Morning folks - Kevin Simm and Andy Abraham are listed as the entertainment in the Limelight Club for my forthcoming cruise on Britannia.   Would any of you who have seen them care to comment?    Thanks in advance.

Sorry that you are having sleepless nights, hopefully now you have highlighted it they will ensure the noise is reduced.

If you have time could you expand on your comment about tatty? Comparisons between what has changed condition wise between October last year and now would be extremely helpful.

Recent returnees from Britannia cruises who post here have stated they found her in good and excellent condition but they are people who have not sailed on her for a number of years.  As a recent return visitor it would be extremely helpful to know what you have seen deterioration in.

I sailed on Britannia last December and she was in fine condition so any deterioration you have noticed has presumably occurred during 2023.

I hope you start to enjoy your current cruise more than to date.

    Thank you.

  2. Saw Andy Abraham in April. I had not heard of him, but always enjoy a night in the Limelight Club. The four of us were all impressed. He covered a range of Nat King Cole songs along with a Motown/Soul mix. Andy has a good voice for that music. This was interspersed with interesting chat.

    We would recommend.

  3. Done this route a couple of times. All are lovely ports within themselves. Note Seville is a 1.5-2 hour excursion from Cadiz in itself. Here are excursions I have been on from these ports.

La Coruna...to the pilgrimage city of Santiago de Compostela

Malaga.. to Granada and the Alhambra

Alicante.... had a fun day out in Benidorm

Toulon....just enjoy the town and coast...lovely walks

Barcelona....La Sagrada de Familia. Not sure if the Nou Camp stadium redevelopment will be finished for tours.

Seville is a must if you have not been and in spring it will be very colourful and the April Fayre may be on.

You will not be short of places to go and quite a few you can easily do yourselves.

I am on this cruise next May. Not yet looked at excursions, but as with young children this time round, most likely will stay around these ports destinations. It really is an excellent itinerary.

We were on the QM2 when she snapped her ropes. It's quite a scary thing.

However,  2 or 3 days into the cruise the captain announced that the forecast for Villefranche was not looking good and he had, therefore, taken the decision to cancel and we would go instead to Alghero, Sardinia.  Both these ports are tendered.  Apparently he made the right call as the weather was worse than expected and a Royal Caribbean ship had tried twice unsuccessfully to dock before giving up.

Did the captain on the Britannia have no advance warning at all, or was it just a sudden totally unexpected storm?

  5. On reading some cruise reviews the comments written can show little resemblance to the star ratings given.

I have just had a cruise review published and the ratings shown are not always the ones I (thought) I gave. For example, I sang the praises of a port and only a 1 star rating has shown. I thought I had given a 5 star rating! This is also evident elsewhere, where only 1 star is given for service and I intended 4 stars.

Maybe it is just me being careless, but if I can point to at least 3 ratings errors in my review I guess it happens elsewhere. Of course, the review can't be amended once published.

Anyone else had a similar experience?
