  1. Absolutely. My thoughts exactly. This whole "class" discussion is weird to me because there's no "class" issue here. If you want the product/service and willing to pay for it, then buy it. If you don't, don't. I've cruised on Cunard and never saw any "class" issues at all. Those who wanted to shell out the extra loot got extras and those who didn't spent it on other things or saved it. It's sort of like the Elite, Platinum discussions (I find those hilarious, btw). You're paying for a product and you're a loyal customer - you get some freebies because of it. There's no reason to be elitist, etc. You're paying for it.

I posted earlier about the whole "class" conversation. It does still bother me there are such distinctions between "groups" of people in our society. My issue is not necessarily with the cruise class, it is beyond where there are obvious differences made. That was why my post was "anti class."

However, I do agree with your valid point. This will be my first cruise with my DH this September. We have been married almost 43 years and never been on a real vacation. We are also considering a vow renewal!! So, we really splurged for a suite. For us personally, it really is about the luxury of the suite for our cruise. The perks come in second. That being said, we will enjoy the perks because you are right, we did a lot of money and the perks are included. By the way, we are going before the Club Class takes place on the Star Princess.

Thank you for helping me to see this conversation from a different perspective. My DH and I will enjoy this one elaborate vacation, with the perks, and then back to an ordinary life. :) :) :)

  2. Cruise in sept would like see Mendenhall Glacier any suggestions on how to see it? Should we book thru princess? Go out on our own? What did everyone think of the glacier? Is it a must see? Or is there something better to do in Juneau? Thanks for everyone's suggestions!!

    What date in September?

  3. You can certainly go use the restroom (there are some on the Lido deck within steps from the pool area) or go to the bar to grab a drink.

But if you're going to go eat lunch (which means you'll probably be away for at least 30 minutes) or take part in an activity or go for a spa treatment (I remember a discussion about chair hogs some years ago on CC and one person insisted that he thought it was all right to save his chair while he went for a massage)...just take your stuff with you and let others have the chairs you were using. Now sometimes people will leave behind their spouse and go to the Horizon to get a plate of food and return right away. That's within the 30 minute period.

And sometimes people are using the pool so they may use a chair for holding their towel' date=' sunscreen, sunglasses while in the pool with the intent to lie in the chair after their swim. That's when it's good to do as cb at sea suggests and tell those in the other chairs you're going for a dip in the pool. Usually most of us will help out someone who's just running to the restroom, etc. and keep an eye for your chair. If the pool deck is basically deserted while you're in the pool, most likely you won't lose your chair, unless some chair hog comes along and replaces your stuff with their stuff.[/quote']

Cruzin' Chick, thank you for the information. :) I find new information every day about cruising tips and advice.

My DH and I would never hold a chair for more than a restroom/drink break, and one of us would stay to save our seats. It would not be for 30 minutes or longer, though.

It was refreshing to read some positive posts about acts of kindness. There are many people who do still care about others. :)

  4. Hi J!

Exactly! And that's the reason I feel that towels don't hold chairs. I observed that since there is no bin by that pool lots of folks just leave their towel behind when they leave. Plus at the spa pool is easy to count noses and those usually have more than just a towel (shoes, a robe or bag while they're in the pool or hot tubs, etc).

New to cruising this September, I would have thought the crew placed them on the chairs for anyone to use. Not sure who would have been the most surprised when they returned for their chairs, them or me. :) But now I know the difference or do I? - :D ;) :p

  5. Just asking since my first cruise will be this September. I need a little more information on this.

Can a person leave the lounger to get a drink or a bathroom break without giving up a chair? Or, it is given up the minute a person gets up? Is there a polite period of time to leave without losing a chair?

  6. I don't like it either. In fact, I don't like the whole class distinction used for any reason.

September will be the first cruise for my DH and me. We really splurged and reserved a suite to celebrate 43 years of marriage. It would make us uncomfortable to eat in a separate dining area. It just has a superior air of superiority for certain groups of people. That is not who we are!!

  7. SusieQ:

you have not lost breakfast in Sabatinis nor the lotus spa. They are still on the list. We are on the regal in a few days. I plan on giving info when we get back.

