  1. Hi we’ll be on the Discovery out of LA in October. Does anyone know if it will show English soccer matches either in cabin or on the MUTS?   With the time difference there’d be a match on the Sunday sea day at 8.30am - would love if it was on the big screen but if not if Discovery have sports 24 then breakfast in the cabin and watching Liverpool get beat will work as well 🤞

  2. Thanks for all the advice.  This is a rearranged trip from over 2 years ago.  So looking forward to it -  fingers crossed!

We’ll be traveling around before the cruise but I have a hotel booked in Long Beach the night before the cruise.  I think it’s about a 15 minute drive away?

First time on Princess. We’re on the Discovery. It’s just under 8 weeks till we fly out from here, so the countdown has begun lol. A bit more paperwork and checks to sort out this time but,  worth it if we can start traveling again.

    many thanks

  3. We dock on a Saturday.

I thought San Pedro and Long beach were interchangeable?   I realise there are different piers but I thought it was all the one “port”.   I’ll make sure we book airport transfer using the correct name !!

We should be grand with managing our own luggage as long as its not lots of stairs.  If they allows cases on the escalator, that’ll be grand as we have done that before rather than wait for lifts.

thank you. It puts my mind at ease.

  4. Hi.
First time cruising with Princess. And first time doing a USA based cruise. We are flying out of LAX to Ireland via Washington DC but the airline has changed our flight.  The new flight is at 12.50.   Are we able to walk off the ship with our luggage ourselves (we’ve done this in Europe) and is the flight connection doable?  The ship docks at 6.15 at San Pedro. We’ll have Irish passports so does this make a difference in terms of customs etc.

Not sure what other flight options we have / can change. But if this is too tight I’ll have to look.

    thanks

  5. Hi

Looking at booking the Vancouver to Hawaii cruise, but hoping to get a better idea of the cost of a drinks package.  It's a 9 day cruise of which 5 are sea days.  I've read the other posts about looking out for sales but as there as so many sea days, I am sceptical that RCL will offer discounts.  Obviously covid makes things harder to predict now, but does anyone have an idea of what I should budget for a drinks package (with and without the gratuities).  I am assuming that the cost will be towards the upper end of the scale $89 + gratuity or am I likely to get something off this in a sale?

    thanks

  6. Hi TXDevil.

I was searching this question and came across your post.  Did you manage to see any of the Premier league matches on your cruise?   My other half is also Liverpool fan. And seeing as it’s supposedly going be their year this year 🙄, he doesn’t want to miss any matches especially as I’m looking to get away mid April.

Sorry for butting in almost two years later lol

  7. Hi

Thinking of doing the RCL Voyager of the Seas repositioning cruise from Sydney to Singapore in April 2020.  Has anyone been on this or similar cruise and if so would you recommend it?  Is there enough entertainment on seeing as there are a fair few sea days and is the food good?

I appreciate that we can’t predict the weather but is it generally warm enough - travelling from Ireland so anything above 20 degrees is “warm enough”.   We get more than enough rain here so is this a dryer or rainy season time of year?

Also, the ship travels up the Aussie east coast before heading over to Singapore - how rough or rocky is the sea generally there. I’ve done the Mediterranean before and barely noticed the boat move.

Ps I sailed on the Norwegian Epic but haven’t experienced Royal Caribbean.

    Many thanks

  8. Hi

I'm looking to book an eastern med cruise on vision of the seas but very confused about cabin choices. I want an ocean view stateroom and I've seen different pictures or examples of cabins but have no idea what I'm actually getting from the descriptions on the site. I can tell which have portholes but that's about it.

I think some of the photos might be a bit misleading and don't want to be disappointed if we book and walk into a room with tiny Windows and no views.

Can anyone tell me what the windows are like on decks 3 and 4 please - any advice or recommendations greatly appreciated! It's only 2 travellers so other space isn't important but would like to have the largest window available for the price.

    Thanks

  9. Ah well here's hoping. And fingers crossed twice over as we haven't had much luck in these play offs - Still haven't got over the hand of Henry yet lol!

And DRB247 - must be a great feeling be able to write that lol. Fantastic result and table toppers too! Be good to see a wee team win it instead of the usual big guns. Belgium looked good in the World Cup too so who knows!

Thanks for all the replies

  10. Thanks - the European Championship is football / soccer. It's the European equivalent to the World Cup. The plays offs are to reach the finals which will be held in France in June so they are significant matches. At least to us anyway.

Does anyone know what sport channels are available on tv or how good the Internet streaming is on board - would it be strong enough to stream live football ?

    Thanks.

  11. Just booked our first cruise (west med on 11 Nov). The TA messed up the booking - we were supposed to be getting a spa balcony but got booked into a guaranteed balcony. When I queried turns out all the spa balconies were gone although they did honour the spa passes. But now we've been allocated room 8037. I could only find 3 reviews two of which were warnings about it being above the night club so very noisy / no sleep and a balcony that gets cigarette butts and other litter dumped on it from above. Has anyone stayed in 8037 or in the forward facing balcony rooms on the Epic? Are they that bad? What is the noise and balcony really like? Trying to decide if I should try and get moved or wait and see.

Also if anyone has done the med in November - how busy is the ship? Have read some worrying reviews about crowds at dinner and bars etc.

    Thanks
