  1. I have had good and bad experiences with special events. You need to follow up. I was directed to them for some party of 12 reservations on an upcoming sailing. I called a few times (was given conflicting info on 2 calls) and finally emailed per their request (which would have been nice to know after 1 call told me they would take care of it). It took 12 days for a response.

  2. I can't compare the 2 lines, but have done 2 cruises on Regatta (in 14 and then in 18)...both times there was nothing to complain about, on the ship, except for the Internet. Owners suite in 14 and a PH in 18. I guess the PH bathroom was a little bit of a change from the OS! 🙂 I'm actually quite fond of Regatta and would gladly cruise on it, anytime.

were you both in A cabins ?

I think the PH & Suites  get a different brand  than the  A cabins

Ah, that explains. Boyfriend and I were PH and mom wasn't.

I've seen Perrier Jouet and Veuve Clicquot. The PJ was in another cruisers suite and they at the time were one of the top cruisers on Oceania. I doubt everyone gets that one. I believe we got the Veuve Clicquot on our 20th cruise.

Our upcoming cruise in the fall is my mom's 20th..will have to see if she gets the good stuff 🙂

  4. I have actually seen two different brands of champagne. My mother had one, and my SO and I another, on the same cruise, in February. For the life of me I can't recall what either were and I just deleted the pics I took of the bottle in the wine cooler

Isn't it two per person per restaurant?  We are sailing ten days with my brother and sil so I assume we can join them on their reservations and them on ours?

It's not per person, it's per cabin. We are doing 16 days and both my mother (single in a cabin) and my BF/I each get 2 reservations per restaurant, for the trip. We do book our dining together.

  6. I look forward to the oil and vinegars in Toscana, on each cruise...are they still doing it in Tuscan Steak? We're sailing Sirena in November..

I tend to prefer Toscana and Polo, as it hits the staples that I like. We did not do Red Ginger our last cruise as my mom isn't a fan, but since Sirena is limited on specialities, will likely make a reservation there on our upcoming cruise. Jacques was good when we were last there, but found the service a bit lacking.

  7. Has anyone ever tried to do more on board, than just general surfing with the free account. And I read somewhere on here, that the upgraded account wasn't worth anything more. Can anyone confirm their experience? I'll be onboard 16 days later this year, and was hoping to bring my work laptop and get a little bit of work done. I'd need to do web surfing and get emails (including sending/receiving Word documents).

Our experience on the Riviera this past summer -- 100 + children for back to back cruises in the Med.  Babies to under age 21 -- tables of 4-6 in specialties with children only under the age of 10-- under 3's dining with parents and grandparents.  Luckily, it was a port intensive cruise.   There was a large group from a wine organization on one segment , closing some venues for their get togethers, maybe that was the source of the families with young children?? The kids weren't all well behaved -- we had kids running in the hallways screaming after 10pm.  I felt sorry for the staff in the specialties trying to keep the kids controlled.  This was more than we have experienced on Celebrity during the same time in the Med.  Last time for us with Oceania in the Med in the summer.  Fortunately, we can now travel at other times of the year.

I wonder did that cruise have the kids specialty program? We did Regatta (Alaska) this past summer and there was a Junior Explorer program that my 11 year old daughter participated in, along with at least 10+ other kids. They enjoyed it and most of the children seemed to be aged 10 and up, and were all well behaved thankfully, whether on the deck, in the pool/hot tub, or in dining areas 🙂

  9. I was surprised also, today, to see everything booked except one 8:30 table at Polo. (We're on the Feb 17 Riviera cruise) I am in a Suite, so was able to do 2 6:30 tables a few weeks back, but to see nothing available, was surprising. We were able to get reservations on our June cruise, within the 45 day window. Absolutely will see what we can do on board as Toscana is a MUST for me..I need the oil and vinegars :classic_biggrin:

  10. Take a taxi or Uber to Total Wines (yes, they have spirits too) on the outskirts of South Beach. Their prices (even with tax) will usually be far better than any "duty free" shop.

If my understanding is correct, Total Wine may also deliver a larger/minimum order (like a case of wine) to your hotel.

Of course, not all cruise lines allow a case. But, it's not an issue with Oceania.

Good to know there is a Total Wine there. I'll plan to hit it before our cruise!

  11. I did this cruise last September. Weather prevented us from stopping in Nanortalik but were able to do all other stops. We did a few included tours at most stops, and the only one that was somewhat dissatisfactory was Quebec City, only because the tour was cut quite short due to some traffic issues they had and so it was rushed and not in it's entirety. Weather was decent. I dressed about the same as I did for a summer Alaska cruise...Reykjavik was quite rainy and my mother and I walked into town from where the bus dropped off. We honestly were there for Icelandic wool and didn't do a tour (regretted it later because I think I'd like to see the country).

  12. We're sailing Regatta at the end of the month and have booked the Pan Pacific. We've stayed at the Vancouver one when sailing and have had excellent stays, so figured Seattle would be good, and relatively convenient (plus in a great location in town for us to go out and about on Thursday)

  13. We're thinking to bring some wine on board our upcoming trip. Haven't done it before. Is there a corkage fee charged if we drink the wine in our room, as opposed to in a dining room? I'm not a very experienced cruiser and this would be first time I'd be bringing anything on board.

  14. We went last year on another line-their last of the season on August 19. They said it was the best weather of all of the cruises. Earlier in the summer there is more rain than later apparently. We're doing Disney to Alaska next summer and have chosen the latest date we could because of kids starting back to school, so we're doing end of July.
