I’m to much of a nervous nelly to fly in the day of the cruise but the experience we had just flying to San Juan in June would make me definitely fly in a day early.
We were headed to San Juan non-stop from Boston, we had an 8:00am flight. Once we boarded the plane they announced that they had to reboot the computer systems (In my mind better done while on the ground than in the air). By the time that was done it was 8:45, we finally take off.
About an hour into the flight they announce we have a medical emergency on board, the flight crew kept us updated over the next hour and a half, but at this point we feel the plane turning. A few minutes later they tell us we are diverting to Bermuda to get the passenger and family to the hospital. We land in Bermuda, they get the passenger and family on their way to the hospital, now we are going to refuel, then there is a paperwork issue, total time on the ground in Bermuda better than 2 hours ( keep in mind I am not complaining the JetBlue folks did a great job, including crew members who just happened to be traveling on this flight, the team work was awesome to see).
Long story short we did not arrive in San Juan until almost 4:00pm and then because we “stopped” in a foreign country we had to go through customs, even though we were not allowed off the plane!
Moral of the story is you just never know what can happen, we expected to be in San Juan at 11:45am but didn’t arrive until 4:00

We are sailing this Thursday on the Conquest! This is our first Carnival cruise so I'm very glad to hear you enjoyed the Conquest! We usually cruise NCL, but friends asked us to join them on the Conquest!
-
Oh my gosh we were on that same NCL Dream cruise! We had cruised previously but we brought along a friend who had never cruised before....he has not cruised since! It was a wild ride!

So excited to see this! We sailed on the breakaway last November and thoroughly enjoyed Les Getrex.
We will be back on the Breakaway this November, so happy to see that Les and his band will be at at Fat Cats!
-
we actually watched the Pats at the Frog and Onion in the Dockyards. So if it's a Sunday game you can check there too!
-
Is there anyway to find out who the performers might be in Fat Cats for a particular sailing?
We are sailing the Breakaway again in November and hoped that Les Getrex might be there again!

I don't believe there is currently any NCL sponsored option, and I have to say we used the Academy bus last year, while the trip to NY was fine, the trip home was not as good. The bus did not arrive until almost 2:00pm to pick us up due to mechanical issues and driver confusion in the city. We didn't arrive back in Worcester until almost 8:00pm.
For the cost of the bus tickets for 2 people ($200.00) and parking in Worcester for the week ($120.00) I am going to drive this year and park at the pier, the cost difference will be negligible.
Not sure when you are cruising, we are sailing in November and I'm happy to let you know how driving to the port and parking at the pier works out when we return.
Take Care!

I have not been to the beach in Nassau, but I believe you may be referring to the Pink Sand beaches of Bermuda.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review! We are sailing the Dawn again in August so I'm reading all I can about recent trips.
It may be my iPad but I cannot see any of your photos, they all say "photo not found"

NCL stopped the bus transfers early in 2016....
Holy crap..... so your bus ride home went NYC to Braintree to Worcester???? and probably several stops along the way!? Did you get home at midnight?
Oh no not that bad-the bus broke down leaving Braintree early that morning which made them late, then the bus driver got lost getting to the pier.
The bus picked us up after 2:00 and it seemed like we took a scenic ride through the city before getting on the highway, we got back to Worcester after 7:30 that evening.

Hi all,
Last year in November we took the cruise line sponsored bus from Worcester, while the trip to the pier was fine, we arrived about 12:30, the trip home was another story.
The bus that picks you up is the same one that drops passengers off, probably the earliest you can expect to see it is 12:30 or so.. We were not picked up until after 2:00pm, the original bus broke down shortly after leaving Braintree on its way to NY, then the bus driver got lost in the city. Needless to say the passengers arriving were not at all happy either, for the cost of parking in Worcester and two bus tickets I could have spent the same amount to park at the pier.
This year are plan is to drive and park at the pier, almost the same cost and far less hassle.
That's just my 2 cents!

Thank you! We just booked the August 12th sailing and are very curious about the changes.
Have a wonderful time, Bermuda is one of my favorite places!

Oh our 11/1/15 cruise it was Virginia, we thought she was terrific!

We were forward on the 15th deck and there was very little movement!

We used this bus service last week, returning from NY yesterday. Although the trip to the pier was fine our return trip was not as good. We disembarked at 9:30 as we were told we had to do. The bus is supposed to arrive by 1:00 pm (the same bus that is bringing passengers to the pier is the one that will take you home) our bus did not arrive by 1:00pm one of the folks waiting with us called Academy and was told that the times were approximate, our bus did not arrive until approximately 1:45pm we did not leave the pier until 2:00pm. Apparently the first bus broke down, then the driver got lost in NY city. The cost for us was $110.00 per person plus I paid $113.00 in Worcester for parking.
This was just our experience, I think for me personally I will drive and park at the pier for our next cruise.

To make you feel better, we have parked there 7 or 8 times and never had any problems! It really is the easiest way to get there.
Have a great cruise!

Hi All,
We also sailed the Dream this week. I have to say while it was not the best cruise we have ever been on, we did make the best of it. We met some wonderful staff, folks who truely went above & beyond to try and make our cruise memorable. We also brought a first time cruiser with us and while I'm not sure he will ever cruise again it has nothing to do with NCL.
No one has any control over the weather and it is very easy to say after the fact that perhaps things should have been done differently but all in all we think the crew did an outstanding job given the circumstances.
Also Bermuda was beautiful as always and we had the most terrific sea day on Saturday - we expected it to be cold as we were heading back to Boston but instead it was sunny and maybe 70 degrees.
I've attached a picture of the seas on Monday morning......it's amazing the power of mother nature. This was taken from Deck 7 looking out the window.
Looks like Serenade is being diverted, question . . .

While I understand we have no control of the weather it would be nice if RC could confirm our route just so I know what type of clothes to pack! 😁 Right now I have a little bit of everything in my suitcase.
In in all honesty we will have a great time wherever we go!!
