No, it did not.  But it is good to know another name even though we have generally had good wait staff (particularly assistant or junior waiters) on all our cruises.  But our last cruise was simply exceptional and we were onboard for a 14 day cruise which made it even better.

We had  excellent service on the Enchanted with Sheldon. I hope we can meet up again on a future cruise. Made our cruise!

  2. Go and enjoy every moment. I went on this cruise solo a few years back. It was a bucket list trip for me and it was magical. If you want to be with people you can and if you want quiet reflection time you can do that. Don't worry about other people and just be your self. I would do this cruise again.

  3. The Island Princess is my least favorite ship. It had a different feeling about it and was not easy to navigate. We were in the new section and it was awkward. It is the only Princess ship I would not book again. I have been on 7 different lines and have  3 cruises booked on Princess in the next 18 months. I am thrilled to be back cruising but we do have choices.

Not the ATW 2021 or any of it's segments...this is a circumnavigation of South America itinerary in Jan, 2020.  No choice of ship cuz no other ship does it.  It's a once-done unusual itinerary.

QUESTION: are the balcony cabins at the back of the Promenade deck OK?  I'm assuming they are part of the remodeling that was done.  Most importantly...DOES THE BALCONY HAVE GLASS OR IS IT METAL?

I had an aft suite on the Island. The main problem was the narrow hall leading to the aft cabins. Will anyone be using a scooter or wheelchair? If so when you leave your cabin you have to locate the steward to move carts. The balcony was nice but the ship was crowded and not easy to navigate.

  5. I am sorry you ran into this obstacle. Thank you for sharing the information for the other travelers like myself that have special needs. Why don't the cruise lines listen and think of all the travelers that might need accomodations. I really believe there are many people who would benefit from changes. We should be able to go and enjoy every area of the ships. I was just on the Island and it was not an easy trip. On the promonnade deck there were no automatic doors to go out and enjoy the deck. I am using a scooter and there were many times I was not able to proceed without assistance.I could go on and on about what we experienced.

  6. I just thought of something else. I know ships help families scatter ashes at sea I and seem to remember with the ship involved you could place a special wreath in a loved ones honor.

If you would like I would be glad to find out for you. Just post your feelings.

  7. I join the others in saying how sorry I am for your loss. I am single and solo cruise as often as I can. You can be with people as much as you want and you can have quiet time when you wish.

May I suggest you plan a time on a cruise to celebrate the time you had with your wife. Did you enjoy looking at the night sky? Watching the waves? Spend some peaceful positive time with your memories. I bet she would smile.

  8. Hi Nana,

This was so nice for you. I once golfed with a pair of sisters from Canada who cruise ALLOT and this sounds just like them. Was one of their names Anne?

    This thread is great.

I believe we have different sets of sisters. Mine never mentioned golf. Canada must be filled with matched sets of wonderful cruising sisters.

I hope to meet them again somewhere in the world.

    Smooth sailing

  9. This is a great positive post. I was on the Crown Princess last year and enjoyed a group of Knitters and Knatters that got together almost every day to do needlework.

We had cruisers from all over the world and enjoyed chatting, working on projects and laughing.

There were two sisters from Canada that cruised quite a bit. We would sit together and enjoy chatting about life. I have a health condition that makes my feet swell and one foot is always larger than the other.

I had mentioned to them that I wished I had brought slippers for when the cabin is cool and you guessed it.....they made me a custom pair of slippers! They made sure the fit was perfect on my odd sized feet.

I was so touched by the kindness. I certainly hope to meet them again and give them a hug. There is always wonderful, caring folks around and they do out number the crabby pants crowd.

    Smooth sailing

  10. What!! Don't worry about size, just have fun. You will see fellow cruisers in all sizes believe me. It does not matter at all.

I am a fluffy Nana and I have a condition that causes swelling. I will cruise as often and as far as I can.

Last year I went to Tahiti and went swimming with the rays. The world is still spinning and the rays didn't care. All around the world I have seen some good sized wonderful Native people.

Everyone is different and everyone has challenges so just go with a big smile and teach your son that it is what is in your heart that counts. I would love to lose weight but if you see me my face will greet you with a smile. I might be smaller for my next cruise but I am the exact same person.

Enjoy every minute of life and try and unload some of the stress. I know it is very hard but do not pack any extra burdens.

    Smooth sailing

  11. Coffee water is what happens when you put hot water in a container that has held coffee. The water takes on the flavor of old coffee that ruins the tea.

Some containers are hard to clean and the coffee has been left in the container long enough to flavor the water. They should use dedicated pots and serving containers for both hot water and others for coffee.

I love a good tea party!

  12. Hello,

I wish it had involved a balcony or suite but I was happy with my no charge upgrade from an inside to an obstructed ocean view. This was for a 28 day cruise. The obstruction was not bad and it was nice to see blue sky.

Both cabins were HA and I got the call out of the blue.

    Happy cruising

  13. Good morning Isobel

I had a wonderful solo cruise for 28 days late last year.I was on the Crown.

I always felt that if I needed some assistance that it was at hand but I could enjoy my solo experience.

I was active on my roll call and had contacts for the cruise even before we boarded. I booked some excursions with them and participated in activities like Slot pull and Cabin Crawl. I also enjoyed ship activities and spent time with a wonderful group of needle artists.

I was upgraded from my original cabin and I hope that happens on my next cruise! It is for 36 days. My cabin steward was excellent and very helpful as was all the Princess crew.

BTW I travel with a scooter, walker and cane. I swam with the rays and had lunch on a private island. If I can do it so can you. You can be as busy or quiet as you like.

Enjoy every minute of your cruise!

    Happy cruising to all

  14. I am 60 years young and have cruised solo several times. I have met interesting people at breakfast in the main dining room. We usually meet at the bars or tour excursions for the remainder of the cruise. I reserve a solo table for My Time Dining. All in all, I enjoy being with others and having the option for "me" time when needed.

I wish you were going on my next two cruises! I really like your idea of the solo table and I think I will bring the idea up on my roll calls.

    Thank you and happy cruising.

  15. Happy cruising to all and especially the fluffy cruisers,

I just placed another order with Full Beauty. They have a huge selection from multiple catalogs. They have a large range of sizes also. You can order from multiple sites and simplify the whole process.

If you sign up for their emails you will get tons of digital coupons.

I have gotten swimsuits and a great swim top for all day coverage at the beach or pool.
