Celebrity is dumbing down their itineraries more with this move but I don't think Celebrity is the best cruise line for lifetime cruise to Antarctica. One of the Expedition type cruise lines where you land on the continent in a zodiac would be a lot better.

I agree with your assessment after looking at several options other than a large cruise ship like Equinox. Perhaps the relocation of Equinox from South America to Port Canaveral is a blessing in disguise. Despite being very disappointed about my booked cruise being canceled, I am resolved to find a better option and move on.

Hmmm.....  I'm happy about the move to Port Canaveral but we are booked on Equinox in January 2025 for our cruise to Antarctica out of Buenos Aires.  Something doesn't seem right. I guess more changes are coming if this is correct.

I don't like the direction that seems to be indicated by this decision. My wife and I were booked on Equinox for the 1/18/25 South America/Antarctica cruise round trip from Buenos Aires. So much for planning ahead! What this decision tells me is that Celebrity is moving away from unique itineraries and is instead opting for middle of the road, predictable itineraries. I checked on alternate destinations on Celebrity's website, but I could not search for anything past August 2024. I received e-mail messages from both my travel agent and Celebrity. The e-mail from Celebrity was patronizing and amounted to insincere propaganda. I have been loyal to Celebrity, but I am seriously questioning if my loyalty has been wasted.

  3. This message thread is most interesting, with every message well written. Some medical experts are now stating that the shutdown may have actually increased the numbers of infections and deaths. For sure, travelers need to be alert and on guard all the time on every trip. With the correct mindset and attitude, travel in the future will be different but still very much worth the effort. I'm optimistic that science, business and society can adapt to the changing environment and can prosper.

Actually, the poster was agreeing with you.  When one says, "THIS", it's his/her way of saying that your words were exactly what they would have said.  It was a compliment.  🙂

Thank you for your clarification! I took the capitalization and single word entirely the wrong way. I appreciate the explanation!

    THIS!

My praise of Celebrity must not be to your liking. I took time to post our experiences with Celebrity, but I suppose that positive experiences must be met with cynicism. I can add that not one of our many cruises with Celebrity was perfect, but I can also certainly add that any problems we encountered were handled professionally by the onboard staff. If my positive statement is beneath your standards of posting on this forum, I apologize.

  6. My wife and I have sailed with Celebrity since 2003, are Captain's Club members, and receive regular e-mail messages from the cruise line. This particular message is the latest of many that have been sent this year. We have had excellent experiences on every cruise with Celebrity and are excited to cruise with them as soon as this fall. For us, the dining, shore excursions and interactions with onboard staff and officers are wonderful. I understand the frustrations of waiting on refunds and/or future cruise credits, but patience is required as everyone deals with this unprecedented pandemic.
