This will be our first cruise with Regent. We're booked on the Grandeau in Suite 800 and are wondering if we need to make a change. I understand that the balcony has a solid "wall" rather than plexiglass as we're used to. Is this only for these forward suites or do all suites have the solid wall. Also, can you fee the movement in this suite? We are cruising the med, so I'm not certain how rough the waters are in that area, however, I am very prone to motion illness. Any photos or additional information regarding this suite is very much appreciated. Thanks!

Fingers crossed that we'll get a glimpse of the northern lights. The land portion is from 9/10-9/16 - we're from Florida, so I'm hoping we won't freeze. We go to Breckenridge, CO during spring break, hoping it's not any colder than that! Just going to be different not wearing shorts and tanks on the cruise portion!

Thank you all for your help, you all brought up some good points and items I should look into. We are going ahead with our plans for the 2 nights in Denali - I have a feeling that we're going to enjoy the land portion of the trip more than the cruise part! We're so excited and even through the cruise is over 3 months away, all of the excursions are filling up quickly! Let me know if there's anything that we shouldn't miss!
Thanks again!

Hi, we're planning a last minute Alaska cruisetour on the Radiance of the Seas for this September. We want to get the most out of the land portion and I'm having a difficult time determining the difference between the land selections titled "Fjord & Tundra National Parks Explorer" and "Grand Mountain Marvels" other than one being a day longer. It looks like the "Marvels" includes time in Talkeetna and two nights in Denali and the "Explorer" has two nights in Fairbanks.
It's just me and my husband and we want to take in as much as possible, but I don't know which one to choose.
Help??

Thanks for the input! I'm glad that we'll be able to receive some perks even though there is no "Haven" specific area. We have never used the Haven on NCL - will we need to make specialty dining reservations prior to boarding or will our Butler take care of items such as this? I don't want to be locked out, I'm just not familiar with the process.
P.S. Three bottles of wine is a good start! 🙂

We are booked in an owners suite on the Pride of America. However, it appears that there is no "Haven" on this ship. Therefore, what suite perks come with this cabin?
-
We were thinking to use it to keep in touch with our other parties who are on different decks, so we can find each other etc... I wasn't certain how the reception is and if it really works.
-
I'm leaving on an Alaskan cruise on the Bliss in a couple of weeks and would like to find out if the NCL app works well while on board the ship, before I have everyone in my party purchase and download the app.
Please let me know what your experience has been.

There's been a few 3-night cruises on the "new" Mariner. I'm hoping that someone saved the compasses and will be posting them soon. What do you say lucky cruisers who went before us??
-
The first 3-nighter on Mariner (just ended) compass has ice shows at 7 pm Day 2 and Day 3 at 3:30 pm. It probably is subject to change but, given Day 1 turn-around and departure demands on the crew/staff, I could see the ice show offerings remaining on Day 2 & 3 only. Hope that helps.
Hi, it sounds like you had a great time. By chance do you have copies of the Cruise Compass from your 3-day trip that you can share? Thanks!!

We will be in St. Thomas on June 21st (10 am dock) and am looking for a private boat charter to take us snorkeling, lunch and a tour. There are 10 of us ranging from 6 to 50ish...
I like to stay away from the excursions offered through the cruise line, as they're normally huge boats with lots of people.
Any recommendations?

Great review, we're going on the same cruise in a month and would love to see copies of the current compasses. By chance, did you keep a copy and if so, would you be able to post them for me?
Thanks!

I need to scan and upload the Compasses but I promise I will post them tonight. Stay tuned!
The Taste of Tuscany was $30 per person. I thought it was worth it - very good food and service and we enjoyed the presentation.
The piano bar was so much fun. Joe Hollywood has a big song book you can choose from and he played a good variety with a lot of newer stuff. Just don't request Red Solo Cup. Someone requested it and he didn't want to play it. I'm not sure why it was in his book. :) He learns everyone's names too.
Thanks for the info, we're doing a "girls cruise" with 11 family members leaving on the 25th. I thought that the dinner would be fun especially if it's only us! I know that we'll get to know the piano guy well, I hope we don't drive him nuts! It's going to be a good time. I just got off the Allure (we were on her for July 4th) so it will be fun spending time on a smaller ship where everyone knows your name! Did they still have Quest?
Thanks for all the info and photos!

We leave on the majesty in 11 days and would love to see you compasses. Also how much did they charge for the taste of Tuscany dinner? Your photos are beautiful and have me excited for our trip!! Any songs we should request at the piano bar?

My vote is deck 7, one deck up you're at Central Park, one deck down, you're at the boardwalk, two decks down and you're at the promenade. If you have kids stay at the back of the ship and you can go up a few decks and be at the sports deck (this was. my daily exercise and I avoided waiting for the elevator). Try to stay close to the elevator, there isn't any noise and you're closer to the stairs! Also on deck 7 aft, you're one deck down to the schooner bar to take advantage of the drink package, with ease to take it to your cabin. Perfect in my opinion!!

Having just sailed on RCCL's largest ship (with 5,000 "friends") I'm looking forward to a weekend trip on the Majesty with "the girls"! Yes, the Allure is beautiful, has many choices and perks; however, I'm looking forward to a trip "where everyone knows your name". Both ships are special in their own way. Maybe I'll do a comparison when I get back! :D

Thanks for everyone's input, I thought it was a strange offer. No other perks were offered. We would have taken 2 rooms, but sharing with our teenagers (one is on the O-line of the varsity football team) would not have been a pleasant experience. We love our kids, but space is a good thing!! On the way to the port now! Woo-Hoo!!

We will be turning diamond members with the cruise that we leave on tomorrow and we've never received an upgrade offer - until today. We received a call from our travel agent to let us know that RCCL was offering us an "upgrade". Because we currently have two connecting Junior Suites (teenagers in one, parents in the other), I was very excited! However, our "upgrade" was One Crown Loft Suite in exchange for both our Junior Suites. How does this make sense? Yes, we would have larger windows, but actually less space inside and on the balcony; not to mention the loss of privacy and the kids would have to sleep on a pullout sofa.
Needless to say, we passed.....color me VERY disappointed :(
However, the good news is that we are sailing tomorrow!
Has anyone else experienced an upgrade offer that wasn't?

We'll be on the JUNE 29th sailing of the Allure; we're planning to go to Mr. Sancho's on Cozumel. Otherwise, we'll probably stay on board, to let the kids flow ride and take advantage of our drink package! :o:o
-
Not the Starbucks venues on Oasis and Allure, but it does include venues on other ships that serve Starbucks brand coffee.
Guess I'll have to take that into consideration when I purchase my package - if it included Starbucks, it would have been a "no-brainer". Darn it!!
-
I've purchased the ultimate drinking package for my upcoming cruise. I see it includes specialty coffees and teas - does that include Starbucks for those ships that have a Starbucks?
Fingers Crossed....
-
THANK YOU!!! The compasses will come in quite handy when deciding when to eat, when to schedule shows, when to gamble, when to flow-ride, when to relax...it's a good thing that I can drink my unlimited package during most of these activities..it looks like the only thing I won't be able to fit in is SLEEPING!
I hope to pay it forward when I return, and will try to post my compasses.
Thank you much!
