  1. We were offered a similar option in the casino on Solstice last year and on Millennium in March. I can’t remember the extra $$$ offered but was worth it for us. I haven’t seen it offered before in the cruise planner.

  2. In Australia since December 2016 Celebrity and RC have included gratuities in the fares. P&O and Carnival did it before then but not sure of timing.

Always paid the gratuities when I booked but I know a lot of Aussies were against this which is why it was changed.

I didn’t see a marked change in prices and we no longer have loooong threads on social media complaining about the gratuity issue.

    Cheers, Diane

  3. Haven’t sailed with RC since Legend was sold and have been giving X a try. I have never received emails from Casino Royale and assumed as it’s been three years since playing the their casinos I would no longer be a member as I thought it was a yearly thing.

I’m in Aus and just received an offer (by snail mail) for 2 nights accommodation and $250 off a cruise of my choice to go and meet the team? Trouble is it’s in 2 weeks and the accommodation is in Auckland NZ and would cost us more than that in airfares.

Just wondering if this is a new thing with Club Royale or just a new thing for us Aussies?

  4. Hi G.M.T,

Not that the $6 was an issue but I travelled on a British passport while my husband is Australian and we were both charged the visa cost.

  5. Hi All

I guess as we sail from Sydney and go to the South Pacific Islands we will go through customs in Sydney (Haven't cruised out of Aust before as we live here) and again when we arrive back in Sydney. Will I buy duty free bottles on the ship to bring back into Australia and are they even worth buying on ships. When we fly out of Australia we buy our alcohol though they store it at the airport to pick up before going back through customs. We do tend to buy elite alcohol that you wouldn't drink everyday. Many Thanks

    Hi Rod and Deb,

Depending on your alcohol of choice and what islands you are visiting the cost of duty free can be quite reasonable. The cheapest I have found was in Vila and they had a fairly good selection. You can also buy in Noumea, though they didn’t have as much to choose from.

Sometimes the cruise ship duty free can be worth buying but again not a large selection.

    Happy cruising

  6. I’m sorry to read this. Is the difference due to exchange rate? Or higher taxes? You realize the prices posted were fares only, right? In the US fares are quoted sans taxes/fees, but those are certainly added to our total cost.

I just checked the Connie price from Abu Dhabi...for Aussies to book this the cheapest inside is $1017US sans taxes.

We also don’t have the same cancellation policies that US cruisers have, not sure why.

  8. Seems like the banks have decided that as long as you’re healthy and have no pre existing they’re happy to cover you.

After finding out they would not cover my husband through the CC but were happy to take the money if we paid for the full insurance I told them to stick it.

I just bought our insurance through insure and go and it came in over $200 cheaper than Allianz.

I was going to find another CC provider but will wait and see how far reaching these changes will go.

  9. The letter addresses people from countries needing „real“ visas. Don’t know how to say it differently. These visas have never been organised by Celebrity.

We received the same information before our cruise. But all was fine.

Don‘t know the regulations for Australian citizens, so please check just to be sure.

And don’t forget the copy of your passport, that goes for everyone.

Lot of people did not bring one when we checked in, resulting in longer waiting times because copies had to be made by the staff.

    Thanks for the response Miaminice,

I was confused by the wording as it says ‘all guests must hold valid visas for all ports of call’. I don’t need one for Vietnam apparently as I’m travelling on a British passport but my hubby has an Australian passport and the travel advice says he will need one.

I just wish Celebrity would make things a bit clearer

    Anyway thanks again

    Diane

  10. I am trying to find a link to the menu or break down of prices to see just how much and the drinks that the classic package would cover...anyone have a link or pics or a site that has this?

This is what I found after a search. Hope it helps [emoji2]
