  1. Looks as though Little French Key has won their Legal battle and all the animals will be returning!

From Little French Key's Facebook post:

"After 8 months to date from August 28, 2015 of wait, hard work and hard ache, with G-d’s grace, hard work from our legal team, support and prayers from our dear friends, family, guests and visitors on this Passover, Little French Key received an 8 page positive court resolution that the raid on Little French Key, search and taking of the animals from Little French Key and Mr. Edgar Bodden were all illegal, in bad faith without cause and absolute abuse of power.

Now we are ready for two possible actions, one retaliation by the corrupt officials behind this ruthless, illegal act or with G-d’s grace them and those assisting them coming to their senses and soul search, using the same amount of effort to bring our animal family home.

Although we and our business has endured the psychological, slander and business damages associated with these illegal actions, it was and always has been about the welfare of our animal family and the best for Roatan.

In the word’s of George Washington, “ I hope I shall possess firmness and virtue to maintain what I consider the most enviable of all titles, the character of an honest man”.

  2. Just got back from Little French Key again. It is still beautiful!!!! There are less animals but if you are going just to see animals you are going to the wrong place. There are two 6 month old lion cubs, the adult lion, monkeys, deer, birds, etc.

The tax that everyone was worried about them adding to the package price was nothing but a bunch of panic and rumor. The tax is added into the package price and you pay nothing extra than the listed package price. (we paid in cash and received a 10% discount for being return visitors)

The trip to LFK from the Mahogany Bay port took about 15 to 20 minutes. It is not required to reserve on the LFK site as we met some people on the ship that wanted to go with us to LFK and we emailed LFK while on the ship and they said we could just show up with as many people we wanted to reservations required. If you want to just show up all you have to do is walk to the top of the hill outside the Mahogany Bay port and look for or ask for the LFK shuttle. The shuttle guys will be wearing a polo shirt with Frenchy's on the front and Little French Key on the back.

The staff asks right from the beginning what time we needed to be back to the port and also told us that we could leave at anytime we liked.

LFK is a amazing place that everyone should try atlas once!

  3. We did it about a year ago. We loved it! You will meet in the Atrium lobby then be escorted with a glass of bubbly through the main dining room and into the galley where a set table will be waiting for your group. You will tour the galley eat, eat and eat some more. It was a excellent experience and all the food was excellent! Its a perfect opportunity to try new foods and different combinations of food that you would probably never eat again. Highly recommend it!

  4.

We were there last week. It POURED on the day we were there and was pretty cold. You literally get off the ship and walk about 40 feet then pick up the boat to the Key. We were on the key and checked in by 11:30. Because the weather was so awful, Carnival had cancelled their excursion to LFK and half of the people on the NCL excursion ate lunch and went back so only about a dozen of us on the island.

Carnival does not have a excursion to LFK but they do go to Big French Key. Many people book this thinking they are going to LFK and are sadly mistaken.

  5. Best advice I have read here....

To all the Sunshine evangelists, I booked this cruise with eyes wide open. I knew it was a refurbished ship and had read through the reviews, positive and negative. It was still our worst Carnival cruise ever. For anyone cruising on the Sunshine, or considering it, by all means, go on the Sunshine with an open mind but the negative reviews are just as valid as the positive ones. Weigh the issues and decide what you are willing to put up with after paying your hard earned money.

Never discount negative reviews! Always weigh them all, positive and negative and decide for yourself!

  6. Have to admit the Sunshine was our least favorite ship by far. Yes it has the new upgrades and she looks modern inside but boy oh boy the negatives outweighed the positives.

As others have stated the public spaces do not accommodate the number of people like other ships. Did we still have a great vacation, Absolutely! Did we enjoy our time on the Sunshine, Absolutely Not!

You may like the ship, try it! Decide for yourself.

  7. At LFK now. I was not charged extra. This place is paradise.

Is the zoo portion of LFK deserted and now there are stinky empty cages as a few people have reported? Just wondering. Hope you are having a great time!

  8. The extra cost to go to LFK is worth it IMO. You can not compare Maya Key to LFK, you just can't.

Another thing to consider is that Maya is a cruise ship excursion so expect more people there than LFK. When we were last at LFK the entertainment crew from the ship showed up, kinda tells me they know where to Get Away from it ;)

There is no deception on LFK part about the tax, if you read their website you would have noticed the prices along with the taxes. You can not blame them for doing what they are legally bound to do.

IF you want to save a buck go ahead, Im sticking with LFK. Where else can you paddle a kayak up to a bar and order a drink or two to go?:D
