  1. Thanks for all your comments! We have been moved to cabin d616(db),

It's not really being overlooked im that fussed about, more to do with the fact we'd have no shade, I don't mind the heat but don't like sitting in the sun! We love to sit on our balcony for couple of hours a day just chilling! this would not be possible for me in constant sun, we we're mislead by our t/a But it's not a major issue and there are certainly bigger things in life to worry about other than if our balconys got a roof on it or not!! Thanks again!!

  2. cabin assigned to us today on Ventura. We booked a saver fare DE superior deluxe balcony, been given a DB with overlooked balcony, ideally we would have preferred not to have over looked balcony and was told ny our t/a we wouldn't get one!

Not really a problem, she told us we had been upgraded! Not sure how, are they bigger cabins / balconies ?

  3. RCI has high tech robot cocktail mixers which are fun to watch but sometimes don't work properly, P&O have low tech self serve beer pumps which are temperamental and also sometimes don't work and are no fun at all.:')

Rci bionic bar is quite amusing for about 2 mins, was on anthem of seas last year and barely saw anyone in it, biggest noveltie ever, complete waste of space.

  4. We done last august on brittania and didn't have good weather at all , apart from the odd sunny spell it was mainly overcast with drizzly showers now and then, but quite warm!!

despite the weather we had a fantastic cruise, the fjords are spectacular and we would do it again in a heartbeat, but we fancied a bit of guareteed sunshine this year (hopefully) so have opted for the canaries on Ventura.

  5. Me and my Wife Doing Ventura 23rd July (canaries) which is start of the school holidays! thinking of booking the retreat for the duration or just pey per day on board,

How busy does it get ? is it worth it compared to the usual pool areas, any tips or advice please!!

  6. The dress code does require a tie on formal nights in the MDR and certain other venues like the Crow's Nest or equivalent, so best have one at the ready if you want to go into these.

Thanks!! How about the specialty restaurants i.e. Sindu is a favourite of ours, ill pack an emergency tie anyway.

  7. We are on the 12 night cruise to the canaries on July 23rd. I understand there will be a couple of formal nights but will there be any other 'nights', black and white or whatever. Thanks in advance.

Me and my wife are on the same cruise! There are three formal nights I read, don't have a problem with a suit and shirt but never wear ties! So we'll have to see how that turns out:(

  8. Reminded me of a spectacular "thunder storm" the evening before docking at Alexandra (s) going on to the prom deck for a better view, saw 2 officers watching made the comment and they said its not a storm its Gunfire that is the coast of Libiya 3 days later they got Gaddaphi.

    Went back inside quick

My son in law is a contractor working on the cruise ships, he spent 3 weeks working on a ship in malta when it all went off in Libya, tells me the same story and how weird it was sitting there after work with beer in hand watching the sky light up in the distance and the constant bangs and rumbles of what for the first couple of days he thought were storms and then to be told it was Libya being bombed.

  9. We had always used the dock side valet parking until last year when we left it to late and they were fully booked, we used alternative cruise parking and found them to be superb, very high security with regular shuttles to and from the port which is approx 10/15 mins away and just over half the price of the valet parking, we have just booked again for 12 nights in July.

  10. when we done the mini cruise the ships duty free shop was only open for the first day as we sailed to Guernsey and was closed for the rest of the cruise, as we are now doing the canaries would the duty free open and close according to which port we're visiting or stay open for the duration of the cruise, thanks for your replays.

  11. Done a mini cruise last year and Guernsey was our first port of call, duty free was open for the first two days and fags and alcohol bargains were piled high until we left Guernsey and announcement came over the tannoy that duty free would now be closed for the rest of the cruise as we had gone from being a non eu cruise to a eu cruise we have just booked on Ventura to the canaries, Madeira, Portugal in July and was wondering how the duty free would work.

  12. We done a mini cruise and I think we have stayed in these cabins, are you talking about the few that jut out at the rear of the ship?

We had no problems with noise but did feel the vibration from the thrusters Quite often, the balconys are more shaded than others and there was an awful eggy type smell on balconys for the first couple of days of our cruise that was so bad we couldn't leave doors open as it stunk out the cabin,

we were told it was due to a fawlty extractor fan below us , not sure if this is an on going problem or not. Ironically we booked a cruise to the canaries today and was offered these cabins but we chose an alternative purely on the balcony shade issues.

Despite the above the cabins were very nice and this didn't spoil our cruise whatsoever.

  13. What reason do p&o give for swapping ports in the fjords, I don't imagine it's because sea state etc, we recently done a cruise including Guernsey and was told we could not stop at st peters port due to the sea conditions, spent 24hrs anchored up at sea although it seemed very calm I respected the captains decision, I've read a number of complaints about p&o recently swapping ports and wondering what excuse they could give for swapping ports in the fjords.

  14. Thanks for all your quick replies!!, quite fancy doing the flamm railway so will look at booking with p&o, the main thing is just getting away from London for some time to regain some sanity lol,

visited Switzerland many times and the fjords looks very similar, we've only cruised twice before on anthem of the seas and Ventura and loved them both, really looking forward to sailing on brittania and visiting the flords.

  15. Hi there, just booked on the brittania Flords cruise on the 27th of Aug, booked last minute as it was the only cruise that suited our dates, not knowing anything about the fjords the things that stand out are the flamm railway the boat trip and the troll car whatever that is lol. am I better off booking these independently or through p&o, any advice in general about the brittania or the Flords would be appreciated, thanks!!

  16. Me and my wife was on Ventura recently and were walking around the shops remarking that everything in the them was complete tat, we then we came across the gold chain on a rope!! that really was the icing on the cake, I then seemed to have a massive deja vu that I was walking around Wembley market in 1980s 😳

  17. As sad as it is I like to be in constant contact with my business, Done anthem last year on its t/a found there Internet to be superb, was on Ventura in May and found p&o pay as you go Internet to be a complete rip off , log on for 5 mins and it takes 15 off, on brittania in August and hoping its a one off reasonable fee for constant internet, that way I can receive and send e mails with the added advantage of making sure there are no unwanted Pokemon onboard.😘

  18. P&O wifi is a complete rip off compared to rci imo,

Rci you pay a flat fee for unlimited internet compared to pay by the minute with p&o , on a recent p&o cruise I payed for 120 mins logged on for 5 mins to check emails and it took 25 mins, this happened time and time again you need to be a rich man using periscope, I complained 3 times and each time they gave me 30 mins without batting an eye lid, that tells me everything.
