  1. Pinnacle Harbourfront is a great location ... they have a hotel car which will take you to the cruise port if free. We were fortunate to leave for our cruise at a time when it was free ... they took us right over early, 5 minute ride ... going early we beat the crowds!

  2. Park Rangers did join us on the way into Glacier Bay, spent the day on board and left us on the way out... if you get a chance to watch them 'catching' the ship and then leaving it ... its fun to see ... the ship does not stop but just slows down!

Enjoy every minute of your journey. No one can possibly tell you or show you how truly spectacular it is!

  3. It really depends on where the speakers are in relation to your balcony ... we were midship on Island Princess and could hear clearly from our balcony. Glaciers are spectacular ... the captain 'twirls' the ship in one spot so that all are able to see it from wherever they are on the ship! If you can, go to the very front on your deck (your friendly steward can help you do that) ... when you first get to the end of Glacier Bay ... spectacular!

  4. Doing research before a trip is a must! We visited Alaska last year for two weeks and spent about 9 months researching and then deciding on the best things to do at each stop and the best excursions! There is so much to see both from the ship and in Denali ... all of it spectacular! It is a very different type of cruise. This is a great place to look but also read about the ports and Denali to be prepared. Alaska is spectacular ... and the people are so welcoming ... be sure to meet them.

  5. Our cruise was Alaska NB from Vancouver...followed by a week on land. On formal nights some folks dressed up, but it was not over the top formal ... Men often wore shirts and ties and ladies cocktail dresses or slacks with dressy shirt. We did not do formal night ... Rather smart casual and buffet. More relaxed than a Caribbean cruise. Very relaxed atmosphere, great food in dining room, buffet, Bayou Cafe. Cruise director and all of team absolutely wonderful. Rest of crew also very attentive and upbeat. The cruise and land portions were spectacular ... Not to be missed. We cannot say enough about the wonderful time we had.
