  1. Several ways to handle—you can call Princess and they will note for you—also it can be handled online under Check-in status and go to dietary request and click distilled water for CPAP—however I have found both of these methods being a 50% chance of room steward actually being made aware—frankly it is just not a problem you can ask room steward and he/she will bring you a full container first day—they will even bring an extension cord for machine if need be though a fellow cruisecritic follower turned me on to using alternative outlet behind bed to forego the need for any extensive cord—he will no doubt read this thread and offer up his sage advice again

Great-thanks. That's what we are trying to figure out-if we want to splurge for the package. Do you happen to recall what is offered? I assume wine and beer. That would be good enough for us, frankly.

It was my experience they stock typical top shelf liquors and if they do not have it--they will make sure it is there the next day for sure--I requested Grey Goose vodka as well as a rootbeer--also in terms of cheese I asked for more brie as it seemed that the suite guests all loved it and a massive amount  magically appeared the next day as well

  3. Thanks Rick for the reply, so I gather the adapter you referenced in Post 4 will work with European alternatively if it is a US style then CPAP can be directly used in that  outlet

  4. Rick

We will be on Discovery Princess come late Feb—hubby uses CPAP and we would like to avoid extension cord can you confirm that European outlet is behind the bed on Royal Class Ships?

Every ship I've been on so far (admittedly not all) have had both European style and US style plugs.  Every ship has had a European style behind the bed which I use for a CPAP.  The adapter I showed above (Amazon link) gives you a "pass-through" socket allowing you to plug in whatever was originally plugged into the wall along with a US style to feed whatever you need.  It eliminates the ridiculous "solution" of having to use an extension cord run across the floor.

Either of those should work fine for use at the desk.  If you plan on using one behind the bed then if you use either of those plugs you "forfeit" being able to plug in whatever *was* plugged into the wall there (most likely one of the bedside lamps).  Post #4 shows the style that I use behind the bed and still be able to use the lamp(s).

  6. I know that this may sound silly but we are on the 1/15 Majestic Princess Mexico sailing and was wondering if there might be a chance that my husband and I would be allowed to play a couple of games of skee ball in the kids/teen clubs--we do not have children so we cannot ask to join them in such an activity--thought there might be a chance given it seems to me there might be fewer kids/teens sailing in mid January with school being in session and such--anyone out there have any experience with this?

  7. My personal experience with the premium beverage package is that 50% of the time when ordering a soda I would be given the whole can whether it be a Coke or Sprite and 90% of the time if I ordered a root beer

We have learned to check the temperature of the thermal beds on the first day before deciding to buy a pass. On our last few cruises they have been luke warm and just not that enjoyable. Complaints to the desk did nothing.

We found the same thing when we have been on both the Royal and Regal in past years--our most recent trip on the Royal there were two beds that were lukewarm in some parts and the rest were hot in all zones--I agreed complaints to desk do nothing--we have found that best approach is to complain directly to hotel manager who will get on Spa Manager but typically these issues do not fully resolve until a dry dock occurs

I don’t recall them adding a gratuity to the pass when I purchased it.  They very well could have and I just don’t recall right now.  Have they always added a gratuity?

I don't recall any gratuity and feel that the website reference may be generic to the other spa services where a person is performing services--just my thought

  10. I know that it will sound strange but on the Royal the corndogs in the Kids Corner area and also available during American BBQ night used to be the best corndog I have ever eaten--fresh hand dipped corny batter with a juicy and meaty dog.  They just could not make enough for the demand.  However the last time we were on the Royal in Alaska they were using a new batter that is just plain awful and taste more like a fish fry batter than a corn-based batter and many repeat Royal cruisers were complaining and asked what had happened.  Was told that they locally supply the corndog mix so hoping that in our upcoming Mexico cruise on the Royal the batter will be different

  11. Post 9/11 it is a no for sure.  I remember being on a cruise in Mexico in 2010 and my mother/Aunt/Uncle/two of their friends (all were vacationing in Cancun) were let on to have dinner with us in the dining room that evening at no charge--such a wonderful evening--so sad that those days are a thing of the past

  12. This may sound silly and odd but I think one of my favorite things that I recently experienced and enjoyed to the max was the corndogs in the kids section of the Royal Princess buffet during dinner--swear they are the best corndogs I have ever eaten--freshly battered and the dog itself moist and tasty--going back on the Royal in a couple of weeks and am looking forward to eating one or two each time they show up on the buffet line--even hubby had to admit it was excellent!

  13. Last time I was on Royal items at Gelato were free as they were included as part of Premium Drink Package—is this still true?  Also I recall that previously you could get canned soda but appears that fountain is now on only option though I am wondering if you request a root beer since it is not a fountain choice will they pour you a glass as part of the package?

  14. 'sknight' provided some excellent suggestions & to me the USS Iowa would be great unless you're dragging carryon bags. Although I seem to recall reading a post that the Iowa does have a carryon bag check service for such situations which you could confirm by going to their website or by calling them.

FYI--Actually spoke to Iowa staff today and they confirmed that they will hold your luggage while you tour--however would prefer to drop off at cruise terminal if this is in fact an option

  15. Trece,

Glad your experience with Happymize has to date been great, as has mine so far.

The "SandraMartinez" itinerary was actually a custom collection of sites and activities I made up from a hybird of various cruise excursions highlights, recommendations from my former Korean neighbor, and an internet site of http://www.lifeinkorea.com/travel2/seoul (this site is a wealth of great info and photos). I really wanted to do so much more, but with the limited time the ship is in port, it was the best I could do with the time we had.

Sorry to hear that you are having a time of it getting other CCers to join you in the private tours. Too bad that you are probably already committed to all aspects of the Princess cruise though, because we have a great group going in our Azamara Cruise leaving on March 6th and arriving in Shanghai on March 20th. We have 5 private tours going actually.

As for your request for info re Seoul tour once we have actually taken the excursion with Happymize, if you email me at sandraalameda@hotmail.com on March 13th, I promise to email you back with a personalized take on our adventure and will try to answer any questions you may have.

  16. I could not find any recommendations on the CC boards for a Seoul tour group. Took a look on the internet and found Happmize Travel Ltd. As I recall, came to find them through official goverment travel agency list.

I personally can not speak to the quality of this tour agency as we will not be using them until March 13th. I will no doubt write a review when I come back. However, I can say that all email has been promptly responded to and I have felt well serviced by them to date. Another plus in my mind is that they accept credit card payment through Paypal, which if they do not produce, I can dispute payment via Paypal and/or credit card.

There is a summary of what we opted for
