Yes at HEB.  I love Margarita's but tequila does not like me anymore so it is a good substitute.  DH doesn't like wine at all so I figured he may drink a glass or two.  If Carnival would just get with the program and allow packages to be used out of Galveston on the first day like Royal does!!!

Oh, I didn't know Royal allowed it to be used out of Galveston. We've only sailed with Carnival and have been drinking their "kool-aid" about it being a TABC thing this whole time!

  2. Interesting... I'd like to try the change they have implemented. Although I've never thought of the minor inconvenience outside of when it occurs, this article reminded me that those little butter pads in the buffet are always super cold and tear up the toast or whatever I'm trying to spread them on.

I'm not surprised there are conflicting views on his FB post about it. Can't wait to see what people here have to say.

  3. Half the time we go through security at the port they don't inspect our bottles. And we don't try to obscure them! I'd say give it a shot! Assuming your bought it at HEB? I've seen those in our local store, but have not tried them. How are they?

In 1986 my new boyfriend (he became my sweet hubby in 1988) and I boarded the Ship his parents were cruising on.  We walked around a bit, saw their Cabin and drank a toast with them before debarking. There was an announcement over the Speakers telling us basically--Bye Bye.

We were both SO excited that shortly thereafter we booked "our" first cruise, a Halloween one too!!   What a great marketing plan 'back in the day', and it worked!! 🛳😂😂🛳

This is so cool! I wish they did this today. Our wedding cruise was kind of like that, where the non-sailing guests were allowed on for the festivities then told to hit the road. It'd be nice if they could do this for regular passengers too. Although with the ships holding so many passengers now, that would probably not be possible.

  5. We are never in a hurry to get off either. After breakfast, we usually try to find a spot to people watch. Folks get so worked up by debarkation being crowded and busy... of course it's going to be that way. It's like herding cats on top of trying to get the ship turned over. We just relax with a cup of coffee, watch and read. No sense in getting so angry at the cruise or customs that it casts a shadow over the trip! 🙂

The article did say he was 19; maybe someday he will grow up. I think we all probably did crazy things as a teenager and in our 20s.

I certainly did crazy things... thankfully nothing *that* crazy though! Glad he is okay, even though that is incredibly annoying. I recall being on the Liberty back in May 2016 when a woman went over on purpose. In the middle of the night. She was not rescued as it was like 12-14 hours before anyone noticed she was missing. I hope he got some kind of valuable life lesson out of this!

  7. You get one point for every dollar spent or two points for every dollar spent with carnival. There are ways to get a higher redemption rate. If you had 99,999 points that would be worth $999. however if you saved up to 100,000 points, that could be redeemed for $1,500. I just did that myself and paid for a vista cruise. I’ve heard others say you can get that 1.5 redemption rate on any purchase over $1,500 but I’ve never tested it out myself. There is a redemption calculator on the Barclaycard website and app.

Wow, 1.5X redemption is a pretty good deal!

  8. I haven't received a bounce back since our first cruise. We can only assume that we received it because we had Carnival get our play history from Mandalay Bay before sailing. Since that cruise I've gambled much more but haven't received anything. I only play roulette though, so that may not help. I did get a Premier offer once, but didn't take them up on that offer.

I'm not playing for comps anyway... at least that's what I keep telling myself :) I certainly take advantage of the drink card, however.

  9. Only can book it onboard? I assume at the Shore excursion desk?

Only onboard, yes. I imagine you can book from your stateroom, but am not entirely sure.

For me, personally, the 95.00 was worth it. But I really enjoy operational and technical parts of stuff. If you aren’t really into that then 95 is a bit steep.
