  1. I just did the check in for our April Magic cruise--this is our first since the arrival appointment system.

We are in a suite, so I didn't "rush" (aka do it the first day) to do the on line check in, as I thought given that we had a suite, we would go before FTTF, etc.  It gave me a 12:30 arrival time.....  can I show up early and get right on, or will they have us sit around until 12:30?

    thanks,

    Kevin

  2. I was on the 3/29 cruise as well. I found it disappointing that there was no explanation as to how the Princess ship got in but we didn't.

then I saw a message on john's facebook page thanking him for carnival letting another ship in when we couldn't make it.

Anyways, I heard a couple different stories:

    1) The Princess ship made it in first, if we had beaten them, then we would have gotten in.

    2) With the Dream class of ship, we couldn't get in with the winds no matter what.

It would have been nice for it to be clear from the captain which it was other than the winds (which according to the TV with <=20 knots).

  3. You hike almost back to the ship from the cabanas to get to Fat Tuesday's.

There are a couple of restaurants/bars right by the cabanas which is where your wait staff will go. Probably more selection there than at FTs, which is primarily an open air bar at MBCC.

What do they have? things like burgers and dogs?

  4. So.... we are looking at a cruise next year when the kids are on spring break. We are planning on getting a separate cabin for the them - DD will be 17, DS will be 14. We want a balcony for us, and interior for them. Booking a year out (hope to be able to book within a couple of weeks), how hard will it be to get a cabin for them basically across from us?

If I put that I want 2 rooms into CCL's booking engine, it wants to give me 2 of the same category, so I'm struggling to do research.

Also, any tips for having them in a separate cabin?

    Thanks,

    Kevin

  5. Spring break should be over by then.

Galveston does not attract the hordes of college students like South Padre or some Florida beaches.

Can't answer your question about the hotel as we live here:)

Thanks much! That is a relief. Only other cruise out of Galveston we got fogged in and out, because I didn't do enough research to know January was bad for that. Trying to avoid any surprises.

We may do Schlitterban either before or after too.... thinking we fly into IAH on a late flight in Friday, enjoy the area Saturday, cruise Sun-Sun, enjoy Sunday after we get back, fly home Monday.

  6. We are looking at cruising out of Galveston 3/29/15. Last time we were there we stayed at the Quality inn/suites on Seawall. Looking to do 1-2 nights pre-cruise, and 1 night post-cruise?

Will we be clear of the college spring breakers?

Last time we stayed there was jan 2012. Hotel still ok?

    Thanks,

    Kevin
