  1. I have loved reading about this cruise because I'm thinking of possibly trying the Encore TA. When I did a mock booking to look for Airfare I nearly fell off my chair. What I have found so far for one-way to London is just as much as the cruise itself.

I know you left from NY but we would be leaving from Boston. What is the best priced airline to use?

I did a mock booking also and had the same reaction. For some reason, booking air tickets 18 months out is ridiculously expensive. I then tried using this November to see if booking 6 months out was a better reference and the prices were much better starting under $300.

Thank you Doug and Sue for another great live review.

  2. I have a question.. since I've never cruised before.. When we get to a port.. what if I wanted to buy local rum to bring home? Does it have to be bought at a duty free shop or can I just turn it into the ship until we get home? I really don't know how that works

I've bought rum before and you just turn it over to the ship when you board and they will return it to you on the last night of sailing.

  3. It does really depend on the individuals that week. Our first cruise someone also brought a bluetooth speaker and it was only loud enough to hear at the bar and everyone enjoyed having it there. The group was pretty chill and it was never a loud party place. Rommel loved our group and explained to us that the week before it was like a college spring break party and they loud, drunk and rude. We were just a bunch of people having fun talking and hanging out.

Our second cruise we had someone who complained that 3 people talking at the bar were making to much noise and he couldn't sleep in his lounge chair that was near the bar. He asked Rommel to tell them to keep quite. Rommel told him that they were not loud, drunk or obnoxious and to tell them himself to which he didn't and let it go. This guy didn't have to be by the bar. There were always 30-40 open loungers and he could have been anywhere and chose to be by the bar. He wanted his own quite sanctuary and was always giving people ugly looks and wanted nothing to do with everyone else. By mid week he move down towards the haven wall and someone brought out a bluetooth speaker and the rest of us had fun.

  4. Bermuda can dock the larger ships at the Dockyard, but I'm not quite sure about Boston Harbor. Mid-sized may be all that Boston can handle for now.

Would you consider RCCL Anthem Of The Seas a mid-sized ship? Royal has several cruises for Anthem to Canada/New England docking at Black Falcon this year.

  5. I agree. It would be nice to have some more (newer) options closer to home.

I don't see why both Boston and Bermuda can't handle larger ships. The NCL Breakaway sails to Bermuda from NY and RCCL Anthem Of The Seas sails to Boston from NY.

No reason why either of those ships or equivalent ships can't sail from Boston.

  6. Vibe passes must be bought at the Guest Services desk on deck 6. I would shoot for the 9:30 drop off. Once you are on board go straight to the desk. There are only 5 cabanas available.

We sailed in September and were at the pier around 10:30 and had group 4 boarding passes and got them with no problem. There are a lot of people on CC that say they have had trouble getting them and then there are the few who get on late and can still get passes.

For my next cruise in September I plan on being at the pier at 9:30 to try to get an early boarding number to get them on the Escape.

  7. The Vibe passes were $79 per person for the week or $299 for a cabana w/$100 food credit for 2 people for the week.

I would not recommend the cabana personally. If the sun is on that side of the ship there is no shade in them. There are plenty of lounges with umbrella's.

It is a private area where I think only 50 people get access to and no one under 18. There is a bar and 2 hot tubs. I never saw more than 20-25 people in there at one time when I was on in September. On most days the hot tubs were empty.

Our bartender Rommel said the group 2 weeks before us was crazy. The place was full and people were partying it up. YMMV.

    We loved it!

Burn the floor is a must see.

Legally Blonde was good not great.

We went to the late comedy show one night and it was awful.
