  1. Hi :) i too have straight talk. When I was on my cruise in November, I had downloaded an app on my phone for Internet calling. Well, I purchased the expensive Internet plan and the app just would not work. Carnival was kind enough to cancel my internet plan and refund my money. I used the phone in the room to call home. It was $1.99 per minute. I was scared of what my bill was going to look like so I kept my calls home under 10 minutes when I did choose to call. :)

(I did end up getting Internet again toward the end of the cruise to chat and etc on here and Facebook. But for me, it never worked with the texting and calling apps.)

    Hope this helps :)

  2. I am having a lot of fun. The hosts are nice and I have made sure everyone knows who I am. LOL! Unfortunately, they all got to know me the very first night. It had been a LONG bleeping day! I won't go into all of that. But needless to say, I finally got a drink.

Yes, *a* drink. (side note: I hate hate hate those martini glasses. I always spill them.)

I sat down at Roulette. I had only been there about 10 minutes. I accidentally spilt my drink. Luckily not on the table, but a little got on this girl's shoe who was sitting next to me. I apologized profusely but she quickly yelled over me saying she wanted to leave the casino because I was drunk.

I looked at the dealer, the person to my left, and then the crazy yelling chick and said, "this is my first drink and I have only had one sip before it fell out of the glass." I continued to try to apologize.

Once the scene was done.... the dealer and the casino host made jokes with me. The people at the table were fun. It was all okay. :)

And this is how I became well-known in the casino. LOL!! It wasn't my plan but it works I suppose. haha

    Have a good day!

  3. 15 days til I cruise. I've read, read, read this entire board. I'm introducing myself to the pit boss (which I've never done on the ship) the very first day, handing them the sail and sign card and asking "you're tracking me right??," and lastly I am going to do a little play on slots. I never play slots. I'm a tables kind of girl BUT.. I'm covering my bases. Lol!!!

And if I don't get a free drink or offer of some kind after I spend all of my money and time(like normal) , then I'm going to know it's not me. Haha

But seriously, I really do hope I start earning offers. It will make me feel a little better after I return home from having fun losing. Lol!! :)

  4. Oh man Oh man Oh man.. I booked spirit airlines. It was the only option I could afford. I made the mistake of searching the forums before I fell asleep to see if anyone has ever used them before. I'm so scared now that I won't make it in time....... :-/ the flight is supposed to land at 11:40a. Surely if they are running late on still make it to fll before the deadline to embark.. Right?? :(

  5. I did it!! I bit the bullet and bought a plane ticket. Then I booked my transfers with Carnival! I'm so excited and elated!!! 16 more days and all of my worries are pushed to the side. I'm ready to get on and have fun!!!!!!!!!

When I check in, is it safe to tell Carnival I'm alone? I ask bc i want to get cheers when I get on board. No big deal if I don't but I'd like to if I can. :D

Thank you everyone for all of your replies! :)

  6. I am reading through old posts trying to find some sort of out to where I can bring someone with me on this cruise in 22 days. I don't want to go alone. It is a 14 hour drive. When I had found affordable airfare, my friend said, "nahhh it will be fun doing a road trip and we'll save money." Now, I am stuck doing a 14 hour drive alone.

I am not worried about the drive. I can stop in the middle.

I am just.. ahhh. Out of all of the penalties, how does it make sense for Carnival to have a "no name change" policy in effect for early saver rates? I guess I don't understand because 2 people can spend more money than 1.

Ugh I know, I know. Stop whining and complaining. I should just be looking fwd to the cruise itself. But for once, I am not. I have no issue with the being alone part. My biggest issue is I don't want to drive alone.

Thanks for just letting me vent..

  7. This has probably been asked a million times. I know I asked on a different thread but I can't remember where I asked it so I can see the reply (if there was one). lol So, I apologize in advance if this is often asked. I am just curious and cannot find any answers.

