  1. We will also be there on 17th May. San Remo is a tender port and according to .https://www.whatsinport.com/Sanremo.htm tenders take you to the centre of town.

We stopped there two years ago on a cruise for Monaco, didn't see much of town because of trip to Monaco, but what we did see it looked nice, as I was not impressed by Monaco I wish I just spent the day in San Remo.

  2. I have had one changing to 10 minutes earlier for our May cruise, even though there is still no flight number just TBA. Could change again I suppose when they get round to finding us a plane!!

We have booked a week in Spain next year, flight leaves BHX @ 16:45 TOM7552, last night checked online on my booking and flight has changed to leaving @ 08:15 with flight number TBA0000 ???, but best of all we have received no e-mail about this, emailed @thomsoncares about this and received reply this morning saying they are sorry for flight time change and we will receive e-mail later in year confirming time and whether it will be a Thomson flight or not, plus side get there earlier down side have to book dog in kennels for extra day.

  3. Just booked Fjord cruise on Magellan for next September similar route to Thomson, but BOGOF and paying for drinks package still came in over £100 cheaper than Thomson so decided to take the plunge, cabins look nicer and so do public areas so hopefully all should be good, just hope we are not run over by Madge and her electric scooter, as I hear there are a lot of old ones aboard lol: :D:D:D

  4. The weather is usually a bit cooler at that time of year, but it can vary substantially. Consider layers, so that you have options for everything from 10-20°+. Also some of the ports are known for being breezy, and light rain is fairly common. A windproof, waterproof outer shell is highly recommended.

A coffee from a convenience store is around 25 NOK. An espresso drink from a coffee shop is more like 40 NOK.

A local draft beer is typically 60-80 NOK these days. A microbrew would be 75-100 NOK.

Lunch depends on what you have. A sandwich at a convenience store is around 60 NOK. A sushi meal or a Thai curry is ~150 NOK. A burger or simple dish at a low-to-mid-range restaurant would usually be 150-180 NOK. A main dish at a mid-range restaurant is generally 200-250 NOK.

If you're planning to explore some of Norway's hiking trails, it might be useful to bring along some hiking shoes, since the trails can be muddy. However, since you won't be doing multi-day treks, boots may be overkill. If you're not planning much hiking, sensible walking shoes would be fine.

Thanks for the quick and informative reply :):):)

  5. Hello everyone, we are looking at doing a cruise to the Fjords in September from the 11th to the 18th, taking in the following destinations :Flam, Eidfjord, Stavenger and Arendal, we were wondering what sort of weather we can expect for these places at this time of year, also what amount of currency would we need for having a coffee or a beer and a spot of lunch as I have heard the cost of living is quite high in Norway, also would just sensible walking shoes or hiking boots be required. Many thanks in advance for your advice.

  6. As you can see we have booked Continental Coasts next May on Discovery 2 :)

Two new ports for us. So any advice on Marseilles and San Remo?

Docked in San Remo last year where we did a trip to Monaco from there, travelled through on coach and looked really nice, some nice looking bars and restaurants ???, to be honest wished we had just gone round there as so disappointed in Monaco.

  7. At the airport in the queues there will be a Thomson Cruise representative who should give you your luggage tags with your cabin number on. These should be attached before checking the suitcases in. This happens for all cruises as it helps the crew deliver your bags to your cabin.

Should you be on a bonded flight - Dubrovnik & Bridgetown in my personal experience - then you do not need to pick up your luggage at the arrival airport as they will be delivered straight to the ship and to your cabin. If you are arriving at a non- bonded destination, you need to pick up you cases and take it to your transfer coach. On arrival at the port you usually need to take the luggage to a designated area - Thomson use colours- so if your tag is pink you drop the luggage in the pink area which will be signposted. Then the crew will load the luggage on and deliver later to your cabin.

    Hope this helps.

Travelled from Birmingham on 30/08/2016 for cruise on Majesty, there was no one giving out cabin numbers at airport, you did not get these until arrival at the port in Palma, and we had pre booked our cabins.

