You absolutely do not need to do a tour through the ship. It is super easy to book on your own. Are you wanting to go buy a boat because there are a lot of places you can do it from land.

No not at all...just really looking for a plan and place to go as we get off the ship. For some reason in cozumel and costa maya if we don't do a beach club i feel lost on what to do lol

  2. Just got off the valor and the burgers to me get a little downgraded every trip. As others have said, first the fries and now the cheap bun. I like the Ringer and its still good but not like it was originally.

I agree AI is rarely of value to us, especially as we used to like to walk the length of the malecon and bar hop along the way but even if we stay in one place for a few hours and back to the ship we don’t need to eat much when there is so much food on the ship. we are more likely to do AI if we are staying in a condo on a land visit.

We have only made inquiries once a couple of years ago about booking in advance and was told it was package only unless “they had room on the day” at Blue Reef which is why we have never been. We became regulars at Malecon21 which purportedly had better bathrooms. How are the bathrooms at the new location and is the food cooked on site?

Interesting to hear the offshore nets extend that far I thought they would stop at Macho’s Bar.

I did not go to the bathrooms but they were across the street as a few in my party went over there. I dont think it was anything special but they did have access.

I guess when I say nets, right before the channel there was these wooden stakes with nets on them just like at Jamie's running down the beach a few hundred yards out that I assume is for the seaweed.

a little surprised it would be full that early - but I think all the previous cruise cars need to vacate before noon (might be earlier), so I try to get there before noon.

Me too it didnt even cross my mind honestly. We had some bad traffic around Baton Rouge that put us behind about an hour but I really didnt think much about it.

    Glad it worked out.

I wasn’t aware you could book a la carte in advance. I thought that was only a space available on the day choice. Is this something new with this location? It is certainly something that is needed in Mahahual like it used to be.

So was it protected by the baffles from sargassum?

Well not sure about booking in advance, but my understanding as others have posted on here you can choose AI or ala carte at blue reef. I was not aware of that either as last time we paid the AI price but no way it was a good deal for my party.  My group isnt big drinkers and eating so much on the boat there is only so much you can eat out so it just doesn't make much sense for us. The place wasn't full so maybe that is why it worked out I don't know. There was maybe 3-4 family's there including us with still plenty of room. I assume the others were cruise passengers. I think there was two other boats in port that I could see.

The beach was spread out and yeah it has the nets like blue reef does keeping some seaweed out. Some still makes it through but it was fine. The beach next door had seaweed on it and you could definitely smell it.

  6. We just got back from Lunas this past Monday. We had some mixups but Jamie made it right.

1)They didnt have our reservation when we got there

2)Although I asked about the ala carte package they automatically charged me the all inclusive price. I saw there was two menus and asked when we got there but was told the little menu was the only one to use.

3)At check out, because we didn't stay but a few hours and didn't order much food or drink, we opted for the ala carte which totally confused on our waitress. She had to call Jamie after a few minutes of disagreement and then had to go through her pad to reprice everything. We got it figured out but it just made things uncomfortable for my party of 8. At that point I let the $2 per per cab refund go.

4)Later that night Jamie emailed me and refunded me some money back for all the issues. They are obviously still working out the kinks but in the end I knew Jamie would make it right so all good.

As for the setup, it was fine. Very similar to Blue Reef except I only saw one vendor while we there for just a second. Beach was good, there was paths through the sea grass to get areas to sit or hangout. Snorkeling around a bid we found a really cool crab and some good shells. It was a relaxing place and personally being on the end vs in the middle at blue reef was a plus for me.

  7. Well got a surprise on Saturday when we rolled up and the port garage was full. If it had just been my family going I would have done the Fulton garage but was going with the sis in laws family as well so thought it would be easy to park onsite. Well to our surprise it was full and we got pushed into overflow lot H which was across the way a bit from the port. I  wasnt real happy with that but in the time crunch and crazyness we went with it. Car was still there when we got back today so it worked out but I had not seen that happen to anyone else so fyi.

I always did fulton rooftop myself. But if you want to be inside, it may not be as big of a price difference.

  11. I usually cruise out of Galveston but heading to NO this weekend for a 5 day cruise.

I am leaning towards just using the port parking even though its more expensive but not too much.  $25 flat rate at day vs $19 a day at Fulton

It seems like for a newbie maybe the convenience is worth the extra not having to mess with a shuttle.

Agree with Blerk0ne. This is for local overnight parking. Use airport reservations.com to park at Fulton for cruises.

Ok cool, I just used the link from st gregs links and it was the neworleansparking.com site so I didnt know there was another way to book it.

  13. Why does this say fulton is not for cruise passengers? And with no shuttle?

The remaining balance stays on the gift card. You could then take the card onboard with you and apply the remaining balance to your Sign & Sail account at Guest Services or at one of the kiosks.

Well I just tried to do that. I had a $96 balance and tried to use a $100 gift card but it was rejected. I will use it for wifi or something but it wouldnt take it for me and I just ran $4500 worth of gift cards through.

How do you use these gift cards to book a cruise? I’m online and I’d like to use a gift card, but the only options to make it down payment say credit card, or PayPal.

    thanks

    Ron

There is an option to add gift cards at the top and then at the bottom you put in the total as other amount to process online.

    Hi cruisers,

I just booked a last minute cruise, and I’m kicking myself for not doing more research, but apparently we will be on Cozumel with 7 other ships and Mr Sanchos is sold out of course. 😩. The kids were looking forward to it so much. The kids (four 20 year olds) wanted to go so bad. And so did us parents.

So please help me with recommendations on other Mr Sanchos-like places I can try. 🙏🏻🙏🏻   Or something else that would be super fun.

    Thank you!

I dont know anything about this one but looks similar?

We took a 5 day cruise out of New Orleans on the Carnival Valor in December. We had a great time and hope you enjoy our video reviews. If you have any questions or comments feel free to share.

Here is Day 1 and the rest of the days should we coming in the next week or two.

Looking forward to your review, we are doing this cruise for spring break with some extended family.

Curious why if you are from Houston you guys choose to sail out of other ports? We are also from the Houston Area and choose New Orleans for this next cruise simply because it was much cheaper than Galveston.  Not crazy about the 5 hour drive but it was worth it this time.
