  1. We have done 3- 14 night cruises, two with HAL and one with Celebrity. We travel with a group, last cruise it was a group of eight. One night per cruise we have an Ugly Shirt Contest, men and women wear the brightest gawd awful Island shirt they can find.....funny that we have never been turned away and often have been complimented. Usually the maitre d has been the judge. It is one night of laughs and fun. Really !! We have done it in the MDR........The shirts are ugly, bright, gawdy etc, but have passed the fashion police with never an evil word. :)

"one night of laughs and fun". might fit into Celebrity rules but mefinks some on here will view this with much disdain [emoji33]

  2. .......

I understand it's not for everyone but then again if we all liked the same thing life would be a little dull... [emoji4]

More pearls of wisdom from Mr_T [emoji41].

Could not agree more - some people prefer Bourbon to Scotch or Bloody Mary over Bloody Caesar ( [emoji32])

I have even met a cruisist who prefers Manyoo over arsenal [emoji33]. takes all types and even Mr_T would forgive the Manyoo supporter for such blatant bad taste [emoji33][emoji33][emoji33]

  3. It's hard to tell someone they'd enjoy it, without knowing personal preferences. I find it much easier to say, "We enjoyed that itinerary, albeit with some caveats." As always, results will vary.

My review, photos and videos are always available for reference in my signature.

Yes it is hard to say whether anyone will enjoy any cruise.

we have been on the same cruise on eclipse january 14 and 15 & booked 16 & 17 . We obviously dont enjoy it , simply endure it [emoji12].

This year our group of 3 met up with a couple from canadia again from 2014 . during the cruise we met 4 peoples from runcorn UK and a further couple from Canadia and we are all booked same cruise 2017.

Apparently one passenger complained to the Bar staff that we were causing a nuisance by laughing a lot and insulting the bar staff by returning our empty glasses when we went back for replacements [emoji33].

  4. A bit late to this thread, but I found the pretension of this opening hilarious.

For what it's worth (and it's not worth anything), I've got a Master's from Cambridge and a Master's from Oxford, so my opinion must presumably be as important as that of the OP and the OP's spouse together? ;-)

    Stuart

My friend is a referee at the Masters every year . Is my opinion important then [emoji33]

  5. the vast majority of cruisers out of US ports are AMERICANS( and Canadian) we as a general rule DO NOT use kettles and wouldn't know what to do with one if we had access to one and thus likely would burn the ship down.

this is also the time period where they pull them for inspection and replacement if necessary.

Most Canadians I have met are very smart and would easily work out how to use a kettle.

Not sure why 'Americans' was all capitalised but ' Canadians' wasn't ? perhaps to denote the Canadian superiority in World opinion ?

  6. I think "chic" is in the eye of the beholder. I don't know that there is an exact definition as it would apply to cruise wear. I think it is going to be just the same as "casual" or "formal" everyone will interpret their own way. If you and your husband are both happy with the way you like you should be fine. I am thinking dressy pants and a nice blouse or a short dress. Maybe a coverup for the dining room but everyone will have their own idea and I am fine with that. Enjoy your vacation your way

intrigued by the remark " if you and your husband are both happy with the way you like ....."

On behalf of the (undercover) secret association of husbands could the poster elaborate on any situation where the happiness of the husband is ever a factor in any judgement of happiness - please [emoji32]

  7. We don't mind going back to the same places many times, there's always something new to see and do and plenty of good friends to spend time with.

Our reason for booking Sky Suites is so I can have the sofa to escape to if the snoring gets unbearable.

earplugs must be a tad expensive where mabell lives [emoji41]

perhaps chic ones are not available ?

  8. I'm pretty sure it was only on the Equinox that the Gastrobar replaced Cellar Masters. As someone already said on Eclipse it's become part of the Passport Bar and Cellar Masters is still there.

    thank you [emoji8][emoji8][emoji8][emoji8][emoji8]

not at all sure equinox is the boat for me !

hope the boss lady doesnt fancy an equinox boat trip - else we will be going no doubt [emoji13].

