I have to second Aquahound on Royal Caribbean for this particular group.  We've sailed in Alaska with other lines over the years, and if the priority is a wide variety of entertainment for various ages, I don't think anyone comes close to them.

what about the itineraries?  does the larger ship limit them on where they can go?  seems I read that somewhere...

  2. Hi!

I'm helping a family of 12 pick an Alaskan cruise.  Grandparents, parents with 4 kids, parents with 2 kids.  Kids are 8-16 yrs old.  Grandparents are especially interested in the ship that will have the best activity/entertainment options for all the ages.  They do not want Disney.  They did not have the best experience with Princess but did not entirely rule them out.

Celebrity and Holland America look nicer than RCL and NCCL but will there be enough other kids on those ships?

Thanks for your firsthand experience and feedback!!

We are also on the May 31st sailing and we were also concerned when we saw that the cruise documents indicated that disembarkation would start at 9:00 because we have a flight at 11:15 am. Based on other MSC postings about disembarkation experiences we planned to request priority disembarkation once on board and to carry off our own luggage and just hope for the best.

Today our travel agent emailed us REISSUED e-tickets with a new ticket number. On Page 4 it now shows  that disembarkation starts at 7:00 AM instead of 9:00 AM. Hopefully that news  will make you feel better.  If you weren't sent revised e-tickets you can view/print your latest e-tickets on the MSC website using the "Web Check-In" link ---  https://www.msccruisesusa.com/en-us/Manage-Your-Booking/Web-Check-In.aspx

I still don't see that... I see that the ship docks at 7:00am but disembarkation is still 9:00am... I definitely plan to speak to them the day we embark to discuss disembarkation...

  4. How is disembarkation from the Bellissima in Barcelona?

I thought we would disembark early enough for a 10:45am flight but in my paperwork I see that disembarkation starts at 9:00am.

Can anyone tell me if disembarkation started earlier than that?  Not sure what to do!

    Thank you!

Is the requirement for everyone in a cabin to purchase a drink package only for alcohol?  Can only one person in the cabin purchase a nonalcohol  package or must both purchase it?

my understanding is that both must purchase it

  6. Hi! We are sailing on May 31 and trying to get things situated... I haven't watched your video yet because I wanted to throw my question out here quickly... How much do the "additional activities" cost?  bowing, f-1, XD cinema, etc... I see that there is a fun pass available to purchase ahead of time but I don't know if 1 pass is enough if I don't know the cost of the activities.

Also, do you have drink prices from the Bellissima?  I have seen MSC drink lists posted but wasn't sure if it's the same on every ship.

Now I'm going to watch your video!

    thanks!

  7. Has anyone cruised with them lately with a drink package? I think the policy is ridiculous that all passengers traveling or dining together must have the SAME package.  We are traveling with 3 other families. Some of them may not want drink packages... then what?

  8. thanks everyone!  my boys are only 9, so no they will not have phones for wifi... also I do plan to only leave them in kids club... they will not have free roam of the ship... this is their 5th cruise but we are traveling with another family whose kids are cruising for the  first time... we were trying to find a way for all of us to stay in touch but I remember trying walkie talkies once and it not working well.... just thought I would check here in case anything had improved... THANKS!!

  9. we just got back from a RCL cruise on the Navigator. Sadly it was salt water and you could DEFINITELY tell. One of my boys is sensitive to salt water. We didn't even think twice about it when we got to the pool. He went happily into the pool and came out crying :( Not a fun week for him not being able to swim. I just got off the phone with NCL and the agent told me that ALL of their pools are salt water. I think the Liberty on RCL has fresh water though. I'm researching in case we decide to cruise again later this year. We went on Disney 2 yrs ago and their pools are fresh water so I just wasn't prepared for the salt water pool last week. I knew that cruise ships used salt water in the past but after cruising on Disney I made the (wrong) conclusion that maybe all ships used fresh water now.

  10. Hi! This is my first time cruising with Royal Caribbean. I have "completed" the online check in 3 times now. Our online check-in still shows "In Progress". We are taking 2 kids with us. They keep showing up as "incomplete". I have gone into the cruise contract under my husband's name and accepted the terms on behalf of my kids, then it shows "complete", then I print a new setsail pass for all of us, then the next time I log in and look at the status it shows "In Progress" again :/

what am i missing? thanks!
