  1. Thank you very much for telling us about your experience. I think Viking is fearful that if they are honest, folks like us will cancel our plans (thank goodness we got trip insurance). I am sadden by the unwillingness of Viking to 'level' with us. Again, I am very appreciative of your giving us good information from which to work.

  2. We are 'supposed' to be in the Viking Gefjon out of Budapest on the 20th. It is feeling more and more like we may end up on a bus!? to Vienna. We have never done a river cruise and we are very distressed that the cruise we had thought we were going to have in which we could unpack, relax and enjoy the romance of the Danube to Nuremberg will not happen. Even worse, is Viking will not give any information about the situation. Fortunately, we have the messages here on Cruise Critic to give us some current information. I hope that others currently cruising will let us know their experience so we can decide what to expect and what to do. Please pass along anything you learn and we will do likewise.

  3. Thank you for the links. We are nervous about what the low water levels mean and whether we will end up spending a lot of time on a bus instead of on the boat. We were looking forward to a relaxing trip where we could unpack and enjoy the ride and tours for the whole trip. These water level issues put that whole thought in question. Just what does transferring boats involve? Is it really bad to have to take a bus. It sort of defeats the whole idea of a 'river cruise'!?

  4. My wife and I are going on the Viking cruise from Budapest on the Danube on November 20th. We are hearing about the water levels on the Danube and are concerned that the boat will not be able to go the entire trip. Any help we can get would be appreciated.