  9. I am very disappointed,as well...have already booked another line for less days and an opportune senior, state discount that could not be ignored . ....hoping Ephesus will still be there next october....and our week in paris.....not going to give up planning....

good to hear . Hope you have a great time. if you do visit us in UK I apologise in advance for our weather [emoji41][emoji299]️[emoji299]️[emoji299]️[emoji299]️[emoji299]️[emoji299]️

  10. I get bored after a couple of sea days, so post breakfast we are off ship, walking around the port and whatever is close. It does not matter that we have been before, even many times I want off for a few hours.

we are the same. even sit in a cafe or bar and buy drinks. seems a tad illogical given my premium alco package but , particularly in Europe, one appreciates how good back street cafes and bars can be. [emoji41]

  11. I think it replaced Cellar Masters (not 100% sure of that. Guaranteed someone on CC will correct me if I am wrong:D). it serves mostly "craft beers" - though I use that term loosely, as most of the beers are from large breweies...but just a large selection of "premium" brands (i.e., not Bud Light). Some specialty cocktails and wines also on offer. Menu is "pub food". burger, steak pie, flatbreads...

Nooooooo. not your fault but CellarMasters gone on Eclipse ???!??!

I know it wasn't well used and just my opinion but i loved it. [emoji35][emoji35][emoji35][emoji35]

I will be wearing a black armband in January ,- Chic or not I do not care

  12. My wife and I are 36 year-old D.I.N.K.’s (Double Income No Kids). We both have Master’s degrees and are successful in our careers. DW and I were both fortunate to be raised by parents who instilled strong values in us.

    modesty ?

    Love it [emoji41][emoji41]

sure you are not Brits with that sense of humour amigo [emoji12]

  13.

If we're being geographically accurate we've tendered in the Adriatic, in Split and Dubrovnik, both in the old Yugoslavia.

    , as is Kotor.

interesting. been to dubrovnik but docked [emoji32]

is there a finite number of dock stations or is there financial implications.

puzzling why sometimes lifeboats are sometimes used (st thomas) v smelly tenders with rude staff (samtorini)

  14. Eclipse cruises out of UK provide them in cabin, but they are removed when she leaves for the TA home, so not provided in Caribbean.

I have read of people having been successful in asking their steward for a kettle and getting one though on request.

I too have heard about this. I find it incredible that in the Health & Safety orientated world us Brits have to endure that this is so.

Fail to see how they are not dangerous in UK/ european waters but are in the Caribbean?

The good news is that Clamato juice is not considered dangerous in either place.

  15. I think everyone is a little bit of each, but we are more on the port end. Cruising is a convenient way to see a lot and we usually combine the cruise with several days of a land trip. Like the ship as a floating hotel with restaurants, entertainment and fitness facilities.

We do enjoy the social aspect of cruising, meeting people on cc then later at happy hour and dinner.

Our recent upgrade to a sky suite was via a phone call from Celebrity about two weeks before the cruise.

Happy Hour ? dont spread that on here - some bods will have apoplectic fits [emoji33]

  16.

We've tendered in Mykonos, La Spezia, Santorini, Kotor, Villefranche, & Cannes just off the top of my head, I'm sure there've been others too, can't remember if we tendered it Cartagena or not...

I don't know if you only mean in med...but we were scheduled to tender in St. Thomas last year (apparently one ship didn't make it and we got there spot).

    others we have tendered at:

    Nice

    Cannes

    Inverness

    Gurnsey

Yes we tendered in st thomas once but last year we docked AND it took far longer to get to the town by docking ,plus cost if a taxi. when we tendered they used the lifeboats and we had a bit of banter with the driver who engaged with the passengers onboard quite a lot.

We have been to Mykonos 3 times & not tendered - must be lucky

Sorry for the geography lesson but guernsey, inverness and kotor are not Med Ports [emoji41]

We stopped at Cartagena Colombia on a panama trip - is there one in espana also ?

  17. Elite Member Benefits

However, we have been informed about this issue and from now on, we will make sure that we will always provide tender tickets at ports that are being used.

Hi, & thanks Celebrity! I really appreciate you're coming here & clearing this up! We're on the Silhouette on Dec. 13th, & part of the reason is so that we will be elite before our next Med cruise in May...mainly because of the priority tender tickets :)

Maybe I have been lucky but not had to endure much tendering in the Med save Santorini - are there many other Ports that tender ?
