First question,  with all the port changes,  are you 100% sure you are docking in the city center of Amsterdam?

I found a port schedule, but it says Amsterdam.  I'm not sure.

Secondly, you would need to check into the appointment system for security/Immigration checks at AMS.

Ahhh, that will be an obstacle.  Did not know about this requirement.

Thirdly, is your flight direct to the US? If yes, you have an additional security/passport check before you board the plane. If not direct to the US, you have a lot better chance of catching the flight.

    Direct flight

Fourth, you would absolutely need private transportation, or grab a cab.

Lastly,  you do remember all the issues AMS had in Summer 2022? It's better, but not completely fixed. See point 2 above.

I was not aware of the issues.  I will research.

That being said, I wouldn't book a 10:55 flight direct to the US.

Working on changing my flight.  Can leave the following day, but still looking at options.

Thank you so much for your detailed response!

Its Newark Airport and its quite close to Cape Liberty-- no need to spend $100. An UberX should be about $35 dollars give or take. A large UberXL will be more like $40-45. Lyft is about the same as an alternative.

Do not take the local taxis in New Jersey-- they are awful in quality and overpriced.

    Thank you so much!!!

the cruise was by NCL in November of 2021.  it was a 10 night cruise from Greece and was supposed to have two nights in Israel and a night in turkey.

10 days or so before departure i was emailed saying that they had cancelled Israel and added a port in turkey to compensate. when i check in at the port, i am informed that Turkey was scratched too.

to make matters worse, everything about the cruise was awful once we got onboard.

What ports did they substitute for Turkey/Israel?  Was looking at traveling to those ports, but am concerned that they'll be changed.

  4. Perhaps we'll see the testing requirement lifted?

    https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/cruise-travel-during-covid19.html#faq

"As of July 18, 2022, CDC’s COVID-19 Program for Cruise Ships is no longer in effect. CDC will continue to publish guidance to help cruise ships continue to provide a safer and healthier environment for passengers, crew and communities going forward. "

I ordered four of the Binax Home Test kits. I know that before we take the test we scan the QR code on the front of each box that we will be using.  My question is how do they identify each of us? Do we fill out a form or does the person who is monitoring the test identify us by passport or drivers license or what ? thanks

You will need to show your driver's license or passport.

  6. We are leaving on an Alaskan cruise on July 30 from Vancouver.  We are arriving in Vancouver on the 27th.  Do I understand this correctly?

-have to use Arrivecan, but do not need a test to enter country

-we are vaccinated and boosted-can use an antigen test up to 3 days before sailing.  We will test on the 27th

-land tour ends in Fairbanks, Alaska on August 9th how is this handled?  Does Princess test us before the Alaskan land portion?

I read through a lot of pages on this site and Princess' site.  Thank you in advance.

We are already going to Nassau and amber cove.

We’re going on MG for the ship so it doesn’t matter to me I guess.

We are on MG next week and have the same itinerary.   The Bahamas announced a covid testing requirement,  but it's unclear if it applies to cruise ships.  You have to have a negative test 2 days before you visit.

If we can't go to Nassau/Bahamas and Grand Turks can't accommodate us, we only have one port.  I can't figure what ports they could substitute.

  8. Carnival has a few ships under "yellow".  This is what it means.

    Yellow Ship Criteria

    • Ship is at or above CDC’s investigation threshold:
      • Restricted Voyages:
        • Cases reported in 0.10% or more of passengers (e.g., if 6500* passengers on board, CDC’s investigation threshold is met if there are 7 or more cases among passengers occurring during the previous 7 days), or
          • This percentage includes passenger cases occurring within 5 days of disembarkation that CDC was notified of by state or local health departments.
        • One or more cases reported in crew.
      • Simulated Voyages:
        • Cases reported in 1.5% or more of passengers, or
        • Cases reported in 1.0% or more of crew.
      • Ships with Crew Only (i.e., not yet submitted requests for simulated voyages or applications for restricted voyages, pending CDC approval, or sailing at a later date).
        • Cases reported in 1.0% or more of crew.

My husband got a great rate email and we sailed on Vista last month.  I haven't gotten these rates myself and I've sailed more than him.  Lowest I see is $100 and that's for 3-4 day sailings.

And he got the new one!  Trying to convince him to sail this soon.  Wish me luck.

  10. We will be in Cozumel in November and our Carnival excursion was cancelled yesterday.  We want to take a non-Carnival excursion to one of the beaches.  Are we allowed?

I know this may be a silly question, but wanted to make sure.  TIA!

    eta we are vaccinated
