  1. There is no fixed cost, tips are at your discretion. If they are just taking bags at embarkation, a minimal amount. If they are taking your bags at disembarkation, walking you through customs (maybe in a faster line), taking bags to your car, loading them, etc., then I'd give more.

The last time we cruised out of San Juan I tipped the porter $20. To get us through customs. Didn’t feel it was bad,but don’t want to insult anyone.

  2. I can’t add to the cruise price discussion, but I do have a price point for airfare. I flew round trip from Tucson to San Juan in May 1987 coach class on Eastern Airlines. We had a very nice dinner, Chicken Kiev I believe. The ticket price was $1300.

For my November 2016 cruise, Tucson to San Juan round trip business class was $860. The meal was much better in 1987, but 2016 had no smokers on the plane. Baggage claim in San Juan was equally slow.

I do enjoy hearing stories of how cruising used to be. But I really have enjoyed not having smoking everywhere now. I would never book a balcony room if smoking was allowed on them. Flying is not much fun now, but we live in a very different world since 9/11. And I really appreciate not sitting in a smoked filled airplane for several hours.

Unfortunately life has changed in many ways for the worse, but also in some ways for the better. I enjoy taking a vacation and not having to cook or clean for an entire week. I don't get to travel very much so try to enjoy the time I do.

    Just my few thoughts.

  3. we really liked it , but limited 3 or so appetizers. maybe 7 entrees several steaks, salmon, hamburger , 3 or 4 sides and a couple of deserts, mushroom soup was excellent , check your cruise planner you should see if it is there and the menu

So what I see for lunch is the whole menu? Could I order a side if the appetizers don't appeal? I don't see much on the appetizers that may appeal to my sister.

  4. There are many Quinceanera cruises (celebrations of a girl turning 15) from Puerto Rico. Although, with the post Irma situation, I am not sure how many there will be now. We had one on a cruise of ours and the girls were sweet and respectful.

I think it is good to google group cruises with your cruise date and see what comes up.

Thanks for the reply. We did have several groups in 2016. No problems Quinceanera groups.

  5. If in the Condado area, Orozco is good authentic local food at reasonable prices.

Loved Orozco when we were there in 2016. Can't wait till June to go back. [emoji3]

It is a place that locals go to eat, so very authentic.
