  1. Yes there are laundry rooms on decks 2 and 5-10 on the Dream. You pay with your key to the world card. If I remember correctly it cost $5 for detergent, a wash cycle and a dry cycle. You can have your room attendant wash and iron your clothes but, the cost is much higher.

  2. I am ready to pull the trigger and book the Castaway Cay double dip on the Dream for June 25th 2017 but, I am a little hesitant because I am unsure of the weather. If you have cruised to the Bahamas in June did you find that it was too hot and muggy? Are the seas typically rougher this time of year? Any pros and cons you can share would be helpful.

  3. True' date=' and being in a boat doesn't bother me. But water skiing is being in the lake. I have an issue with signs reading "No Swimming," while at the same time Disney makes money off of water skiing in the same lake. My reversal of opinion is based on the idea that either it is safe to be in the lake or it is not. It can't be safe when you are paying to do it and unsafe when you walk in from the beach.

They also rent fishing boats and boats for various other activities. I suppose a gator could come out of the water and jump into a boat, but somehow this doesn't seem very likely. And I guess there is always a risk of a boat not remaining in the position in which it is intended to be operated--again, a stretch if it is being used properly. Those activities have an inherent risk which you accept when doing them.

On the water is one thing, but I still can't give Disney the ability to have it both OK and not OK to be IN the water.[/quote']

    Great post! I completely agree.

  4. I disagree with some of the posts in this thread, I believe Disney is 99% responsible for what happened to that little boy. It has been reported that multiple Disney employee’s had addressed their concerns regarding Gators in the lagoon, yet Disney turned a blind eye.

If you know that there are Gators in the water then why would you allow patrons access to the water’s edge? Regardless of whether this child was in a foot of water, a few inches or at the water’s edge does not matter, a Gator can come on land and easily snatch a small kid. Disney placing Gator warning signs is not enough they need to prevent access to any water that has Gators in it.

Having just returned for Disney World I never once thought about Alligators, seeing what just happened I feel pretty dumb because I would not have hesitated allowing my two boys to go to the water’s edge. I hope Disney puts up barriers along with signage to protect their guests.

  5. I suggest that before you sign up for the free 50MB package that you go to the Connect at Sea desk on deck 4 and have them disable any background apps that are running. I went through 50MB within a few hours because of background apps, icloud wanting to store my photos and my Iphone wanting to install an update. I went to the Connect at Sea desk and they configured my phone and credited my Mega Byte’s after talking with them. The whole process took less than 5 minutes. Another thing that no one mentioned is that when you sign into the data plan you must sign out every time or the Mega Byte’s keep accumulating. They do have a speedometer type of meter that shows how much data you have used so it is easy to track.

  6. Hi Tgann! My DW, two boys 3yr and 5yr old and I were on the Dream last week. I can tell you that you are in for a great time. If your kids are like mine the must do’s are the AquaDuck, playing in the pools and hot tubs, eating ice cream three times a day, ordering warm chocolate chip cookies from room service before bed, seeing the characters, going to the nightly shows, and don’t miss the pirate party. We had the early seating and after each meal the kids wanted to get their swim shorts on and head back to the pools so we only saw a show on the last night. For our next cruise we will be going to the shows every night since we enjoyed it so much. We stayed on the ship while we in port at Nassau and it was nice to have a much less crowded pool deck.

For the movies they were showing Bridge of Spies, Star Wars, Zootopia, Avengers (I believe), The Good Dinosaur, and on the last night the new Jungle Book. We saw Zootopia on one of the sea days. Let me know if you have any questions.

  7. Just call DCL and have the request placed on your reservation. They'll give you the "it's just a request, yada, yada, yada", but just agree and ask for the request to be placed there.

If you used a TA, then they are the ones who must contact DCL to have the request put on the reservation.

I called DCL and they gave me the yada yada. They noted my request and told me I would know when I board if it was granted. Thanks again.

  8. My wife and I are trying to decide if we want to request our own table during dinner or do we just let Disney group us up with another family. It would be nice to get grouped up with another family that had kids the same age as my 5yr and 2.5yr old so that they can make friends on-board. Another side of me says what if we get stuck with an awkward group and we spend the next four nights starring at each other. I would love to hear your thoughts and experiences on this topic.

  9. I am starting to second guess my room selection on the Disney Dream. My family and I will be staying in room #9508, which is obviously on deck #9 and in the front of the ship. My concern is that we may fell more motion and one of us will end up getting sea sick. Have any of you stayed on an upper deck and in the front of the ship? How was the motion? We are sailing in April.

  10. I did all three on a Carnival cruise years ago. I must say that I would not waste your time going to hell, it is a bunch of rocks behind the post office. The turtle farm was ok, but I think I would enjoy more now that I have kids. String Ray City was a great experience. If I return to Grand Cayman I would probably do String Ray City again or just spend the day at the beach.

  11. Thanks Shomoo :)

Awesome information Moki. We are planning to on board while at Nassau to take advantage of a less populated boat and hopefully get a few rides on the AquaDuck. It’s funny you mentioned booking our next cruise on board because we were just talking about that. Lol we haven’t even been on a Disney cruise yet and we are already talking about booking another on. Vacations are great!

  12. My wife, two children ages 2 and 4, and myself will be on the Disney Dream for their 4-night cruise next April 2016. I am trying to gauge how much money we will need for on board expenses. I know that alcohol, the spa and off shore excursions require additional money, but what else is not included? If you don’t mind sharing how much did you spend? Also, if you know where I could find a price list that would be great. Thanks!
