  1. There's a water taxi stop under the 17th Street bridge by Hilton that goes south and north in the intercostal. 10-2 would give you a nice view of the intercostal and maybe allow for a stop at Bokampers at the north end for lunch. Uber to the stop is about $6-7 and from the stop to the airport would be around $10. We did the taxi in December prior to our cruise and plan to do it again in April. It's a great ride!

  2. Anyone have recent experience in water taxi?

We are getting off the Splendor in Miami on Sunday the 16th. We don't have to be at the airport until 2:00 in Ft Lauderdale

Would 10:00-2:00 be enough time to explore a few stops on the water taxi?

Does anyone know the address as to wear you start? Could I call an Uber from anyone if the stops and get a ride to the airport?

How far is the airport from the water taxi route? Any help is appreciated!

  3. You have lots of bar over at Bayside which is right across the street from the Holiday Inn. There is Bubba Gump, a German place, Hooters etc.

If it was me, I would head over to Brickell. We have lots of bars over here and lots of great happy hours. All within walking distance. At Mary Brickell there is Fado's Irish Pub, Brother Jimmy's, the bar at Toscana Divino is a nice happy hour. Blue Martini, Burger & Beer Joint, Rosa Mexicano, Taverna Opa, Balens. They All have bars and happy hour. Perricones, Batch Gastro Pub, Red Bar, Sugar Rooftop bar, River Oyster, 3 new restaurants at Mary Brickell, Dolores but you can call me Lolita, etc. Blackbird Ordinary...

These are all within steps of each other!

Like literally across the street? Couple minute walk?

  4. My cruise is paid in full. Last night I was fooling around with the travel insurance and seeing how much it would be. I added to the cart and it added it to the total amount due. Now the billing portion of the page says total amount due $218..... no biggie... I just wasn't quite ready to pay it.

My concern is that it says final payment due January 24th which of course is past.

I don't want my cruise to be canceled because I didn't make "final" payment.

I am going to call but was panicking and wanted to ask the experts! 03fa630316655f9387f736407eefbea7.jpg

  5. I got on a new computer and was able to download the menus. There is lox at the Seaday Buffet and the deli. I feel real dumb now, but I am excited after reading all of the menus, thanks again everyone.

My hubby loves Lox on the balcony in the morning. Do they let you order to go from the sea day brunch?

  6. Thanks to all you wonderful people I have my day planned (almost !) for St. Thomas.

    Few more questions:

We dock at 11:00 but our excursion isn't until 1:00. What the closest bars/restaurants to the cruise dock? Walking distance? I believe we will be at Havensight. Cruising on Carnival Splendor in April. How long is the walk to these bars?

Thinking of checking out Iggies at Bolongo before or after the excursion. How far of a taxi ride is that?

    Thanks for all your help!!!!

  7. Do you want a beach or just water? Red Hook and several of its bars/restaurants are on the water, not a beach. Many offer a nice view of marina-- others are just fun to hang out. Island Time, Fish Tails, Senor Frogs, Caribbean Saloon, Duffy's, Tap and Still etc... Lots of drinking options.

However, if you want a beach and bars, that is different. Coki-- small but beautiful beach with little bars/food places. Margaritaville is also close by. Magen's-- very pretty with a bar. Secret Harbor-- nice beach with a bar. Sapphire--beautiful beach with a couple of places to get drinks and food plus a food truck at the top of hill. These are all on the East Side of the island--IMO these are the best beaches

Closer to port you have Bolongo Bay smaller beach which has a fun bar called Iggies. Emerald Beach has food/drinks. Morning Star / Marriott has food and drinks. I'm not as familiar with these--I've only been to them once.

With all of that said-- We like to go to Sapphire in the morning then go to Red Hook to bar hop for a little bit before heading back to the ship.

    :D

Let's says I went to sapphire first for a few hours then went up to PP would we have time to go to Red Hook and bar hop for awhile? Is Red Hook or PP closer to the ship?

Trying to plan things and do the thing closest to her ship last :)

  8. Wow. I know this is going to be good.

I am a sucker for a beautiful sunset.

It chilled out after about 20 minutes and left this beautiful mellow color.

