  1. We did this tour when we were on a cruise back in 2018 and really enjoyed it. I saved the site. But I think the site I saved is old because when I went to fill out the information to make a reservation request, the automated fill in dates stop at 2020.

I tried to look it up in Cruise Critic but couldn't find anything. I also checked Trip Advisor, but the last T.A. review was back in 2017.

So it looks like there isn't a tour any longer and I'm out of luck, but I'm posting this question "just in case".

Our cruise doesn't leave until September, but I like to plan ahead. (Yep. I'm "one of those").

I'll keep checking back for a couple of weeks to see if there's any reply, but then I'm giving up.

  2. aring75,

I just found your report on your August Equinox cruise just a few days ago. It was very informative and your pictures were great!  So I've been savoring the report for the last few days. Thank you for taking the time to do this and kind of take us along with you on your cruise.

I realize this thank you may be a little late (so you might not see it) but I'm taking the chance because a late "thank you" is better than no "thank you".

    Thanks again,

    Kris

One other suggestion is all the Celebrity ships have at least one Euro plug. So I take a Euro-US plug so i can use that outlet also.

I was watching the updated cabin video on the Millennium and the guy said they added plugs next to the bed, but they are EURO plugs only.   So yeah, if you bring EURO adapter, you may not even need extension cord on some ships.

Great suggestions! And I think we have a Euro plug adapter. Thanks again.

We have had two CPAP ... near disasters.... One year we had driven down to Orlando to visit with a friend for a few days..when the CPAP failed. We had an old one at home... Got a neighbor..who had a key to the house...go inside find it and over night it to our friends house... in time for us. Thank heaven we had planned to stay a few days before driving to Miami.

The second time we had driven to just south of Orlando... we discovered that DH had forgotten the cord for his CPAP... So after googling on the road I located a pharmacy not far from the port where I could purchase one. Anyone who uses a CPAP daily..knows how hard it is to sleep without one.

Glad everything worked out so you only had "near disasters" instead of "disasters".

  5. THANKS AGAIN TO ALL OF YOU WHO REPLIED --- and so quickly! 😃 YAY!

I've been on tons of previous cruises, but they were on different cruise lines, and this was before I needed a CPAP. (Ahh, how a couple of years can change things....)

Well, it's been about a year & a half now since my last cruise  ...... and I've been having cruise withdrawal ..... but now, thanks to all your answers ..... I can again be

What about in accessible cabins? Is it the same? DH and I both use CPAPs.

I'd be willing to bet that the answers received to my question would be about the same for you, too. I'd remembered to request distilled water (through my TA), but forgot about the power that would be needed.  Thank goodness for still having a TA.

DH has cruised with a CPAP on all the S-class ships with no worries with the outlet being by the dresser. May I suggest that you book bed by bath and that non-CPAP user takes the side by the closet? Otherwise there is a greater chance of tripping over the extension cord to go potty in the middle of the night if the bed is by the veranda and the extension cord crosses the path to the bath.

No issue, you will get an extension cord provided. I just unplug it during the day.

Nice to hear from someone else who has the "CPAP challenge". And I've been so relieved to hear that they have extension cords that can be used. I got worried when I was looking at Celebrity's website and it said "no extension cords" and I only saw a couple of outlets at the desk.

    THANKS AGAIN!!!!

    Ready to cruise,

If you fill in a Special Needs form, pre cruise, appropriate extensions will be provided.

The outlets are at the desk.

your steward can provide an extension cord and distilled water.

special needs will handle this and you will probably find them in your stateroom waiting for you on your arrival.  If not, just remind your stateroom attendant when you meet him.

Don't cancel because of this...there are many many passengers who bring CPAPs. As noted the cruise line will provide an extension cord and distilled water... you can either fill out the form or the agent at Celebrity can add the request to your paperwork. They don't have many outlets..but we have been able to work around this. the extension cord can be a tripping hazard... so you might ask the steward to tape it down. One of our stewards did this..without our asking...which was helpful.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!! Your answers have relieved my mind. I'm ready to cruise!

    Now I'm happy,

    Kris

  9. HELP!!! I've watched tons of Utube "reviews", "tours" etc. of the Equinox, and there have been several "cabin tours" I've watched, but none have addressed my question. And I've searched Celebrity's website. And I checked several pages of Cruise Critic, but none seem to address my question.

