OP says that her husband doesn't want to work from home. Seems like the company is willing to pay him and have him work, he just doesn't want to work from home. In other words he wants his cake and he wants to eat it too!

    I’m the OP.
He says that he doesn’t want to be gone from work for a month. 🤷‍♀️ He could ask to see if he could work from home but he says that not going to the office for nearly a month would be asking for a lot and there’s certain things he needs to do.  HR told him to ask his boss about the possibility of working from home but doesn’t look like he is open on that. 😡😢 The rest of the family thinks he should just ask!!

That's a tough question because there are many factors so best to call Carnival or your travel agent. If you booked a fare that has a nonrefundable deposit then its best to wait to see what Carnival will do.

Hmmm...don’t remember if we had a non-refundable deposit and can’t find it in my emails from booking. We booked one week before all this Covid stuff started. 😢

  3. We are booked to cruise on the new Mardi Gras on February 13th. Final payment is due in two weeks.  My husband just found out that is work is requiring anyone who travels outside of the country to quarantine for 14 days before coming back to work. We are now in a dilemma because we really want to go but he can’t possibly take off two more weeks after the cruise (and he doesn’t want to ask to work from home for two weeks).  At this point, we have two options- cancel the cruise and lose out $500 deposit OR wait and see if our cruise is canceled (we are only the second sailing for Mardi Gras so that likely could be pushed back) and then take the OBC that we will likely get and reschedule. Question- could we call now and change our cruise and not be penalized or would we still lose our deposit?
    thanks!

  4. Looking to plan a 5 day possibly for next New Years. All four of these cruises seem to be around the same price point. We aren’t worried about specific ports. We often don’t even get up the ship at ports. We just enjoy the luxury of an empty ship those days. That being said, I’d love to hear people’s opinions of these ships especially if you have been on more than one of them and can compare. I know none of them are “top ships” with all the bells and whistles. We don’t really cruise the bells and whistles ships. Looking for a “cheap” but fun cruise. Thanks!

We love the Fantasy class ships but if you have been on one you have been on he all so I would go with the Sunshine.

I’ll be honest. All the cruise ships we’ve ever been on have seemed the same to me. I wouldn’t even know the difference between ships. That being said, we’ve only been on 3 Carnival cruises (4 cruises total) : Fascination, Freedom, and Dream, so we are still quite rookies to cruising.

If I were you and you didn't care about the ports or the ship, I would just base a decision on the longer length of the cruise, ergo Ecstasy.  You don't say if cabin preference enters your decision, so I'm thinking the inside wouldn't be an issue for you instead of a balcony.

If I were me, I wouldn't book either choice, the ships, the itineraries and the length of the cruises are all unappealing to me.

We’ve always stayed in interior rooms and have never had a balcony but it may be nice to enjoy the view outside our room in the morning. We are not much about excursions. That’s why we don’t care what the ports are.

  8. Would like some feedback on these two shops to help us decide which to choose.

Both cruises are about the same price and the same distance from us.

Sunshine- we’d get a balcony and it’s a 4-day with one port (Nassau)

Ectasy- we’d get an interior  (not a balcony) and it’s a 5 day (two ports- Nassau and Princess Cay)

We won’t get off in Nassau and may or may not get off in Princess Cay. We tend to enjoy the uncrowded boat on port days 😀

So which Cruise would you pick if you were us?

  9. Can you tell RCCL that you have a good reason/doctors note/illness, etc to verify your situation? I'm sure the doctor will get this info to RCCL, it may help or at least to move your cruise w/o losing money - tell RCCL you just want to move the date ahead. I had a bad situation and the doctor even suggested they write RCCL a letter/call, etc - good luck and hope it goes well

Could be a possibility.....unfortunately we had a relative fly down to watch our kids and I am not sure that would be a possibility in the near future again. Hoping we get the situation under control with correct meds today so we can still go.

  10. Parking at Port Canaveral is very convenient, but expensive. They charge $15/day and hit you up for a full day on your return day (i.e., 8 days for a 7 night cruise). Some of the local hotels provide a 40% discount coupon for parking at Port Canaveral ($9 per day) which is much more reasonable. Here's a list of the participating hotels http://www.portcanaveral.com/PortCanaveral/media/Cruise-Assets/Parking-Voucher-Program_5.pdf I personally like parking at Port Canaveral for the convenience. Last year on the Freedom OTS we did self disembarkation and were in my van and on our way by 7:20 AM

Thanks! I saw that Best Western has the option of the 40% off voucher. I will check out your list and we will probably do that then! Thanks again!

  11. We are back and forth about getting a package at a hotel near Port Canaveral and getting shuttled to the Port or just staying at a hotel, getting in our car in the morning and taking it to the port parking ourselves, etc.

Just wondering what people have done in the past and if it is worth parking at a hotel, but then having to deal with waiting for a shuttle to pick us up and take us to the port and then back after our cruise is over.

What do you think is the better choice?

  12. My husband and I are taking our first RC cruise and our first trip ever without kids :-)

We plan on driving and arriving the day before our cruise. We will need to park our car so we'd prefer to just stay at a hotel that offers free/discounted parking during our cruise. Any suggestions of hotels to stay at around in that area? Any other info about parking/ hotels would be appreciated.

    43 days to go!

Enchantment of the Seas here we come!

  13. Sooooo, I have a question?

What are you going to do if everything is NOT fine?

Would you rather know and be miserable the rest of your trip, or just find out when you get home? It's not like you can swim back home and fix everything.

I am a mom too, and I would rather not know until I can do something about it.

Seriously consider totally 100% letting it all go and devote all your cruise to loving your hubby. Maybe bring back a new cruise baby in the oven. LOL.

I can tell from your concern about checking on the kids you are an AWESOME mom. YOU DESERVE THIS VACATION GIRLFRIEND!

Let grandma hold down the fort for you. :D

Lol. My husband is the one who is worried....he is the better parent. And Lord helps us if there is a baby in the oven after this trip! That would be the end to any future cruises!😉

  14. Hi!

My husband and I will be taking our first cruise alone without our kids.:)

My mom will be staying with them but we wanted to still be able to call or email home to check that all is fine. We both have cell service through straight talk which is not international service. We are only going to the Bahamas but I don't believe we would have coverage there. Correct? We were thinking of getting the internet package but would we be able to use this on our phones if we are on Straight talk? If not we can get one of our kindles hooked up, but was just wondering what everyone else does....anyone else out there leave kids at home and have a way of keeping in touch?
