  1. We sailed on QV last year to the Caribbean and back in November/December. The Xmas decorations appeared gradually but the main ones were up the day after Thanksgiving which is in line with the USA custom for putting decorations up. We are also on this cruise leaving Southampton on 28 November which is Thanksgiving and as the following day is a sea day i would expect to see decorations up when we board.

  2. You are allowed to bring "a reasonable amount of alcohol on board" . Cunard do not define what is reasonable so  suspect a case or two is fine especially if when asked you say that you were hoping to take some home and are not therefore intending to drink it all on the cruise.

  3. My wife uses a mobility scooter ( TGA Eclipse) We have cruised with the scooter on Norwegian and on Cunard Queen Victoria. You will need to ensure that you are in a mobility cabin as most cabins are not wide enough for the scooter and we certainly had problems on Norwegian Escape. Cunard were great and we are doing  a 24 nighter next month. I cannot speak for Silversea but they should  be fine. You will need to complete a questionnaire concerning disabilities .

Scooter cost approx £800 and has been great.

  4. My wife is diabetic and the fridge is needed to store her insulin. We always make this clear before we sail but of course the fridge is full with the minibar when we arrive so it is always the first thing we ask.

  5. Not sure how helpful this is! On the two t/a sailings we have done on the QV we did not see many people using the casino tables- a few more using the slot machines. The casino is next door to the pub and the theatre.

  6. We stayed in this cabin in January 2017 (southampton to FL) before the refit. My wife has a mobility scooter so we requested a disabled cabin. A really great cabin with a large balcony. The only problem we had was that the emergency button was behind the cushions and went off a few times so much so that we had to tell the pursers office to ignore it. If we had a problem we would pull the alarm cord.

  7. I think Cunard deliberately keep this as confusing as possibble. Before bringing my whisky and Baileys on board I did call and was told that you can bring spirits in reasonable quantities without of course defining what reasonable means! They do have a caveat to forbid you bringing alcohol on board but also say they will only use that in exceptional circumstances whatever they are.