I was able to see that there are a couple of outlets by the mirror ....... BUT are there any by the NIGHTSTANDS???!!!

I'm on a CPAP machine at night which needs to be right by the bed. The cord isn't long enough to stretch all the way to the outlets by the little desk/mirror.

My final payment is due at the end of July and I don't want to cancel this cruise because I'm required to be on this lousy machine.

    Thanks.

    "hope to be cruising soon",

I have one type of Keen, but haven't tried it yet so I need to dig those out.  Where would I find Activa?  I did a search and came up empty on that one.  Looking at the Camel Crown, they don't have hardly any arch support and no heel cup.  I have an average arch that just needs support.  If I didn't have PF, those would probably be comfy.  My Skecher's used to be comfy - before PF!

Sorry for the delay in responding. I haven't been on CC for a while now. My DH got his Activa sandals on Amazon. But it was a long time ago. I just checked and couldn't find them! AUGH!  Sorry.

I've been battling plantar fasciitis for a little more than 6 months.  I bought arch supports for some shoes, but that only works in very few and no sandals.  I wear sandals 8-9 months out of the year.  I found a pair of flip flops with fantastic arch support and heel cup.  But there are times that I need a more secure sandal than a flip flop.  I thought I had it under control, and went back to my old sandals, and I was wrong!  I need a sandal (or two) that can handle walking/hiking a few miles at least.  And when it gets cold, I would like to find a couple pair of shoes that will help.

I need definite arch support and heel cupping .  Suggestions?

My DH has a very high arch and plantar fasciitis. Right now we're retired in a fairly warm area, so he wears sandals about 90% of the time (like me). He has 3 pairs that he really likes:

KEEN, they're for when he wants a sandal type shoe that has a closed toe....

ACTIVA (ortho heel technology) are his favorite pair. He can wear them for a long time. Only downside is they have leather straps.

Both of those he rotates for walking or hiking.  Both were fairly costly, though.

He also got a pair of Camel Crown sandals. While they are not quite as supportive for him as the other 2 brands, he does wear them quite a bit when we're going someplace like a pool or the beach because they can get wet & it doesn't affect them. I now have 2 pair of Camel Crown sandals 'cause I liked his, so got a pair, and wanted another in a different color. I don't have high arches or plantar fasciitis, but they are so comfortable to me, that I use them as my walking sandals now.

    Hope this helps.

PS  He also got some arch supports---specially custom made by a foot doctor. What a joke. They were so stiff and hard that they actually caused more pain that not having anything. Then he got some regular inserts & they were fine, but didn't work with sandals, so he hasn't worn those in a long time.

I was wondering if anyone can offer advice as to viable transportation options for 4.  We are trying to reach the Pacific Inn at Seal Beach, from San Pedro port, for a post cruise adventure. I was told that we should take a uber.  But I am concerned the craziness on embarkation day will make a uber very difficult to find.  MY Husband will take a NCL shuttle to  Long Beach airport for a 1100am pick up of a minivan.  I was hoping to the hotel while he picked up the van.  I was trying to avoid paying a shuttle to take us all to Long Beach airport.  But I wonder if that will be cheapest in the end.  Are the car rentals easily accessible? I wonder if a 1100am pick up is enough time to disembark and pick up a car.  I wonder if I should change it to 1130am

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    A little background----

We are  disembarking from the Bliss Oct 6th.

We have sailed into and out of San Pedro several times before.  This will be our first time viewing Long Beach airport and  our first time enjoying the Pacific Inn at Seal Beach.

This information might be a little late, but I recommend calling the Pacific Inn. I stayed there before a 15 day cruise to Hawaii in the fall of 2017, and their shuttle took my group to our Carnival cruise ship and back (and they let our vehicle stay parked there for the full cruise) It looks like they still have a shuttle. It might not go to San Pedro, and just to the Carnival ships at Long Beach, but it doesn't hurt to call and ask them. And it was a nice little boutique hotel like they advertise.

Nope, not scrolling through 167 pages, but in the beginning of this thread, it said that pop and water could be taken aboard along with a bottle of wine per person, with no corkage fee.  A friend is a HAL cruiser (this will be our first HAL but are diamond on Celebrity/RRCC), and she told me you could not take pop or water on when you embarked, but confirmed the 2 bottles of wine with no corkage fee, even if taken to dinner.   Appreciate an accurate update.  Thanks in advance.

