  1. I believe on the Jewel, the only thing that would not be included in the SDP would be the sushi bar. For the a la carte restaurants, as many appetizers and desserts as you want are included, as well as one entree per person.

Le Bistro is my favorite specialty. I always make sure to dine there at least once while on board.

  2. Just needs to be under $15 (and even then you just pay the difference if it is more).

I keep posting this but I will do it again...Patron Silver, Cointreau, and Lime Juice is the best drink you can get under the UBP :).

Yum! Like a margarita, but without all the syrupy mixes! I will definitely be drinking that on my next cruise!

  3. I went on the Sky and we enjoyed it. The Sun and the Sky are both the same class of ship, so I wouldn't expect there to be too much difference. While the Sky was a small ship, we never felt crowded and there are plenty of lounges that your group could gather in. Our other port was Great Stirrup Cay, which would also be nice for your group. You tender off the boat and go strait to the beach, no need to coordinate plans-- a great stress-free day!

  4. Led Bistro is my favorite specialty dining restaurant. I always eat there, even when I don’t have the SDP. I also find Moderno very fun, although not necessarily the best bang for your buck. We are adding it this year though as a fourth specialty restaurant after our 3 day promo SDP. We will eat in the a la cartes with the plan and the. Ay the $25 cover charge for that night.

  5. I think this is the tour company we plan on using but only doing the 3 hour tour. Any other suggestions or comments about this company? Did you just reserve it online? Also, did you do anything in the evening that you were there? And also, did you just concert USD to CUC when you got to port? Thanks!!!

We had dinner at Paladar LaGuardia in the evening. It had a vert nice atmosphere and we really enjoyed venturing out. It is in an old mansion that was converted into apartments. The restaurant in on the top floors. We ate on a giant balcony overlooking the city. If you want to do this you must make reservations in advance online. Also, make sure you get enough CUCs from the port terminal in the morning, as it closes at night.

There are also tons of small restauants in the old town, right near the port. There is live music everywhere and you can get super cheap mojitos (like 2 CUCs).

  6. I was on the Sky to Cuba in August. We booked a private tour through Locally Sourced Havana Tours online before we went and were able to pay by credit card. I think it was $240 for two of us and included a walking tour of the Old City, lunch at an authentic paladar with one drink, a ride in a classic car, and a drink at the Hotel National. We really enjoyed it and it was nice to be on our own time table. The groups from the ship are really big.

The second day we went about 20 minutes outside of the city to Cojimar where we had a cooking demonstration at Cafe Ajiaco. For $50 pp we got a trip to a local garden where we learned about local agriculture, the returned to the restaurant where we went into the kitchen with the chefs to help prepare local dishes. After we learned how to make a mojito at the bar and then were served way more food than we could dream of eating, with a local beverage. It was a great experience that I highly recommend.

  7. When I was on the Breakaway, I stayed in a balcony room, and my brother was in the balcony room next to mine. Our room were reversed. His room had the couch by the window, and mine had the bed by the window. My parents had a mini-sweet, and honestly other than the bathroom, it wasn't much bigger. I wouldn't pay extra for it, you hardly notice the difference.

  8. I am cruising on the Norwegian Star on Nov. 1st out of Tampa to the Wester Caribbean. I was wondering if anyone had any information on the normal entertainment schedule for this cruise. I am having trouble making my dinner reservations without conflicting with that. What time are the shows usually? How long are they? Do they happen every night? Any insight would be appreciated.

    Thanks!
