  1. Thank you for the information.  We are a family of 4 and will be carting all our snorkel equipment and I'd rather not have to plan and wait on buses carrying that load, as we want to go a bunch of places.  I've actually found someone who will spend all day with us (5 hours), take us to all the places we want, plus a local place for lunch and give us the local history of everywhere we go for a very reasonable price.

  2. We are looking for a private driver for the day like we have found on other islands.  We want to stop and snorkel at Cemetery Beach, Smith's Cove and Macabuca, stopping for lunch and at any other local places to our liking.  We have our own snorkel equipment. I haven't seen any posts or anything on Trip Advisor that people have used any one.  I found one service, Majestic Tours, but it is quoting almost $500 for 4 hours to do this.  It's odd as we have found recommendations and great private drivers/guides on all the other islands we have visited.  Does anyone have anyone they have used?  Thank you!😎

  3. We used Carlos Medina, Charlies Custom Tours. He was wonderful! Big, spacious, air conditioned van. We saw old town, walked around, drove along the coast and stopped on a beautiful beach and went up in El Yunque for a mini-rainforest trip. It was a great day. It's one price for up to 8 people in his van. We had it booked for our family of 4 and 3 more friends joined us for no additional cost. He picks up/drops off right across the street from the cruise ship. He knows everything about the island. :)

  4. We sail in 11 days and are celebrating my brother-in-law's birthday, my daughter's birthday, and my grandparents' 61st wedding anniversary while on board.

We are having a hard time figuring out what we can do to celebrate/make it special. Are the decorations worth the cost?

I ordered a customized magnet for the cabin door from Etsy. You can put family name, cruise ship, ports and special occasions on it. It was great!

  5. I have emailed him, used his website, and also emailed the addresss on his website and I have not heard a word back. Can you tell me how long it takes for him to get back ? I know some others commented he got right back to them. I have checked my spam.

He got back to me within a day and my friends also.

  6. can you just walk off and get a golf cart? really dont need it for the whole day

I depends if they are all reserved and how fast you get there. We reserved with Omar at Grand Turk Adventures as did our friends. He was waiting right outside the gates with our golf carts ready to go. Another group came up and he had one cart not reserved, so they were able to get it.

  7. We have had great luck with a taxi driver inside the cruise terminal at amber cove. Our group of 6 used Rafael Diaz eight times and highly recommend him. He is a licensed taxi driver. His van is new, clean and great air conditioning. He speaks conversational English and was very informative and fun! He taught the kids a song in Spanish, and had us entertained the entire days we spent with him. The taxi stand manager knows him by "Diaz" just request him and you will have fun. I felt so comfortable with Diaz that I sent my 2 teenagers to the falls alone with him one day.....for one entire day for 6 people I paid $100 and he took us to the cable car and then to the falls. He waited while the kids climbed the falls and watched their cell phones and backpacks. He is a nice man, proud father and loves to share his country with travelers. If you want his direct phone number let me know

We would like to book Rafael to take us to the falls. Can I get his direct number please?

  8. I can't find many recent reviews of Tours with Ellis. I'm sure that's due to the hurricane. If you wanted to do an island tour with outskirts of rainforest and Old San Juan, would you go with Carlos Medina (Charlie's Custom Tours) or Tours with Ellis?

  9. I find it odd they cancelled everything and are now taking new reservations? Did they cancel so they could raise the price on new reservations? Makes me NOT want to book with them.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Price is the same. Maybe they recovered quicker than they thought they would after the hurricane. Happy Holidays!

  10. We sure did, best day of our vacation! We ended up renting a car, it was less expensive and super easy! I am happy to answer any questions you may have. ;)

I'm so glad to hear you had a wonderful time! I know a lot of people from our cruise are booking this through the ship and Iguana Mama. I think if we take a taxi we would beat the crowds. How long did it take to rent the car? I heard the taxi was $100 flat fee for the roundtrip and they stay with you and stop other places if you want. Thanks for your help.

  11. We will be there next month and planning on doing exactly what you are. One thing I have read is that is go you out of the gates, you can get taxi's for much less expensive and they will stay with you for the day. Either way, this is much better than booking a tour.

I would also love to hear from others who have done this.

Did you already cruise and do this?:)

  12. I was going to book through Iguana Mama for the 12 falls, but then read that the admission at the falls is only $12 per person. Even if we paid $100 for the taxi and then $12 pp for 4 of us it would be $148 plus tip. To go through the tour company it would be $316 plus tips. It seems crazy to pay double just to have transportation already arranged. Are there people that have done this themselves? Thank you.;)

  13. The MSM isn't reporting on this anymore - don't hear much about TX and LA either. Perhaps if local to the area. Anything good going on (resources, hard work, etc) makes government look good and that is not the MSM agenda. Their agenda is to make POTUS look bad.

The Palm Beach Cruise Line ship was chartered by FEMA and is in the Virgin Islands providing housing to the relief workers there.

Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line Provides Housing

To National Guard and First Responders in U.S. Virgin Islands

Hurricanes Irma and Maria caused major devastation to islands in the Caribbean, parts of Florida and more. Our hearts go out to all of the individuals, families and communities that have been impacted.

Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line responded to a request from FEMA for a ship to house the National Guard and first responders as they help to rebuild communities and damaged infrastructure. Our ship, the Grand Celebration arrived in the U.S. Virgin Islands on September 24, for a 90 day period. The ship was originally positioned in St. Croix, but is now stationed in St. Thomas as of October 15.

We are proud to support this humanitarian effort and will update this page as more details of the relief effort unfold. We will resume our normal cruise schedule between the Port of Palm Beach and Grand Bahama Island beginning with the cruise on December 23, 2017.

  14. We booked a snorkel trip with White Sands last March. They were fantastic. They met us on the beach and led us to their boat. It was just our family of 4, the Captain Brent and mate, Tony. We went out to a reef/wall and snorkeled. They had containers of cat food and the fish came right up to you. My 7 and 11 year olds had no problem and they were with us the crew were with us the whole time. Then we pulled anchor and went to Gibbs Cay. Brent and Tony dove off the cay for conch and made us an incredible conch salad we ate. As we were arriving a "cattle boat" of 50 people left and we had Gibbs Cay all to ourselves. The Stingrays came around and Brent held one for us to touch. My daughter LOVED being the only one playing on the beach and in the water. It was our own private island! They also cleaned conch shells for us to take home.

  15. For the best time in Curacao, book Andy Rolfast. His company is Around Curacao Tours. For less than the price of 2 people on an excursion from the cruise ship he will take you all over the island for the whole day, about 5 hours! He will take you wherever you want to go. We saw the blow hole, the salt flats, floating market and bridge, a couple of beaches, a fort, had lunch at a dive resort and snorkeled with sea turtles. He was so nice and personable that we have stayed in touch with him. We have even gone back as Curacao is now one of our favorite islands.:)

  16. Has anyone had this cabin on the Vista that is on this board? We are a family of 4 and have this booked for Spring Break. We were in a suite last cruise on the Conquest. They were already sold out on the Vista. This cabin has a single sofa sleeper and a pull-down bunk. Our kids are 8 and 12. Just wondering if this was comfortable. On the Conquest, they never made up the sofa bed the whole cruise so it was like two huge beds. I'm thinking the bunk might make the cabin seem bigger?

  17. I think it depends on what you want to do and how much time you want to spend. I think we paid like $250 and we spent all day, like 6 hours with him, from morning until dark. He drove us all over the whole island. The only thing we paid separately for was lunch. It was the most reasonable and best of all the tours we took.
