  1. I'm with you! The hand towel in the powder room and the kitchen towels get changed every day and bath towels and wash cloths are used once and then put in the laundry.

When I was a small child I asked my grandparents next door neighbor why they had so many towels and wash cloths out on the line. The neighbor, who was an MD, said because you need to use a clean towel every time you bathe and use multiple wash cloths when washing your body. I distinctly remember him saying you wouldn't want to get athletes feet on your face or rear end now would you and you wouldn't wash your face in the toilet, so you need to use at least 3 wash cloths for each shower. It really stuck with me. I told my Mom I would only use a towel once and she asked me if I thought we were made of money!

As soon as I had a place of my own and was paying the bills I went to the one towel, one use system. My DH was not raised that way, but he quickly came to appreciate the fresh towels. Honestly, the towels at his house always stunk, even when straight out of the laundry. I also only use only white towels, as per the MD neighbor, so that they can be bleached every wash.

The cabins on a ship are simply too humid to effectively dry the towels between use and it doesn't take much until you have a bunch of stinky towels. Look how fast the shower curtain starts to smell on a ship!

Agree. All my towels used for the day get washed at the end of the day!!!!!
