I think you should forget about lunch. Enjoy a wonderful "bite" with a mai tai after your tour.
Is your car rental at the airport or off property, which requires a shuttle?
Be sure to join you car rental loyalty program which will speed up getting your car.
And, I do not know where you are flying into HNL from, but often flights from LAX are 30 minutes early arriving in HNL. This helps with a tight schedule once you arrive. If you will be carrying on your luggage, it will also help.
Is it possible for you to make a reservation for later tour, just in case you don't get there an hour ahead? For $1.50 per ticket I would want the peace of mind in having later tickets just in case. But, 2:45 is close to the last tickets for the day. Also, if you are late there may still be tickets available.
Enjoy your visit, Cherie
Thanks Cherie. I'm fairly certain we have to shuttle to get it, but I'm not positive. Either way we are flying in from LAX so hopefully early (initially flying from Toronto). I think we are the last reso at 245 so perhaps you are right that we don't have to rush to get tickets since they may have extras. I think we'll play it safe though and follow your suggestion to eat after; this is our only day to do PH and we don't want to miss it!

Piggybacking on this thread - we booked our tour for 245pm and we arrive in from our flight at 1245pm - does that give us enough time to pick up our rental car and grab a bite to eat?

In case anyone wants actual confirmation, I rec'd this email response back when I emailed the harbor master at Kahului
Aloha,
Unfortunately there is no designated safe parking at the harbor. You would have to park at the airport a couple of miles away.
Have a nice trip,
Steve

As silly as it sounds I hadn't even thought of that - only there for a night so thought we'd just cab and Uber! However I think it may even be cheaper and easier to rent a car via discounthawaiirentals! Thanks!

Hi All
I've tried searching for this and haven't found an answer to this yet - perhaps my question is a bit too unique.
We are flying in to Honolulu, arriving around 1pm HST. We made reservations to see the Arizona et al at 245 via the reservations.gov website. My question for you is - can we go right from the airport to PH and store our large baggage in the baggage storage. I've read about it and know it's $3 but I haven't been able to find a size limit. We're going on a cruise later so we will have one large bag and two carry-ons.
I'm trying to see if it makes sense to do this, rather than go drop our stuff off at the hotel, then go all the way back to PH.
Thanks for any tips from people who might have done the same!

Hawaiian air is a real good deal and offers lots of times.

It really wasn't bad. There were lines of cars going up. We arrived at the summit a little after 4am. Just go slow, pay attention, be careful, take your time, and follow the traffic. I'd be more scared in a bus to be honest...
Did you have any issues with the Maui Mall and did you notice other cruisers park there??? Thanks!

Interested in what you decided to do as we were planning on doing the crater too at the end of July

No Water at Kipahulu (Haleakala)
in Hawaii
Posted
Hi All
Just a heads up if anyone is heading to the Pipiwai Trail (approx 10 miles past Hana) there is a water issue and you will have to bring your own drinking water.
"Due to a leak in the main waterline in the Kīpahulu District of Haleakalā National Park, there is no water in Kīpahulu for the foreseeable future. The leak was discovered during routine inspections. Visitors should bring their own drinking water and plan on using port-a-johns until further notice."
