  1. Do make sure you get the correct notary signature, ie a solicitor. We are UK based and tried to sail from Southampton with a letter signed by a medical professional. It wasn't enough. The staff were extremely helpful but required further evidence from the child's parents before allowing us to board. This involved numerous phone calls, emails and signatures,  which was a stressful start to the cruise.

  2. I have bought the OBC pre cruise, and as mentioned here, it is treated like all OBC, ie use it or lose it. (Confirmed pre cruise by phoning MSC and during the cruise at Guest Services). However, you can get unspent OBC back with this little trick: Near the end of your cruise go to the casino, load your excess OBC into a slot machine and then cash out immediately. You can then your cash out slip to the cashier and you have your money back. (There may have been a 5% service charge, I cant remember)

  3. I have added some ship board credit myself, for an upcoming cruise. Phoned MSC to check what happened to any surplus at the end of the cruise and was surprised to find out its a use it or lose it. As it is my money, I would have expected a refund. Anybody experienced this?

  4. We were first timers this summer :-)

1 - look around, etc etc. Its a good day to do the flowriders if that is on your list. Pre sign any waivers and pack some pool gear in your hand luggage.

3 - we took a few small dollars for on board tips, once off the ship and in port, its Euros all the way.

4 - we wondered the same, but it is nothing like the motion on a ferry. With so many port days, you are hardly moving anyway. On the sea day, the travel pills worked just fine for the one in our party who was concerned, but they were just a precaution. On a night any slight motion rocks you to sleep. I can honestly say, it was one of the best weeks sleep I have ever had.

5 - you cant do everything, so dont expect to. Try and plan a few things you really want to do, and let everything else just happen. :-)