I think your friend may be confused.  One bottle of wine per person to have in your cabin; as much water and/or soda as you can carry onboard (not in checked luggage -- carried on).

     Absolutely agree 100% 🙂

Other lines are not as liberal as HAL so your friend may just have mixed them up 😉

ArtsyCraftsy is totally correct.  I’ll just add that you can bring water or soda on board in ports as well.  (You can bring on wine but you will have to pay the corkage fee of $18 or have it stored).

The ‘free’ bottle allocation is definitely for in your cabin only.  You can take the bottle to public places (ie. the MDR) but it will then be subject to the corkage fee.

VERY happy to read this since this is only our 2nd Holland America cruise. We have been cruising Carnival a lot lately & soda in bottles or water in bottles isn't allowed to be brought onboard. So we've suffered with cans of soda & ordered their bottled water package. We took our first HAL cruise a few months ago, and in doing my research I thought I read that bottled soda was allowed, but the cruise was in the Med & the only soda available to buy before the cruise was in cans.

So, again, it was VERY NICE to read this! 😁

  14. I LOVED the Grand Dutch Café on deck 3. There was a charge (fairly reasonable amount) for drinks,  like specialty coffees and teas, but the sandwiches and pastries (which were free) were to die for. On two days I was able to get shrimp salad sandwiches, which I haven't seen on any ship for years. Their hours were great, too. We'd often get back on ship after a tour, just a little too late for the buffet and the MDR, but the Grand Dutch Café was open. And the cute young men (Dutch?) who worked there were very friendly and helpful.

I also loved the buffet. Usually I like to eat at the MDR because I like getting served. But the buffet had great choices, was broken up into different sections so there was never a huge line, and staff served the items so there wasn't any of that "ick" factor in wondering if the person in front of you had clean hands, etc. So we only ate in the MDR once, which made my DH happy because he loves buffets.

Just add a post asking those interested in a Meet & Greet to reply quoting the post. The quoting makes it easier for you to see who is interested.

It is possible to setup a poll in  a forum, but I don't believe it is possible in a thread/topic. In a forum when one uses Create New Topic there is a Poll tab.

I was hoping there was something I was missing. I couldn't believe that when I went to ask my question (in Create New Topic) there was a tab for a poll, but nothing in the Roll Call thread. Thanks for your reply.

The truly breathtaking views you are thinking of are from Oia, I believe (like the one below). You cannot see them from the ship or from the tram. Thira is not as striking.

Thanks so much to both of you. This is EXACTLY what I needed to see. Love all 4 pictures!

  17. I went back to postings clear in July 2018 and didn't see this question:

In travel brochures, pictures of Santorini, etc. they seem to always show the white washed homes with the beautiful blue roofs clinging to the cliffs.

Can these be viewed from the cruise ship in the harbor? Or can they be viewed from the tram in Fira? Or does a person have to go to Oia to see them?

    Thanks.

While I don't use room service, I don't understand this mentality.  If somebody says they don't like a change they should never cruise again?  Who are you to say this?  Let people vent.  This is a discussion forum, and I don't remember a rule that says only positive posts about carnival are allowed.    I fully understand people that booked and fully paid with the expectation that room service was included.  I'm, carnival should give people back their deposit if this pisses them off enough.  When the terms change after you sign, then you should have some amount of time to get out of said contract.

    My thoughts also.

if someone has paid in full for something they are quite entitled to have a moan when they get told they are being dollared. (You can really call this nickel and diming since it’s considerably more.) lol It’s not something that affects me. In all my cruises, I’ve only ever ordered breakfast in the suite on 2 occasions. That said, if I was expected to pay $4 for each item on my full English breakfast plate, the pastries, toast, fruit and juice, then they could whistle for it. Why charge each item? Are they having to make individual journeys for each?  And a tip on top too? What exactly is the “service charge” for? That all goes to the crew doesn’t it? Oh wait......

Anyway, I’m pretty sure most of those throwing the insults to those complaining,  probably  would still say their cruise was fantastic if they were confined to the cabin with Noro. As long as they’d still got their Pom poms, it’ll be alright.

Thank you both. It felt like Drazil65 was personally attacking me because I wanted to vent. Both your answers made me feel a lot better. Sheesh. Sometimes we all just need to vent....or whine (and YES, I'd like cheese with my whine). 😉
