I've never minded tenders. I think all of the times we went to Disney world (at least twenty ) have helped us adapt to anything! Also, my husband almost didn't survive an illness last year, and I just feel blessed that we can go on vacation this year. It changes your perspective. To those of you that are disappointed, I understand it's not what you hoped for, and if you can't cancel and rebook something you do like , I hope you still approach it with an open mind and make it a positive experience.

I like your positive attitude & will try to adopt it. It's just we get so few vacation days & try to plan the best trips & then it gets changed up. Need to remember that life isn't fair I guess.

Definitely going
Do you think they'll cancel the whole thing if they don't get enough people? I'm concerned about 2 full days at sea. I see Viking as a destination cruise line. Very little to do on the ship. I think I'll be bored to death on the second day at sea.

Is everyone on this thread still going or did some of you cancel?

For any on the newly revised/renamed Cultural Cuba cruise in November or December that think we should stay past 4pm in Key West, please retweet my husband's message to @vikingriver. His twitter handle is @johntowler. The next day is at sea & we've already lost two other ports. Least they can do!

For those on the newly revised/renamed Cultural Cuba cruise in November or December, my husband just tweeted to @vikingriver that we should be staying past 4pm in Key West since the next day is at sea & we have lost 2 other destinations. We are taking a Viking Ocean cruise in November of 2017 that includes 2 days in Havana. As US citizens, do we need to obtain visas to enter Cuba via a cruise?

Do we need a Visa to go to Cuba if we live in the US?

Lily, my husband is now saying he emailed them about prepaying & they emailed him back instructions. Info@romeinlimo.com

Lily, we prepaid all but the tips. Call them directly. Ask for Jany. She will instruct you.

DA, they recommended a guide at the Vatican & they were right. We let them recommend the guide & he was amazing. Massimo. No guide for anything else. The driver was very knowledgeable & told us all we needed to know. Stefan. If you do it alone (no other couples), I'm sure they'll accommodate anything you want. Once we added the guide, they added that fee. We prepaid all but the tips.

Becki-don't recall the Roman cemetery. I want to go back to Barcelona once La Sagrada Familia is completed. Have you ever done a Rick Steves tour thru his company?

I bought his Mediterranean cruise book. Went through & cut out the sections on all of our ports so I only had to carry small sections at a time. Great minds think alike! Also bought a small Spanish language book that was very helpful when ordering food & in cabs.

Becki, agree with all you said. I think I could live in Barcelona! We did la ramblas from start to finish reading a Rick Steves write up about each stop along the way. Yes the market is a must see. We did not get to the Picasso museum or get to the W hotel (must be an amazing view from the top). We also toured the old cathedral & even went on the roof. Wonderful views.

Venice. We did the trip to Murano (glass works) and Burano (pretty colored houses & lace) then to Venice proper to see the Bridge of Sighs, Dogges Palace, St Mark's Square. If we had more time we would have taken a vaporato around & a gondola ride. Watch The Tourist with Johnny Depp & Angelina Jolie before you go. Then peak in to the Hotel Danieli's lobby where they stayed.

Split. We did the waterfall tour. Loved it but it's a ride & you won't see any of Split. No regrets here.

Dubrovnik. Did the cable car. Great view of the city walls. Then to town. Ditched the tour to walk the wall. Exhausting & scary at times but worth it. Also you must check out the two Buza cliff side bars! Try to go to one when the sun is setting.

Corfu. We did the boats to the caves in the town that starts with a P. Long Greek name. Loved it. Viking pay tour. Then they took us to Corfu town. Skipped the tour there to see the shops & then eat/drink along the water with a view.

Naples, did a Viking tour to Pompeii and then Sorrento. Loved both locations. You need a tour guide in Pompeii to understand what you're seeing. Sorrento is all about scenery & shopping. Go off on your own & just find out where & when to meet the group/bus.

Civitavecchia. Rome in Limo again to Rome. Amazing. Collesseum, Trevi fountain, Spanish Steps, circus Maximus, pantheon, etc in morning. Vatican in afternoon.

Livorno. Took a private Rome In Limo tour to Pisa and Florence. Well worth the money but if it seems too steep find another couple or 2 and split the cost. It was our anniversary so we splurged.

Monaco we did the included tour in the morning. Worth it. Takes you to the top of the rock to see the Palace & church where Grace Kelly was married & buried. In the afternoon we cabbed to Monte Carlo to check out the casino, have a drink at the Paris Hotel & a pastry at the Cafe de Paris. Get your passport stamped at the visitor center for free.

Toulon we did the included boat & walking tour in the afternoon. In the morning we visited on our own and toured the local market. Quite a treat as it is not touristy at all.

Dark Avenger,
Excellent idea to add to front & back of cruise. We had an extra day in Barcelona & wish we had had a week! With Viking we did the Gaudi architectural tour & the flamingo show at a replica of an old Spanish town. Gaudi was well worth it because it would take a few cab rides to see these sights. The flamingo show was not worth the price. On our own we saw a Spanish guitar with flamingo dancers at the palace of music. Highly recommend this venue. Also toured Gaudi's le pedrera on our own. The Viking tour only drives by this house. The rooftop is amazing. Visit when the sun is setting to see both day & night views.

No issues with the Viking wi-fi. It was a little slow but it always worked. I sent emails & posted on FB with no problems.
