Not sure how they will detect if you have spirits in you suitcase, security at Southampton is under the control of Associated British Ports, not P&O and as far as I am aware scanners can’t distinguish between a bottle wine and a bottle of spirits. I guess if the bottle was a distinctive shape they might.

I wander if down the line they'll be an announcement that all drinks soft or alcoholic must be carried in your hand luggage?

  2. We were on Arvia Oct. 23 for the TA to the Carribbean. We expected that the ship would be busy due to the many sea days but all I can say is thank heavens we were in a balcony cabin so we could escape the crowds.

On the whole we did enjoy the ship but we had to be organised to ensure we didn't miss out on things like dining choice and entertainment etc.

On our cruise the sunbed issue was a problem, people started putting towels out from 06:00 with most being taken by 09:00 unfortunately they weren't occupied until much later.

The experience didn't put us off sailing with p&o again but we wouldn't book another TA.

  3. We saw La Voix in the limelight club last November on Arvia's TA to the Carribbean. I wasn't so bothered  but my wife was desperate to see her and I've got to say I really enjoyed the show. She's  a good singer and very funny.

One thing though we were sat near the back and she did go up to the table next to us and said to the woman you look nice then looking at her husband said " who's this your carer " he didn't laugh 😬

Even if you are happy with the change its really not on that they aren't letting people know. You might have booked a private tour for the port and need to know to cancel it. On our upcoming RC cruise they cancelled a port but let us know immediately.

Totally agree, had we not been part of the FB group we wouldn't know about the change. Communication with customers isn't one of p&o's strong points.

  5. We've also recently seen on a social media site for our Nov. cruise G438 that our itinerary has been changed swapping Valencia for Cartagena but haven't had any notification from p&o about the change.

Not complaining though as we've been to Cartagena before and always said we'd like to return one day. 🙂