Cheeseclan, the lists that I have aren't the same as yours, I think. The old list included those but the new ones do not. Do you have a link for the amenities? Thanks for your help.

  8. Complimentary cruise card wallet is on the bottom of the middle column.

The last three that we got were black leather wallets with the Princess Seawitch embossed on them.

    Seawitch, thanks for your response.

I knew it was there before and then gone. Princess has conflicting amenities on their site. One list does have the wallet where the other one doesn't.

    (listed)

    http://www.princess.com/learn/ships/staterooms/suites/suites-services-and-amenities/ (not listed) :confused::confused:

  9. I am so frustrated about the amenities - or lack of now.

My DH and I are going on our first overdue vacation/cruise (married 43 years). We will be on the Star this September to Alaska and splurged with a suite for the cruise. The reservation was made a year in advance.

Princess has changed the amenities since the reservations were made - and not to our advantage. As far as I can tell we lost breakfast at Sabatini's and the Lotus Spa. There are a few more but less significant. They seem to be replaced with ice 2x daily, stationary, and an umbrella. Some of the amenities are still available on some ships, but not the Star.

Does the new list go into effect immediately??? If so, not a happy camper. We will have lost some great amenities but the cost of the suite did not change. It is seriously making me reconsider the cruise. :(

  10. So has it been definitively decided that there's no free bottled water in the suites? The only reason I want to know is that if I'm sure there is NOT, I will order the bottled water delivery ahead of time. I did that on my last (non-suite) Princess cruise and it was very convenient to have the water there in my room waiting for me and not have to try to buy some water in every port.

Also -- on one of the amenities lists there's a mention of a cruise card holder. Is this still being done? Again, I'd like to know because I was considering buying one for my next cruise. (I usually keep my card in my wallet, but I saw so many people wearing them on lanyards that I realized it was probably more efficient that way.)

The cruise card holder has been removed. I saw it at one time but I can't find it anymore.

  11. Been following this thread since Friday, how sad. It's a shame she's lost her life, and left her husband and children to always kind of wonder what exactly happened and what was she thinking. I know it was reported that she sat on a railing and fell backwards. SO much speculation on here that maybe she drank to much. Why was she alone? In the end, none of it makes a difference. She did something stupid and unfortunately lost her life for it. We've all done stupid things, hindsight is 20/20. There is a lot of stupid stuff I've done, and looking back I think about how much of a different outcome there could've been. So regardless if she was drunk, suicidal, or just not thinking... a life was lost. Young kids now don't have their mother and a man is widowed. There seems to be a lot of arguing on this thread about this law and that law. Truth is, it just doesn't matter at the end of the day. She's gone and bickering and go back and forth about "woulda coulda shoulda's" won't bring her back. My thoughts and prayers are with her family, I hope they can find some sort of peace in all of this.

    Very well said!!! :)

  12. Thank you for that thoughtful insight. I totally understand what you're saying.

Thank you for you compassionate post. What could've/should've have been in place does not help this family. They are hurting and their loss should be respected. No one knows (on CC) how much therapy she had before deciding to end her life. My bother-in-law had all the mental help that was available, but he still followed through with his threats.

It is unfortunate it has effected so many passengers. Many people scrimped and scraped to pay for their much anticipated cruise. It is totally understandable about their disappointment. I would have been disappointed too.

Saying that, the cold and callous comments on here just blow my mind. Usually people who are so insensitive and rude have never experienced trauma in their lives. Count yourself fortunate. At least you are not one of her innocent family members left to pick up the pieces - selfish act on her part or not!! :(

  13. Anyone on Liberty right now?

For the past two hours they have been paging a passenger every 5-10 mins. Has anyone experienced this before on a cruise?

They are now paging all guests asking if anyone has seen her recently to call security. We have seen several security personnel walking around as well.

I certainly hope she is ok.

Not trying to cause a panic on the forums, but I've never heard of this before

    Did they find her?

  14. Thanks everyone for your kind responses. There are so many nice and helpful people on CC.

    Krazy Kruzers,

Sorry, that my post was in the wrong thread. Since my post was number 63, and I was commenting on other posts, I was not aware of starting a new thread. It was simply a post. If I can't comment on the thread that I am reading, then maybe you can tell me the correct way of posting.
