  1. Anyone stay here recently? I've checked TripAdvisor and they seem to have pretty good ratings but interested if anyone on CC has any insights. We will not have a car and will be traveling to the port of Miami. Curious on what shuttles to take, not interested in taxi or Uber. Thx in advance.

Did you stay at this hotel? How was it and how did you get to the Port of Miami?

  2. Even with all the "free or discounted" drinks that can be offered on the ship, I still think the cheers program with the reduced rates is worth the price. 2 or 3 glass of wine at dinner and an after dinner amaretto, and then a beverage at a show...that is 5 drinks at least 35 or more dollars right there. (I sound like a lush - but I really am not)...(just keep telling myself that......) lol

  3. My daughter stopped going to the camps 3 years ago, she is 13. She enjoys meeting the kids during other activities and would rather sit on the deck and watch a movie or play in the arcade if she was "bored" or watch a show. Its a nice social function and good place for the little kids, but as they get older some kids don't want to be in "camp".

  4. Very true but sometimes it is good for both parties, Carnival to unload a more expensive cabin and the cruiser who gets a good deal and stays in a cabin he wouldnt ordinarily book.

If the difference was a reasonable deal and a low amount I would be willing to think about it. But it was practically all my OBC that I got getting myself to the lido balcony. Besides my DD likes the idea of having the pool and the food almost right outside her door.

I joked with her - maybe you can swim in the tub in the OS hahah!! (NOT). :)

  5. I am less than 30 days out. I get "the call". I listen patiently how the PVP describes the OS room, the bathtub, the balcony, etc, etc,....I am not biting yet...I ask - what floor hmmm.......then I ask how much....look dude lets just cut to the chase. And then suddenly he is rushing ME off the phone. Because his sales pitch wasn't working and I wasn't excited about leaving my convenient room on the lido deck to spend more money for a OS. I did better researching my own upgrade. Thanks, but no thanks.

  6. That's a great question I was thinking about renting one, but not sure if it might get too hot in the shell..

    Anyone with some insight?

  7. quoted from John Heald facebook post:

"The only Carnival ship this is affecting at the moment is the Carnival Splendor he port call at Saint John, NB,Canada has been substituted by a at Bermuda, bringing the vessel alongside Heritage Wharf. Here is the new itinerary.

Guest will receive a letter when they board plus announcements from the Captain and Cruise Director and I am sure will be very happy with this change."

Why would anyone complain but there will probably be a few that will. These are the chances you take cruising, Mother Nature is always in charge.

  8. To me, the price drop threads don't need to contain the actual price. Just the fact that the original poster saved money makes me happy for them. I'm booking based on my own wallet and room preferences. That said, here's my info:

Booked a 6K quad about 70 days out (after having to switch sailing dates and ships) for $3002. Final price after two price drops was $2243 including taxes & port fees - not gratuities. Got insurance on our own for just about $120. Super excited to have gotten that cabin at that price in the Summer for an 8-night sailing!

I also book based on my wallet, but I might pay a little more for convenience.

Sailing out of NY and living here I will spend absolutely nothing to get on the ship - so I might spend a little more to get a higher level cabin or do an excursion that is a little more. These would be things that I might not do if I was flying in.

  9. It is not to often will i say much about John's postings.. but if you don't want to tell the pasengers He should of never posted it on facebook. There are cell phones, phones and email. Call me crazy but someone knows someone on the ship and is going to get ahold of them and tell them about his posting. All they have to do is now go on the computers on the ship to confirm what they were told by going on facebook..

Exactly! I think I would be more annoyed to find it out by a 3rd party since this could affect the trip and not find out by the ships captain.

  10. I say 1:30 - 2:00. IMO you will feel less rushed, and experience shorter lines. Yeah you might miss one lunch, but that will only make dinner taste that much better. And by the end of your cruise you won't even care.

It is funny to me that those who want to be the first ones on the ship also want to be the first off the ship the last day.

Since you are driving, start your vacation ASAP by sleeping in. And do the same on the last day. We slept as late as possible, ate a leisurely breakfast and stayed in our cabin until they kicked us out...then strolled off the ship.

    Have done this twice.

I like being one of the last groups off the ship. Makes my vacation last just a little bit longer.

  11. So mom and I go up to deck 10 to watch us sail away from GT... and low and behold there is a Splendido there too.. shocker!! lol...

Have you joined our roll call yet? It's a small but friendly group and we are going to do a slot pull.

  13. Hey All,

How do the L shaped rooms, say 6499 compare to the Aft extended corner rooms on say Deck 9 on Breeze? I've only stayed in a standard balcony cabin, with the promo I have Cove, Balcony, Large Balcony and Aft Extended are the same price. I don't think I'd like cove. Traveling with my little man, 3 year old single Dad again on Breeze.

Thanks for any tips or help. Are the corner aft extended rooms larger than say in the middle?

    Thanks.

I can't answer your question, but I have the L shaped room booked for my next trip. I was hoping with the longer balcony we can have a lounge chair instead of two normal chairs. I hope you get the answer.

Once it was booked I was chatting with another Splendido and told her I upgraded... she was like "I WANT YOUR OLD CABIN!".. so she called her TA and told her "my friend just upgraded and her cabin is available and I want it"... So Score for her!! Glad it went to someone I knew.. :D

How did your friend like the room? Was there a lot of room inside? Was the balcony as specious as others say? Was there room to put two lounge chairs? Was your suite worth the change??