  8. Hello Fella, ;)

I am just home from being on the celebration to Dubrovnik, we had deck 1 inside, it was easily big enough with loads of storage also we did not hear or feel anything noisy, we have been upper before but found that inside midship to be best,, that is simply my opinion tho,,, oh and we met a lovely couple who stayed up top at horizons and they got woken every morning at about 5:30 - 6:00 as the ship was approaching dock etc they wished they hadn't bothered.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers  Wullie

Thanks for the info, how did you find the ship in general and the food only some recent reviews were not very good regarding food quality and choices, sounded a bit Thomson Gold choices to me i.e. bread and butter pudding for dessert ????

  9. Sorry Trigger 1972 only ever been on deck 6 & 7 but have spoken with passengers who have been on deck 1 they say it's noisy and the outside cabin are a bit scary in bad weather, they said it was like being in a washing machine and its at ground level when in dock. Not much help really as it's second hand info😟

Sent from my b1-720 using Forums mobile app

Ok thanks, probably pay extra for deck 4.

  10. Looking at doing Celebration cruise next year and was wondering what size the inside cabins are, Thomson website gives 2 different sizes, we have been on Dream and found the inside cabins great but on Majesty this year they were ok but a bit small, also would you recommend decks 1 and 2 or pay extra for decks 3 and 4, would be looking to choose our cabins midship.

    Your knowledge is eagerly anticipated.

  11. It is a few years since I went on a cruise and am considering going on discovery next year , I know it is a bad habit but can anyone tell me if smoking is allowed on balcony of cabin .I understand that you can't smoke in cabins and I agree with that but I love a cigarette with my cup of coffee first thing in morning.

Another thing we are taking our 9 year old granddaughter with us . Is she allowed in the show lounge and bars at night

No smoking on balconies and children are allowed in show lounge, however you would have to use your discretion when comedian is on.

  12. Hi there was wondering if anyone is just back from treasures of the med cruise with Thomson majesty, myself and family are going on 11th October and are very excited what were the excursions like etc is there anything you think we shouldn't miss.

    Thank you in advance

Hi we have just come back from this cruise, we only did one trip which was Rome on your own, it was £40 for the trip, you get picked up from ship by coach and dropped off in Rome outside the The Justice Palace, from there you can get various Ho Ho buses, we used Green line, tickets were sold to us on the coach to Rome by the guide, 18 Euros for adults I think it was 10 for kids. Even with bus there can still be quite a lot of walking as the Sites are quite far apart. Not sure if your going to Trapani or Palermo as our itinery changed from Trapani to Palermo and back Again. We did our own thing in all ports of call except Ajaccio when we stayed on ship as it was a Sunday and most shops were closed. When you go to Sorrento there is a beautiful decked bathing area with access to safe sea swimming, it was 12 Euros for a sun bed, but sadly this info isn't told to you on the ship so we didn't get chance to go. One other thing about Rome is be prepared to be pestered by ticket touts and people trying to sell you water.

  13. I didn't get the bus into Huevla, I used it as a ship day - one thing I did notice is that there was quite a queue for the bus, as the morning progressed... So you might want to get there early (or be prepared for a wait). There is also no port building, just a marquee type affair. There were some taxi's lurking

Hi Horwich, how did the 2nd week of your majesty cruise go, was it Treasures of the med, if so what was it like as we are going on Tuesday, also did many people make the effort on formal night.

  14. I was on dream last year and had an eye infection, went to ships medical centre and saw the doctor, he was Russian I think but don't quote me on that.

Basically he looked at my eye checked my vital signs took my blood pressure and gave me eye drops and eye ointment, all medication was in Greek with no English translation, and charged me £77 for the 10 mins I was there !

  15. Will a kilt look out of place at a formal night (with waistcoat, jacket and tie if course !). We have 60kg luggage between 3 of us so plenty room for it weight wise but will I be "over dressed" on the Dream ?

We were on the Dream last August and I would say 75% were in formal attire and quite a few in kilts.
