Just in case anyone is interested in Daily Patters and Menu / Prices for Crown Princess Vancouver Roundtrip (Alaska Cruises).

We are going on Crown Princess Alaska in May. We have looked at the 5 for the price of 4 beer packages. So essentially the cost is about $22-26USD for 5 beers delivered to your cabin. They say you basically get one for free. Has anyone recently noticed the beer prices? That price suggests that a bottle of Heineken is around $6.50 ? Is that about right or is this pre purchase thing a scam?

Some shore days the ship arrives very early and leaves late. It seems one should be able to fit in two shorter excursions into one day. What's the general consensus. For example Ketchikan we were looking at doing a plane fligh-over. That only takes 2-3 hours do we have time for another tour? I'm not sure how the timing works. Do the excursions generally always depart shortly after the ship arrives or do some leave later in the afternoon. How do we find out the times. We are going with Princess cruises - 7 night Alaska. We cruises plenty before but always done full day tours so it's never something we considered.

So would most people here then recommend a cruise that leaves even a week later? If May 5 the 10 day NCL cruise is too early what's the earliest we should do? 10th 15th 25th? We prefer to go in May due to time off. Weather also seems to be getting warmer earlier in recent years - is that about right? I mean that's no prediction for the future but is there a pattern? Just been to Yosemite in April and the snow was gone and tioga pass open 2 months earlier

We also want to see Wales and I know they could be sparse around this time.

I know there has been so discussion of May vs September etc but I was specially curious about early May. We are looking at going with NCL on May 5th for 10 days. The itinerary is ideal for us because it stops at so many places compared to the 3-4 ports for the other 7 day cruises with Princess, Carnival etc.
What's it like in early May? - mid to late May I am confident would be better weather etc, and now i'm reading that early May they could cancel shore excursions and weather could be much worse then if we took a cruise two weeks later. Any feedback of being one of the first ships out for the season?

P&O allows you to pre pay onboard credit. If I register / link my credit card but have pre loaded credit as well will I still get charged a pre authorisation everyday or will they draw down my credit first before they start holding my funds?