As I have said previously, my friend has backed out of our cruise in Nov. I cannot find a single person to go in his place either.... crazy! Anyways..

Thankfully, he is just going to do the "no show" thing so it does not affect my cruise. I want to make sure he does get his money for the port fees and gratuities when they refund. Will Carnival automatically know to refund to HIS card or how does that work? It is no big deal if it goes onto my card because I can give to him. I just don't want it to be given as OBC.

    Thanks all! :)

  8. 2 credit cards. Did each book individually using their own credit cards? If so, it will all go back onto the other card.

We booked under one acct and both names on it. But I dont think we ever said this goes toward mine or his. I'm thinking maybe I should just tell them when I check in so it goes on his card. Is that what you think?

  9. If 2 credit cards were used. How do they know which to return it to? Like do we just tellb them? I've been wondering. I want to ensure my cabinmate gets as much back as possible w/o it making me my part of the trip :)

  10. I have been on 4 cruises.

    02/2008 on Imagination

    01/2009 on Splendor

    03/2010 on Glory

    09/2015 on Elation

and I have already booked 3 more. LOL I know my cruising history is small compared to others. In the casino, I only play roulette and craps. This last cruise I predominantly played roulette. I am not into slots but I keep reading that slots is more accurate because it is machine recording play. But the money... whew. This is why I limit my casino play to cruises. I can easily see how people get addicted. Goodness knows I have spent too much too easily. ;X lol

My next 3 cruises are for

    11/2015 on Conquest

    02/2016 on Elation

    10/2016 on Ecstasy

I am hoping to book one more cruise for 2016 before I start planning 2017. :)

  11. LOL!! Jimbo, its good to know i'm not alone.

Clambert, I plan on making the pit boss my bestie the entire cruise. HAHA! ;)

Thanks for the replies. I am glad no one took offense to my post because I definitely meant it in a playful way. :)

  12. Sometimes reading these boards are super helpful and other times I feel slightly jealous (but I am still happy for everyone else). Lol! Does anyone feel this way ever?

I only cruise Carnival and I am in the casino a lot. So my first thing was despite the amount of time and money I spend in the casino I have never been offered one of the cool casino offers or anything. Ugh a bit bitter but in the end it helped a lot because I gained a lot of good advice from the forums to ensure my game play is accurately reported.

I am also reading how people have gotten calls with offers of upgrades at discounted prices. I am like, "how cool!!" And I get excited for everyone who has said it. But then I think "hmm how come I have never gotten an offer like that?"

Those are two examples. I really am not mad or anything. And I truly am happy for everyone who gets the amazing deals. I am just looking forward to the day I get a piece of that awesomeness! hehehee :D

  13. I love watching the sun rise and set. I agree with a previous poster. It's one of my favorite parts of cruising. The times are listed on the fun times but I always go out about 10-15 early for the sunrise. It's sooooo nice!! Here a pic of a sunrise from my last cruise in Sept. :)

(hope the pic attaches right lol)

  14. I want to call Carnival and ask but I'm afraid if he does back out then they'll say I had prior knowledge or something and definitely try to charge me. The truth is I don't know. I could be worrying about absolute nothing. It's just the possibility scares me.

For not just the cost or what I might have to cover, but also bc it makes me sad he might back out. He's my good friend. I'm just sad for both sides of the spectrum.

I hope it all works out.

  15. It's just me and him. Sorry for using the pronoun "they." I didn't notice. :/

Thank you everyone for the replies! I'm hoping and praying he doesn't back out. I didn't get the insurance because I have never backed out and didn't want to spend the extra $75 (now I'm regretting it). He has insurance through carnival and not an outside agency.

He hasn't confirmed or denied whether he is going to back out. I may be worried about nothing. I am also sad that he might back out bc I've been really looking fwd to experiencing this with him. He has never been on a cruise and he is one of my closest friends.

I just hope he doesn't back out. Either way.. Just hope he doesn't.