It was now around 5:45, and I decided to hit the gym. Tonight was formal night, so I figured I should do it now. I lifted some, ran a bit on the treadmill, and used a few of the leg machines before hitting the sauna. After my workout, I headed back to the room, where I showered and got my formal wear on a little early. Mom has been asking for a new photo of me for her house, so I wanted to go get one done and buy it for her to give to her at Christmas. I was out of my room at around 7:00.

I went to one of the basic photographers and took my photo. I had some time to kill before dinner, so I went to the El Mojito Bar at the end of the promenade, picked up a drink, and sat down next to someone. His name was Zachary, and he was from Tennessee. I had a good conversation with him about politics and current world events. We agreed to meet again after dinner.

At 8 I went to dinner with everyone. Had a lobster and a salad. Normal formal night. Then, after leaving, I met Zachary again, and we decided to head to the show together. I forgot the name, but I'm pretty sure it was Latin Fever. It was a very good show!

After the show, I decided to leave and get to bed, as we had a very excited day planned for tomorrow, that I will share with you all in the next segment. Here was the view looking down the bridge wing at night.

    Next: Amber Cove!

I am on the same cruise in April! SO excited! Thanks for the awesome review! Where is this secret deck you speak of and how do you get to the bridge wings??

  9. We prefer to fly into FLL even if we cruise out of Miami. We like the hotels and atmosphere better. Not as crazy :). We have used A.R.D. Express services, specifically aldorbelony@gmail.com. 954 822 2957. Awesome door to door service. Will even keep your bags if you want to go to the beach if you have a late return flight.

Can you share the cost? Looking for a service to pick us up at port of Miami and maybe let us explore the beach a little bit before our return flight from FLL. Our return flight isn't until 6:30 pm

  10. Puerto Rico is a pretty big island. 3.5 million people, and 1 million of them live in San Juan. It's a mini-Miami with busy expressways. There's no "renting a golf cart and exploring the island".

With that said, there are PLENTY of things to do in the Old San Juan area where the ship docks and convenient for such a short stop. Just walking around the old city and exploring the historical buildings, museums, forts, and parks will keep you busy for hours. Beautiful and unique. There are also many local restaurants and bars tucked all over the city. Of course, you can always play "dumb tourist" and head straight for Señor Frogs across the street from the pier. So I could just walk to the forts, spend some time there and then walk to old SAN Juan and bar hop and have some local cuisine?

    Everything is within walking distance?

  11. Stopping in SAN Juan from 7:30-4:00.

Other stops on the cruise are Grand Turk, St. Thomas, and Amber Cove.

We are a couple in our 30's no kids with us and then is our second cruise.

For some reason I know what I want to do in every port except SAN Juan.

Are there places within walking distance from the port? What are the must sees?

We are up for pretty much anything. Enjoy drinking and trying local cuisine.

Can you rent golf carts and explore the island on your own???

    Any help is appreciated!

    Thanks!

  12. I too would go with the Hampton Inn. Very close to Publix (grocery store) and CVS, includes breakfast and is very close to Mary Brickell Village with lots of restaurants.

Taxi might run $12.00 to $15.00 although not far from the port.

    Keith

Is Mary Brickell Village within walking distance ?

  13. Actually you owe whatever the deposit it at the time you make the price adjustment. Right now isn't there a sale going on again for $50 deposits? If so you wouldn't owe anything more for deposits because once again there is a $50 deposit sale going on.

I booked under a $50 deposit sale, the later I changed rooms during a 1/2 price deposit sale. I had to pay the difference between the $50 deposits I paid and the 1/2 price deposits I would have to pay under the new sale, I did not have to pay the full deposits.

How about if they are doing half off deposits and $50 on board credit?

Would I be eligible for the on board credits?

    Thanks!

  14. Actually, bigman01 is incorrect about how the price drop will be treated. Since you haven't made final payment yet, they will simply reduce the total amount you owe. There is nothing to refund, since the cruise isn't paid in full yet.

And yes, you will have to pay the rest of the deposit. Be careful too, because they don't always notify you of the balance due. This happened to me once and the only reason I realized that money was owed was when I logged into my account and saw the amount owed. Luckily, they give you a short grace period to pay it. Sometimes, you will get an email stating your cruise will be canceled if you don't make the payment.

But definitely submit the form for the price drop. Every little bit counts. I got a ton of small price drops, sometimes just $20, for my 7/2 cruise this year. Saved hundreds of dollars altogether.

Will I just owe the rest of the balance? Or the total price of cruise?
