  1. You can also take tri-rail to Miami Airport (last stop) and Super Shuttle to the port.

If there is more than one of you, it makes more sense to take an Uber or Lyft.

The Tri-Rail station is at the Miami Airport Car Rental Center. The 3-letter code for the car rental center is RCC. Head for the taxi/shuttle pickup area and use this code when you summon the Uber/Lyft . The driver will know exactly where you are.

On weekends, Tri-Rail has a $5 flat rate to ride all day.

  2. I like both lines, but HA has better thermal suite and library. HA ships are smaller. Most outside and balcony cabins have bathtubs.

    Food is comparable.

Princess public areas are grander. In-room movies are better on Princess

Princess room stewards do not make towel animals 😢😢😢

  3. I was in the same position. Between Ft. Lauderdale and Miami there are a lot of options. I booked the Caribbean Princess because I've never been to the ABCs, and I also enjoy sea days. The extra day is nice too.

The Regal is a nicer ship, but I've been on her twice in the past 2 years.

I considered a couple of Holland America ships for that week. The price was right, but the itineraries were not the best (only because they were to islands I have been to many times ). I love Holland America because of the smaller size, the big, inviting libraries and the thermal suite that is not tucked away in a cave.

I also considered some Celebrity trips. Slightly more expensive, but prices may drop in the coming weeks.

I hope the Caribbean Princess has the same in-room movies that the Regal has. I never go to movies at home, so it is a treat for me to catch up on movies.

Good luck! I'm sure you will have great time. There is no bad decision.

  4. I commute daily on I 95 between Delray Beach and Port Everglades. Depending on traffic, it takes between 35 minutes and an hour. PBI is another 20 minutes up I95, so I would allow 90 minutes, although it will probably take less than an hour. I like to arrive at airports early because I have a lot of anxiety when I travel

Stop stressing. Everything will be fine. I was terrified when I got the new job because I'm a nervous driver and I hate I95, but it's really not so bad. It slows down in certain areas, but it still moves.

I always use Google maps or Waze before I get in the car so I know what to expect.

The turnpike is fine, but getting on/off 595 is tricky, especially when there is traffic. You have to pay close attention and make sure you are in the correct lane.

  5. We were there last week. Took the shuttle into town for US$3 each. Had lunch at Nohoch Kay, which is towards the far end of the Boardwalk. We had a large plate of mixed ceviche (shrimp, octopus and fish) and a fairly large whole grilled fish (some kind of snapper). It was absolutely delicious.

Including two non-alcoholic drinks each, our bill was 504 pesos, or US $34. The restaurant exchange rate was 15 pesos/dollar. This is less than what my credit card would have given me, but not too bad. I tried to use my credit card several times, but all the merchants claimed that their machines were "down". US dollars are gladly accepted.

We took a cab back to the ship for US$2 per person, plus tip.

This is a nice port. Don't just stay on the ship. There are a lot of vendors, but they are pleasant and not too pushy. The fresh seafood here is worth the trip.

  6. A large group of us are cruising this weekend out of Port Everglades. We all live locally and are trying to figure out how to get everybody and their luggage to the port using as few vehicles as possible.

Is there any reason why I can't drop off luggage for other people? The people themselves might arrive an hour or two afterwards. The luggage will be properly tagged.

In the past I have always handed off my bags to the curbside porters, no questions asked, so I'm thinking this won't be a problem.

We will be on the Westerdam.
