.
Do enjoy some time by the pool.
Do stop by the library for a book.
thank you Woffa! we'll defiantly going to try Baristas for coffee and terrace buffet. How far in advance we should look into booking restaurants for dinner? WE booked via TA – can we book our dining or she will have to do it for us? Looking for info about laundry options on board and what drinks are included with the fare price.

Go to the rollcall for this cruise. You'll meet others who will be cruising with you. It's usually a wealth of information
Thank you Mrs f. - already did that but roll call seems very quiet. Maybe because it's still kind off far out.

Hello! Oceania newbie here! We just booked our first Oceania (this will be our first luxury cruise). We have cruised before with Royal, Celebrity and Princess but I think we outgrow them. Looking for any recommendations you are willing to provide for us. We’ll be on Rivera for 10 night from Venice to Athens in the fall of 2023 in balcony cabin (B2). Thanks! Irina

1. If you have cruised on another CCL ship, you will be considered a 1* Mariner but with 0 sea days. That gets you a tile. but no other "perks"
thank you for the answers. How do I get my 1* Mariner - do i need to call HAL?

Just booked! This will be out first HAL cruise. July 9-16, 2023, Westerdam- Alaska
We have cruised with Royal, Celebrity and Princess before. I tried to read info for new HAL cruisers but still have a few questions as some of the info may have changed.
1.Does HAL offer status match with any other lines (like Royal and Celebrity)? I think NO, but will still ask
2.Does HAL have Captain/Gala reception with ‘free’ drinks? Or any other similar events
3.Does Westerdam have steam room/sauna? Free or for the fee?
4. Can I bring wine on-board (with cork fee) for the room consumption? If so is it one per cabin or per adult over 21? If not can I buy a wine by bottle to keep it in my room?
5.What juice/lemonade/iced tea is available with no extra charge? Where and with what meal?
6. Does rooms are usually ready at the time of boarding or we need to wait for certain time before we can drop items in our cabin?
7.Does balcony on deck 7 have bathtub or shower only?
8.How big is the safe – will tablet/laptop fit or it’s only for cash/passports/jewelry?
9.Is there a game room with games and cards to borrow or just to use there?
thanks!

We used this company. The owner, a German expat named Dirk, took us up into the center of the island where we stopped for a cappuccino, drove up into a park and learned a bit about the local flora/fauna,then to a goat farm/agritourisimo where we had a great lunch and heard about the traditional culture, then stopped at a small pocket beach to swim with the locals. There was a food cart at the beach which made a nice late afternoon snack before the drive back to the ship.
It was a very nice way to see the island and learn about the culture.
We also took a trip with Dirk - I would highly recommend him. It was the highlight of our cruise.

Wealso were very disappointed with the 'new' menus. We were on Jewel in Europeand food in the dining room was way below our expectation. We took the sameship back in December of 2017 (Caribbean) and food was much better back then.On another hand we found windjammer food to be very good on the latest trip.
Weonly eat in the dining room 4 night so maybe we just got very unlucky with ourfood choices.
Examples:
1. I tryed to order meat twice, both times medium. First time my steak was so over donethat reminded me the shoe leather. The second time it was completely row on theinside.
2. Salmonwas dry and tasteless.
3. Servicetook over 2.5 hours on some night resulting in inconsistent food temperature.
4. Fryfood was extremely over fried to the point that you could not determine whatyou are eating.
