I'm gutted that they are swapping the Sun for the Joy in 2025. I've had to change my 2024 trip for family reasons and was so looking forward to sailing on the Sun as I think she is the perfect ship for Alaska

I use online chat to make these kind of changes.

On our last four MSC cruises out of Florida, the announcements were made in one language - English!
The US cruises are only in English but if you sail in Europe then they are multi-lingual

I travel solo and used to sail in the Haven (courtyard penthouse) but it is ridiculously expensive now. I tried MSC YC first 4 years ago and as others have said there are pros and cons for each. However I prefer YC as I think the service is better and I like that everything is included ie Premium drinks, Premium Wifi and Spa access. They have changed the minibar inclusivity (now there are only refills on the soda but you do get a litre of a spirit). I stay in an interior as spend very little time in my cabin.
Here is my quick comparison
Haven YC Priority check-in/boarding y y Butler escort off ship y y Butler escort back on ship n y Butler escort to shows y y Wifi included n y Drinks included y y Spa included* n y Grill on sundeck n y Restaurant menu changes n y Daily snacks in lounge n y Lounge entertainment n y Daily snack delivery to cabin y y
y
* NCL only if in spa cabin
One thing to note with MSC is that you can't make speciality restaurant bookings until you board.
The things I prefer on MSC are:
- Everything is included, the spas are amazing on the newer ships
- Fresh fish at the sundeck grill
- Butler escort back on the ship
- Pizza delivery service
- Cost

I find the marketing of CN certs to be similar to the sleaziness of things like time shares. This idea that you get $X OBC is just one example. It's total BS meant to entice the uninformed to buy something. They should just market it the way it is: 1 CN with face value $250 costs you $150. 2 CNs, each with face value $250 for total of $500, costs $250, etc.
On the Encore last week, I watched the future cruise presentation. I thought the presentation was awful and that Cruise Next Manager shouldn't be doing marketing presentations (he spent way to much time talking about crazy long back to back itineraries like the masses really care to combine 5 segments into a 45 day cruise). But one thing he was real good about was explaining exactly what you pay to get the CNs - He made it real simple - Buy 2 CNs, pay $250. No BS about OBC.I completely agree with you. Wish all Cruise Next mangers were like that one. It really annoys how they sell this. On my last cruise they were saying things like "I'll pay for your spa treatments" in other words encouraging people to use the OBC rather than leave it so the cost of the CNs is reduced.

I'm doing a 2-night cruise next year and wondered whether I would get any of the Diamond benefits apart from the priority boarding.

mine was canceled yesterday for a June 25, 2023 date. Only good thing I'll say is I'm getting an additional 10% off our next cruise.
Unfortunately the 10% is only valid until 20 June 2023 and therefore doesn't even cover the original cruise date so I won't be able to use it 😞

As a solo traveller too, NCL have priced me out of the Haven. IMHO I think YC is a better product and my go to if I want to be spoilt (as long as there is an inside cabin available)

I personally would choose the Haven Courtyard Suite. I stayed in a Haven Spa Suite on Epic and whilst I loved it, I missed not being in the Haven proper. IMHO Epic is my favourite Haven

P&Os new ship Iona has a similar blueprint and she has a full size buffet as well as the food cart area

I did this tour in Jan 2020 and there was no issue taking your own camera

I was really excited to get the letter but disappointed that it is only a months extension with booking still only for 2022. I've got FCC left over from my 2022 bookings

I returned last week from a cruise that included these islands

Looks like my days of cruising from the US are over until they change this 😭 Luckily the ones I have booked are not from the US. Glad the EU are being sensible about it.

Exactly the same for me.

I sailed on the Grandiosa last year in a YC inside and loved it. Admittedly it was a November cruise in the Med but I didn't miss the balcony as the YC area is so big and I just used the cabin to sleep in. I've sailed NCL Haven before but think YC is a better product, the service is second to none

THANK YOU !!
Just booked it !! (Cabin 12006)
I did a TA last year on the Star in 12068. DIdn't miss the balcony and if I had seen your post earlier I would have suggested deck 12 as you walk out onto the pool deck. The room is massive, I struggled to find the bed the first few nights.

Not booking. My wife passed away unexpectedly last month. With a completely new outlook on life, I promised my kids and my granddaughters that I will be taking them on a Haven cruise as soon as things get back closer to normal. But, I am not going to book anything until I get a good idea of how the cruises are going to work, and how the "new normal" rules get relaxed over time.
Hi Dave
Just seen this post. So sorry to hear about Judy I have such wonderful memories of our Getaway cruise together and lots of laughter with you both.
My thoughts are with you and your family

I'm wondering whether this would work. As a menopausal woman the thought of not having a fan I can quickly turn on to help with my hot flushes is worrying (AC is no good as I'm not hot all the time). I wonder whether this could be deemed as sex discrimination 😂
